It's nimble and fun to drive....you actually have to drive it...it doesn't go 80 mph unless you have put it there. Bit difficult if you have to go up a mountain.... good in snow.

Shaky steering wheel was really bad but dealer finally fixed it, mostly, tho it still does shake. Wipers were bad when new and just got worse. Do not clean the windshield.

Long Term Economy

One of the most desirable features I have found with the Echo is the motor and drivetrain. It has excellent performance for a 1.5L motor - I assume this is due in part to the Variable Valve Timing. There is no timing belt that will need to be replaced in a few years, it uses a timing chain. There are no spark plug wires that need to be replaced either. I agree with the Edmunds review that the styling is not as desireable as the Scions which use the same drivetrain.

This car is the first toyota that I have owned. It has proven to be a very reliable vehicle and has weathered this awful winter in the northeast without any difficulty. I frankly love the location of the instrument panel although I see some are not so happy with that. The only thing that I miss is a rear window wiper.

Excelent car. On average I get 39 miles to the galon. The bigest problem I have with the car is the salesmen were realy pushing that you can go 7500 miles between oil changes when in reality if you read the manual 5000 is more like it unless your drive in perfect conditions. But 5000 miles is not bad and the car drives great.
