206,000 mile Bang for the Buck!

What a car! I bought my Avalon used just over 100,000 miles. I have driven through the Rocky Mountains, Montreal Canada, hail, rain, sleet, snow, and perfect weather. I have driven from Fresno CA to Oklahoma City four times in one year. I have driven from Lincoln NE, to Fresno, to Biloxi Mississippi, to Washington DC, Burlington VT, to Montreal, Chicago (in that order). The 6 cylinders offer great response and 30 MPG on the highway. The ride is smooth. The car and trunk are roomy. It even carries a real spare tire! Reliable is an understatement. My dark green paint job looks great too! Great car for the $6500 I paid for it 5 years ago! Need a new O2 censor and my leather seat is worn.

I change my oil 2-3 times each year. I use the a/c when I want. In ATL traffic, I have a 27 mile commute (54 round trip) which requires a lot of stop/go/sit in traffic. With all of this I am still averaging 27 - 29 miles per gallon on regular unleaded gas. Highway miles have yielded as high as 32 miles per gallon with cruise control engaged. My husband is 6'4", I'm 5'2" and the car is quite comfortable for both of us on all types of trips. The car is very quiet inside & out. I hope my car runs another 500000 miles! I'm afraid I'll never find another car with the comfort, reliability, mileage, and looks for a comparable price to what I paid in 1995. I love my car!!!

I love my Avalon. It's roomy inside and has ample trunk space. It would be a good car for a student to have. It's reliable and gets about 23 MPG city. It's certainly not flashy in any way, but mine has some nice features like an electric seat adjuster and a moon roof. It's more responsive than my husband's SUV and it has a nice smooth ride too. So maybe this car isn't a fancy flavor like Rocky Road, It's vanilla, but I can live with that.

reliable car, not fancy, but gets the job done. 171k miles on this 1995 and it looks and runs like the day it was made. body has some surface rust on rear wheel well passenger side, but nothing else and it has spent 21 years in the rust belt of central PA. the cd and cassette/radio still works and sounds solid. trunk is large and the rear seats 3 adults with comfort. all power and everything still works including the door locks which is important in a 4 door car. manages snow/ice with no problem, makes you thankful for the front wheel drive. have seen other avalons with over 375k miles. Have now owned Avalon for 8 months and put 6k miles on it. So far only thing I did to car was changed oil. Still running strong, will get inspected next month. Inspection revealed nothing needed. Had a hitch installed by U-Haul to carry my scooter (I am disabled). I noticed a difference in handling(not for the good), and it bottomed out if I was not very careful. These issues were solved by replacing the rear struts AND coils as these were original equipment. Bought parts online and my mechanic installed for a reasonable 110 dollars for both sides. Total cost was around 400 dollars and it did solve the issue. I plan to replace both front struts and coils this summer. To sum it up. I have enough faith in this car to invest over 1000 dollars total on struts, coils, and hitch/carrier when the car is blue booked at 1400 dollars. Need I say more. June 2017 and Avalon is my everyday car, I have a Mustang I drive for pleasure. The Toyota has 178,000 miles now and I find it a great car for me since I am disabled having had a major stroke in 08. I have limited use of my left side and the Avalon is a forgiving car, if you know what I mean. The struts and coils helped in handling and firmness for hauling my scotter. I still have a hard time believing this car is 22 years old.

This vehicle has been the best of my five cars, including two other fine Toyotas. For ten years I have had almost no repairs. My original brakes are still good. At times I get nearly 45 mpg at 60-65 mph. It continues to handle well in city and highway driving. It continues to look good; I have a garage. It performs well too.
