Used 1999 Toyota Avalon Consumer Reviews
XLS Platinum Edition
Oh, baby - if you're thinking about a 99 Avalon, take a long look at the Platinum Edition - I've never seen a better color on a car! Oh yeah, the rest of the car ain't bad either! Just as a basketball team works best when there's great chemistry, the Avalon's combination of attractiveness, safety, comfort, reliability and resistance to depreciation really come together in a great package. I thought about buying an Avalon in 1998 - instead decided to save money and get a Sable. What was I, nuts??
1999 AVALONS ARE THE BEST
This car by far is the best car for under 30,000 fully loaded, this car is a toyota, which is the maker of Lexus, which is the maker of the ES400, This model Avalon is the same exact car...but $10,000 less!
Best Car I've Ever Owned!!
Purchased used with 49000 miles, I've had no problems except a bad O-2 sensor. Wonderful ride, exceptional interior comfort, and a great sound system. My model is the Platinum Edition that came with a few extras including perforated leather seats, custom mats, and custom wheels. Looks better than most newer versions and a whole lot better than the current model. Reeks of quality.
Avalon's a Keeper
Bought this car for my wife (5k-10k miles/year). Now it's my commuter car (25k+ per year; mostly highway but hard-driving miles). Getting high 20's gas mileage. Comfortable, very reliable, very stable (once I had struts & strut mounts replaced) - even at 70-85 mph. Perfect size (smaller than new Avalons) - small enough to get in & out wherever I need to go, big enough to be comfortable & feel safe. Currently 125k miles; I expect 200k+. The car is worth more to me than trade value. Back seat not huge, but not cramped. Large trunk. Strut mounts were the only significant non-wear repairs I have made. If you can buy a well-maintained one for cheap, do it. It will hold up.
Loved it for 18 years
