I purchased a 2006 Corolla new in late 2006. Within the first year I had to replace the starter. Then the following year I had to replace the alternator and battery. In my 5th year of ownership at around 70,000 miles the ECU (computer) failed and I had to bring it in for the recall on it. About 8 months later the car started shifting terribly and sometimes wouldn't make it to second gear. The transmission torque converter ended up being bad. I ended up selling the car and getting a Civic which was a much better car. The ONLY thing the Corolla had an advantage with was fuel economy. Everything else was torture.

Our Corolla is sitting in the driveway with the hood up,AGAIN.Won't start ,new fuel pump not working (this is the third pump in less than 130,000 miles)Relay, pump, ECU?Mechanic getting balder.Dvd quit working, engine light always on/off/on.Airbag light on.Dealer has us on a list to replace recalled airbag(it's been several months now,no word)Dealership deaf,no help.ECU indicated transmission problems, mechanic says transmission is OKAY,ECU faulty.Dealership says our car only on recall for the airbag.Moisture in right front headlamp. Some plastic interior parts broken. My wife says NO MORE TOYOTAS.

Feel Safe With the Toyota Name

I really enjoy the nice comfortable ride, and low engine noise. The radio isn't all that bad either for this model. The only thing I would change is the annoying seat belt warning, and add the power package to all the cars no matter what model. I'll definitely be taking it in to get power door locks put in this week. Other than that, it's a great little car so far, with no other complaints.

This is our 4th purchase of a brand new Toyota. First time to purchase the Corolla. It has more power than the 6 cyl. Camry we had. We purchased the car site unseen. The Corolla is fun to drive but I would not recommend it for long distance driving unless you want to stop every few hours and walk around. Toyota has come a long way over the last 18 years. They just keep improving and they get better and better.

Flawless car. Any time I think I hear a noise or think the car has changed in some way, it's just me. It is amazing. Mine gets 39mpg on the highway (manual) and gets around 30 in town. It's great fun to wind it out once in a while through the gears. Absolutely amazing quality and efficiency. I love it!
