Used 2017 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Consumer Reviews
Great new car, but look for Certified Used.
This is my 4th Toyota hybrid. First was new rxh400, then new Camry Hybrid, then new Prius V, then new Rav4 Hybrid Limited. I always sell them at 80,000 because I freak out about the battery life/cost. I like this one the best. I average 35 MPG. I have driven 6800 miles in 8 months. The storage area would have been nicer if they made it flat. But, it is still very useful. I bought new to take advantage of the 0% for 5 years financing from Toyota. As some have said, the car seat can be a little uncomfortable after a 400 mile drive. But, it is good to get out and walk around anyway. I don't get any aches or pains. This car rides as nice as my Lexus RX Hybrid for $20K less. The safety stuff makes you realize we're only a few years away from self driving cars. It has all the tools to do it now. A certified car has a 100K warranty -- which is better than a new car warranty. These Rav4's do depreciate fast. My other car is a '10 Tacoma 4X4 with 80K on it, and I thought about trading this Rav4 back in on a new loaded Tacoma a few weeks ago. My son is grabbing my Tacoma. The dealer offered me $8K less than what I paid for my Rav4 for it in trade for a new Tacoma. I thought that was abusive from JW Toyota in STL. Now I'm keeping this RAV4 for 200K miles. I'm going to look for a used certified new style Tacoma to buy, or wait for a Hilux Diesel. The Tacoma is one of the lowest depreciating cars made. Sadly, Lexuses drop like lead bricks in depreciation. My GF has a 2007 Prius with 180K on it, and it is still running and looks pretty good. All the taxi companies are switching over to Toyota Hybrids, so we should know that these hybrids are going to last...

Almost all good, But few
I traded my 2011 Camry with Rav4. Felt like I had better ride in Camry Pros - If you do not see any below, then rest all are awesome. Cons – Not sure how did Toyota miss it. We have lot of expectation on you Toyota - Driver seat needs redesign. Seen 95% Rav4 drivers had neck pillow attached. I got my neck pain on my 3rd day ride. - Side Review Mirror is missing the trim, it’s obvious to notice - Rear Hatch back glass collets dust - All door bottom cover in plastic collects road debris and dust - Front Camera view in dash screen has big triangle that blocks about 30% dark - Wrong place to USB port that always get in your way. - Am not sure why Toyota did not give Electronic Distributed Breaks. We can feel the brake shoes vibrations in the paddles unlike 2011 Camry. - I had quite ride in 2011 Camry - One touch moon roof closing is missing when you have glass tilted. - Rear seat buckles are needed to dig-in every time. For kids, needs to help for buckling.

Great Hybrid! Worth the money!
At first, my husband and I were very skeptical of hybrids. We didn't think these vehicles would have much power, but man were we wrong! Thank goodness the sales person convinced us to give the hybrid a test drive. With the combination of gas and electric motor assist, you get the best of both worlds! The hybrid's sport mode is very impressive when you need to accelerate quickly. And of course, this vehicle has great gas mileage for an SUV. Averaging around 35/miles per gallon and it only has a 13-gallon tank. We can go on a 3-hour trip and only use half a tank! Plus, we love that this car has all-wheel drive. We are firm believers in having all wheel drive, especially if you experience any inclement weather where you live. The Rav4 hybrid also has a smooth ride and great safety features. I really enjoy the back-up camera and lane assist. Lastly, go ahead and buy the XLE model. It's worth the price for the extra features. We couldn't be happier with our purchase and we are definitely a hybrid family now!

Exceeded expectations after 3 years of ownership
Vehicle has been perfect for me. I am satisfied with the performance & comfort. Averaged 34.08 MPG over the 2 years. Safety systems all work correctly. Reliability has been great. Not a high tech guy, but everything works fine. Some competitors have better interiors, but it is OK. Has plenty of room & cargo space. Headlights could be a little stronger. Brakes are good. Gas to electric & back is seamless. With Toyota Care, I have had zero maintenance costs. Have signed up for Toyota Care Plus at a cost of $329 which is a no-brainer for another 2 years as it also covers a new air filter & cabin filter at 30,000 miles. Have now owned 3 full years. Great MPG. Had to replace left brake light in March which was under warranty. Nothing else. 36 month maintenance with Toyota Care Plus included a new air filter & cabin filter. Still a great vehicle. Have 30,200 miles on it. Last fill-up got 36.67 MPG. No problems or expenses.

It has not impressed me one bit.
Very reliable. I've had no sqeeks or rattles. The infotainment system, as another has mentioned, is absolute trash. I have the upgraded one with nav, awful is being too nice. Fuel mileage is terrible 26 or so why did I get this complicated hybrid, my Honda CR-V gets the same or beter without the added fluff. I do like that it stops the motor and continues with the heating or cooling on electricity. Ride comfort is pleasant enough. This vehicle did not live up to my expectations I can't wait to turn the lease in in seven days.
