Mountaineer Replacement
Divorced father, 2 kids (13 & 10), needed a replacement vehicle for a 97 Mountaineer. Looked at Acadia, Enclave, TaurusX, Mazda CX9, CRV & Odyssey. Purchased V6 Sport 4WD 11/07. Vehicle has 24,500 miles on it now. Very pleased with the gas mileage (averages a consistent 27 mpg when driven between 60-65 mph). Very quiet riding vehicle, nothing rattles or squeaks, very tight. JBL sound system is wonderful. Kids love positioning options of backseats I should have purchased more comfortable / flexible leather/ powerseats. On long rides its worth the extra money. My 1st Toyota, won't be my last. Very pleased.
Wish Toyota still used the V6 in the RAV4's
269HP. It has great performance and why we love the RAV4. I get 27 mpg on the highway at 75 mph. It drops down to around 19 to 20 around town.

Love driving my RAV4! She's a kick!
I bought my RAV4 used in 2010 with 40,000 miles on it. It now has 107,000 miles and I still love her!! The V6 gives her a quick bite of the road and sets you back in your seat a bit. Perfect for trips in Seattle where getting on the freeway requires perfect timing and a shoe horn! We installed an aftermarket hitch and have pulled our boat over the pass to fish on the Columbia River with no problem. Even though it is relatively light, we hardly noticed the boat behind us! If I had to say one thing that I don't like it would be the cabin noise. It can be hard for others to understand me while using blue tooth for calls. I wasn't fond of all the recalls Toyota had, but my local dealer has a great service team and they have taken care of her for me since I purchased her. I have taken her all over Washington's mountains, down the highways, through mud, snow and ice, visited Oregon and she still thrills me to drive!! My next car will definitely be another RAV4...she's just that great!

Heater awful but nice car otherwise
If you want to stay warm in winter while riding in the second or third row seat, I suggest buying another vehicle. Other than that, the RAV 4 is a great little car -- especially with the V6. I've had the dealership tear the vehicle down looking for the reason why there is no heat coming from the ducts in the second and third row seats. Their final verdict -- verified by Toyota's engineers -- the system is functioning as designed. Since I live in Wisconsin, going with a marginal heater is not an option. Toyota's suggestion -- trade it in for something that has heat but I take the loss on the vehicle -- about a $3-4K hit. Pretty rotten on Toyota's part but they know I have no choice.
Could be better
I love this SUV. I had a jeep and traded for this for fuel economy. I averaged over 26 mph on a 1000 mile trip. I don't like the excess engine noise when cold. Seats are hard but for a smaller person comfortable. Performance is better than Pontiac gt with 3.8. Some wind noise but have a Lexus also and it's quiet. Great steering response in the mountains where I live. Corners not a problem. I got a lifetime drivetrain warranty from the dealer for free as long as he does the service.
