Lovin' It So Far!

2003 Toyota Matrix XR Fwd 4dr Wagon (1.8L 4cyl 4A)

Just bought the Matrix XR over the weekend and I must say that I really like it. I got the FWD automatic because shifting bites in DC traffic and because its intended to be the "family car". I would have gotten the XRS but I figure if I wanted a bigger engine then I would have gotten a sports car. People look at the car everywhere I go and its because its a great looking car.

2003 Toyota Matrix XRS Fwd 4dr Wagon (1.8L 4cyl 6M)

I may only be 16 but I've driven some fast cars. This one is my favorite. Speedy, good braking and amazing handling are only a few of it's great layout. The gauges are easy to read and they look especially nice in the dark. The in-dash shifter is a bit finiky to begin with but after a few drives it becomes natural. 10/10 A definite buy and worth the price. Model: XRS Color: Black w/ black interior Trans: 6 speed manual Options: All except for 17" wheels Extras: 16" Konig Maxxim 187 wheels

Did they make this car just for me?

When I started looking into this car, I thought Toyota had gone and designed a car just for me! I mean, I needed a sub $20000 vehicle with at least 4 doors, with a sporty feel and great reliability. Took one look at this car and knew it was the one. Didn't want a stick so, the XRS was out of the picture and the XR had all the options and specs that I wanted. I drove it first in a base model with 16" steel rims and let me tell you how much a huge difference the 17x7.0" aluminums make. The car has great handling, a little heavy, but still really great. Happy I bought it and looking forward to many good years life from this Toyota.

Great car/suv/wagon. All the flexibility of an suv without the extra cost and low fuel mileage. Great MPG, great interior and exterior design. I can take my dog and all my stuff and still have room for more. All the car I wanted at a reasonable price

Granted it's only been three weeks, but I love this car. I drive a lot on city hills and like a zippy, sporty feel, and so was dubious that a small wagon could provide the fun drive I wanted. Initially I was torn between a Golf, Jetta Wagon, Mazda Protege, and (inconsistently) an Acura RSX, but the Matrix's combination of roomy interior, clever cargo usage, sporty feel and the larger speedy engine convinced me, especially for the price. Of course it doesn't have the torque at low RPM's that the RSX or another 2-seater-type sportscar would have - but I am thrilled with pretty much everything else and am happy with the compromise. A great car!
