Used 2004 Toyota Matrix XR Fwd 4dr Wagon (1.8L 4cyl 4A) Consumer Reviews
Reliable as a sunrise
I just picked up this Matrix about 4 months ago for $3,000. I put new tires on and a valve cover gasket. The car has a 135,000 and runs like new. Everything works beautifully. I asked my mechanic what he thought. He said i should be able to put 300,000 if not more with proper maintenance. It's not a race car or luxury vehicle. It's a very well made economy car that can last many years with some simple maintenance. I will not fault the car for not being something it wasn't engineered/designed to be.

Can I give it a higher rating?
The best car I have ever owned!! I've had this car for over 15 years and I still love it. I love the way the back window opens so I can carry longer items. I love the way the seats fold down and how easy it is to change filters. It handles great and still gets great gas mileage. I just love everything about this car!!

My Yellow Miracle
I bought my 2004 Matrix new.it has 130,000+ miles. My mechanic says it should run to 300,000. I hope he's right. It still gets 30+mpg in the city.
MATRIX XR....WORTH EVERY PENNY!
Let me tell you! I have never had such a fun car...I get noticed in it all the time and it might have something to do with the Solar Yellow color...but I am telling you it's the BEST car I have ever owned...it's Sooooo fun to drive, and it's unbelievably comfortable too! It is worth every penny! GO GET ONE! Smoooooooooooooth ride!
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
I was one of the first people in my area of Southern Maryland to own this car, and let me tell you, it attracted some attention... and rightly so. I bought the car for my travels back and forth (college and home) which includes everything from extreme weather conditions, mountains (where they have tractor trailer run-offs) and steep grade inclines and declines. My drive also took me on the Washington beltway 495 during rush hour. I live and work with horses, art, road trips, and did I mention animals galore? This car has been able to keep up with me and I haven't had a single mechanical problem to date. I find new ways my car tailors to me everyday with all the compartments and folding seats
