Toyota Corporate Offers Help Then RENEGS!
Just the details: 12/17/21 Toyota dealership informs me that the transmission needs to be replaced at only 122,000 miles. I call Toyota corporate and inform them of the recommendation and ask if Toyota would be willing to assist with the repair as I have been a loyal customer over the years by purchasing 7 different Toyota/Lexus automobiles with 3 still in my driveway. A case representative with Toyota corporate named Adrian called the Toyota dealership service advisor and the service manager and the dealership agreed to reduce its cost to take care of me as I have had most of my service performed there. Adrian called me and offered for Toyota to pay for the new transmission part if I agreed to pay for the labor to install. I agreed. I was told that he would call me back to confirm. After multiple weeks I finally called Toyota corporate back multiple time and finally Adrian took my call and informed me that the offer made to me was rejected by a higher authority. It is now 01/25/22, so finally after 39 days and time the dealership spent with corporate negotiating a resolution to get this taken care of Toyota reneged on the offer. I have been a very loyal customer but after a transmission failing after only 122k miles and then Toyota reneging on the offer is not what I expected from this car company. I was a very loyal customer to Toyota. Not anymore. Dealership is great. Toyota corporate not so much. How quickly they forgot what made them the top selling manufacturer in North America.
GREAT CAR!
Have just over 3k miles on my camry. Overall this is a great car. I traded in my 2010 highlander limited on this vehicle.Although i went down in price point, this car is just as nice.Has a few more features than my Highlander ie. lane departure warning system and pandora.Mpg is about 30 if i keep my foot out of it. The power is what most surprised me out of a V6. The previous reviewer did not like the seats, but I like them better than the highlander which had almost "0" bolster support. You won't go wrong with this car!
Would be a great car if it had better seats
Our 2012 Camry drove great in every way, very much a driver's car. Bought it with 28k miles. Drove it to 105k miles when a drunk driver wiped it out in January of 2019. Good fuel economy considering the performance, 22-23 around town and easily 33-36 on the highway. A fellow in an F-150 plowed into the back of it hard enough that it crushed the trunk almost to the back seat and shattered the rear window, but out 6yo grandson in his booster seat back there was fine. That said ... Front seats were awful. My wife and I are very different builds, 6'1" vs 5'4", yet the front seats caused back pain for both of us, which we didn't notice so much until our first long trip. Short trips were problematic as well; but I especially dreaded long trips in this car. Back seats were fine for short trips, but also not good for long trips. When we now had to replace it, we specifically did not get another. Toyota automatic HVAC has a pattern of blowing air through the system for a bit whenever the car is started. A new Corolla rental did the same thing. In winter this meant that it would blow cold air onto us, then settle down and wait for the heater temp to rise before picking up again. Also in winter, after it reached the desired temp it would let cold outside air through the vents - not enough to kick the heat back on, but enough to make it chilly. The touchscreen was hesitant to recognize that it had been touched. Had to press firmly for a second to be noticed. The sunroof "accordions" wouldn't stay in. The front bumper cover would pop out repeatedly by the wheel well on each side. An annoying rattle from the rear when going over bumps never was found. Bad reflection of the dash on the windshield when the sun would hit just right would reduce visibility. Power ports would charge my mobile phone only at the slow rate, though the phone would charge at the high rate with the same charger in other cars.

Great Car Need Better Leg Room in Front
purchased this car certified used with lifetime engine warranty and everything is so far great and have only one issue and its mostly due to me being 6'3 and my legs are quite long and during travel 10- 20 mins ride is cool but once I try to ride for 30 to 1 hour of driving my legs starts to hurt due to no resting area for legs and hands also starts hurting due to Constance input to the steering wheel the car drifts left to right when on high ways and its tough to keep it straight and that's due to the electronic steering that Toyota now places on the camry and that's a big issue for long driving periods other that those to faults everything is great love all the features including the blind spot monitor and its work it just miss all the rear feature that the 2007-2011 had that was great rear sun shade and reclining rear seats and adjustable heat rests that was hot but now the cut it all out but its a great car I have 79,000 miles on it and have no issues with engine or transmission so everything is great

Dim headlights
just got new 2012 camry xle -v6. I'm very disappointed with the headlights, they appear bright when you look at them, not as bright as my 2005 camry . I even brought a set of after market bulbs sylvania utra they also appear to be very bright when you look at them but from the drivers seat they do not light up the roadway as i believe they should. drove 35 miles the other night with the high beams on all the way and not one on coming driver flashed their lights back at me. in my05 i have had people flash their lights at me when i just had on low beams. took the car back to the toyota body shop guy checked the headlight adjusted them still to dim, looks like i'll be doing less night driving
