Not worth the trouble
Less than a year and 9000 km after I purchased my 2006 Corolla, my steering pump is broken and it is undriveable. The dealership says the part won't arrive for another month. It's Toyota's policy not to provide a rental car or any transportation for that matter until after 10 days that the part is on backorder. I am stuck without a car for 10 days. There was also another 06 Corolla in for the same problem. I was happy with my 1994 Corolla and not happy with my 2006. Toyota made no effort to salvage our relationship. Saturn and GM both say they provide transportation the same day if they expect a part not to arrive for a month.
Good but not great
Bought new with optional cruise control, side airbags and sunroof. Extra cost somewhat high. Have to hold on tight to steering wheel on windy days. So far dealership has replaced squeaky belt and engine computer chip-after check engine light went on, luckily still under warranty. Paint chips easily.
I love my little red car!
This is my very first car. I have had her for 3 months and commute 52 miles a day during the week on the highway, and I am very happy with my decision to buy this car! I test drove a few other cars (including the Honda Civic) but I liked the way this one felt the best. I felt like I had the most control with this car.
2006 Corolla CE (CE stands for Christ's Evangelist in my case)
I'm a musician for Jesus and travel all over to preach and play. Lots of room in the back, seat goes down, can carry all my equip. Rides nice, mileage is great (beats the heck out of my Dodge Caravan) I get alot of compliments on the color..."sea foam mist." Audio is good. Im really glad I got blessed with this. I bought it at 44,000 miles and at 49,000 miles the serpentine belt started squealing from having cracks in it. They normally need to be replaced at 50,000 miles and up so that's cool. Gault Toyota replaced it reasonably and I got a shuttle ride home and back the next day. I'd love to get a prius next or a toyota convertible. Peace, in Christ...Dougie Douglas
my dependable 4 banger
I decided to go with the corolla because of the fuel efficiency. I wasn't going to wait for the prius (at the time there was a waiting list). As you can tell I drive a lot and that was my main motivation. The driving experience and everything else that comes with the car is extra. I know I've been spoiled by toyota because I get in other comparable makes and models that my friends have and the drive is not even close to how smooth and good the drive is in my corolla. I love it!
