Rented the Corolla S model at Enterprise.
Nice little car. It has very good acceleration and the fuel economy is excellent. 137 HP in a small car is really nice. The trunk space is huge ! I filled it up with lots of stuff. The front seat is very comfortable when you recline it back. It contours nicely to your body. The instrument gauge was very nice with blue lighting, cruise control is a little confusing on the right side of the steering wheel at first. I hated the shifting. Very irritating shifting and I hate that manual stik crap. Just get a manual if you want one ! It had no navigation and Sirius radio and that's not too good for a car around $18,000. The seat fabric was kind of plastic like that looked very durable and was easy to clean. The dashboard was too futuristic for me. I prefer driving my 2016 Jeep Patriot. Toyota is suppose to have nice interiors, but I always find the big names like Honda and Toyota have rather plain interiors and are over rated.

Great car for the price
This review is for the sport model. This has been a great car to me. As far a performance, I see no issues with acceleration or power when you understand most people purchase this car for reliability, longevity, and mpg. I'm in my 20s and regularly speed to work or hit 100+ mph no problem. You will sacrifice the advertise mpg when driving like this obviously. Nor am I recommending this type of driving since it's a corolla and not meant to run like that. The breaking is ok, but felt a little spongy and took a while to get used to. Also, there is a large throttle delay i dont care for. All in all, for a car to get me from point a to point b, the performance is good enough for me. Taking a test drive will decide for you. One thing to mention is the handling during snowy,rainy conditions is poor. So be careful, drive slow, accelerate slow, and brake early. I think this is due to the stock tires that come with it. After 35000 miles, I cant complain about the mpg I've gotten. When I drive conservative, i usually hit 35 country roads/in town or 40 hwy. Even when I'm driving like a top speed racer to work I hit around 30 average. The interior is ok. Some things like the middle console area feel cheap and loose, but i like the material the sport model uses for the seats and interior. The seat could be more comfortable for a 6+ foot person, but if you change the seat orientation and steering wheel orientation, it works ok. The one thing I wish was different was the right leg while driving could have more room. Even jammed up against the middle console, I feel its restricted. One last note, I'd say get the sport model as t least, the 17 inch wheels and more aesthetic rims make the car look so much better.

No "launch" power--versatile and robust
I was happy owner of a 2000 Camry when all of a sudden a pizza driver with no headlights on T-boned the right rear quarter panel good enough to total it. I ended up purchasing a 2016 Corolla S from Enterprise Car Sales as a replacement and am very happy. This car is truly the son of 2000 Camry. Pros: The controls and everything are just about identical (which is to say intuitive), and the driving experience is similarly pleasant and more nimble. With ergonomics, I am especially pleased that transferring between different categories of information (say, from AUDIO to CAR) is by hardware button, so you can feel your way to it while keeping your eyes on the road. The touch-screen is resistive touch, I think...not excessively sensitive to make a call you didn't mean to make, for instance. The ride is not quite as floaty as a 2000 Camry--it is sportier. On the flip side of that coin, there is more road noise with the lower-profile tires. Very nice engine tone, too. I get anywhere from 32 mpg (lots of stop-and-go rush-hour traffic) to 37 mpg (driving in off-hours) while bumbling around town. I get a truly commendable 39 mpg on the road. I have done the trip-odometer / gas-meter calculations and the mileage indicator on the dash seems to match up correctly, whereas other brands seem to get very optimistic with mileage displays. Some mechanics seem to attribute this leap in mileage to the use of "thin as water" 0W-20 oil. This thing (35/39) ups the old Camry's typical mileage (24/28) by 50%, despite making almost exactly the same HP. There is also 50% greater cup holder capacity (6 vs 4 in the old Camry), as this car has two in the rear fold-down armrest. Cons: The lack of a full-size spare tire was a bit of a let-down, since compacts these days are the size of yesterday's mid-size models. But other brands are similar in this regard. A mild irritation in the touchscreen system is that while you can access the recent call list for your phone at any time, you cannot access the list of contacts while in motion. A drawback for driving enthusiasts is that with a Continuously Variable Transmission, you lose the "launch" that the automatic transmission-driven old models had. It used to be you could hold the car with the brake while revving the engine up and get a boost in acceleration that way. The CVT is designed such that it modulates the power very (seems almost too) carefully. The best acceleration is to be found using "manual" mode, where you can stay in the optimal power band longer than in standard or even sport mode. If you get the S model, be careful that you don't accidentally nudge the shift lever into manual mode accidentally. LOL when I was test-driving this car I thought the transmission was broken because it was revving so high and going so slow, until I figured out I was in manual mode in 1st "gear-step" and not "upgearing". Verdict: A delightful ride which I expect to take me many years into the future. Annoyingly slow off the line, but 30-65 mph is very exhilarating. When this car gets old, I look forward to trying to tune the 0-30 performance.

got rid of this piece of crap a few years ago.
This car is so slow from zero to thirty miles per hour in the eco mode that it is almost dangerous to pull out into traffic, doesn't matter if you leave it in drive or shift it yourself, the sport mode is a little better but that makes the fuel economy even worse than the already pathetic mpg's we're seeing with ours. And oh yes, the mileage displayed on the dash is a lie, its always worse than displayed. We wouldn't mind trading fuel economy for performance but this car offers neither and thats with only one or two people in it (my wife and I only weigh 260 pounds COMBINED), with three or four people it is of course, worse. The service tech at the local dealership didn't seem to care and gave us the standard " They're all like that" reply and walked away! We were hoping the ECU could be reflashed or something. Apparently Toyota has gotten a lot of complaints about it as I hear they have revised the transmission for 2019. Also note that the Camry has a conventional eight speed automatic. Our 2012 Hyundai Elantra with more horsepower, a conventional six speed automatic transmission offers much better performance and much better fuel economy. Even a friend's 306 horsepower Civic R is getting better fuel economy than our pathetic Corolla. Since you're wondering, we purchased a different car than the one we test drove. Never do that. Can't wait for the lease on this car to be up, next car will be either a Mazda 3 or Hyundai Elantra ( or KIA Forte ) Lease is almost up, can't wait to give it back. Ironically a couple of months ago I got a letter and a follow up phone call from the dealer saying how bad they needed cars like our Corolla for their used car inventory said they'd like to buy it or take it on trade. I left phone messages for the letter writer and the guy who called and neither bothered to call back. This disappointing car is long gone gave it back three months early and walked away from it. Much happier with our KIA with a conventional six speed automatic, way more power and performance AND BETTER GAS MILEAGE.

Good car for commuting
Update: Traded in at 97k miles. Dealer in Virginia Beach gave me 8k (I had dents and scratches). Brakes were going bad after getting them replaced twice. I have the 2016 automatic Corolla S. It was bought new in VA. I have 71k miles on it. Pros: It is easy to drive and the controls are easy to use. Seats and mats are easy to clean. I think the interior is comfortable, however, I am 5’2”. This car is not for tall people. The gas mileage is great. I have gotten 400 mpg on the highway. Best mpg is at 60-70mph. Cons: The a/c takes forever to cool and the vents are way too small, almost like it was designed for kittens. This has been an issue since I bought the car. I took it to the dealer amd they said that is how the car is. The mileage estimator is off by 50 miles. This car will not hold up against any larger vehincle in a crash, and considering it is a small car, I would not buy this car if I had children in the backseat on a regular basis.
