Hoping this goes better than the Jeep Grand Cherok
11/28/23 Update - Still running the 22 Sr5 Prem I traded up to. Now at 18,000 miles, only issue is same as the 21 model, the parking brake cable was not tight enough, dealer adjusted. So far no issues and am enjoying the BSM on the 22 model. This is not my primary car, and while it drives like a truck, rough, bumbles in some corners, its solid and I like the refinement of the V6 and transmission. I have no plans to trade this one. 11/11/22 update - I ended up selling my 21 4runner, due to the crazy car market, I made money and went and got a 22 4 runner with a few more options for only tax money. The 21 ran fine, never one issue. It doesn't tow as well as my Grand Cherokee did but I can live with that if this car is more trouble free than the Jeep. I had a JGC which I bought new in 2014. Very nice car but the repairs were a little crazy, 109,000 miles later and a new oil cooler, radiator and wheel bearings, CV boots a few times. I am hoping the 4runner is more rock solid for less repairs than my Jeep. I know this is out dated and gets poor gas mileage, but I needed something to two my 20 ft pontoon and other heavier items. This is also my work horse car and not my daily driver so I hope I can live with the ride and poor gas MPG. The good part is if I do trade it in, I won't lose my but like the depreciation that happens on a Jeep. Toyota is a little over 2 grand in a year, the jeep is 10k! I will update my review later next year after I have more seat time and get to do some towing. update 5/10/22 - Towing my pontoon stinks compared to the Jeep. Gas mileage as long as I keep it under 60 isn't too bad. 8000 miles and not a single issue. I ended up selling it during this crazy time and made money off it, and turned around and got a 2022 with more features, and just had to shell out a small amount of money. This one I now plan to keep a while, just wish Toyota would make better seats!

Worst build quality I have ever owned
This truck has so many noises coming from it that the dealer just gave up. It has two suspension noises, and the interior seriously sounds like a bunch of Legos popping on every bump. The sunroof cannot be opened or you have to listen to constant rattles and when it’s vented up, there is a pop so loud that it sounds like some sort of structural problem. It’s just a very, very horrible car if you are used to decent interior quality. If we weren’t living this chip shortage mess, it would be gone with 10,000 miles, but I’m stuck for who knows how long. I’m tired of passengers asking me to turn the radio down only to have to listen to all of the interior problems. First Toyota. Last Toyota.

Awesome as always.
Had a 1993 model this is just what I expected plus more.
2021 4Runner ticked all our boxes
We had been looking at getting a 4Runner for a month or so now. It was between this and the new Honda Pilot, but my wife has always like the 4Runner. We decided against going with the Limited mainly because of its design .. the front end specifically. It's a bummer because there were features in it that I would really have liked to have, like memory seats, auto start etc. However, we are happy with our choice of going with an SR5 Premium. The car handles well and given how loud the engine is, sounds incredibly quiet in the cabin, like super quiet! Our car has BFG All Terrain tires, which are great in the snow, and road noise is surprising low. The ride is incredibly smooth. The previous owners also go the black out treatment on it, and given that the car is black as well, looks just badass!
21 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium
Love the truck! More spacious and more towing capability than my previous vehicle I owned. Gas mileage is not bad either. Currently averaging close to 19 mpg . Dislike so far is the suspension. Has a little nose dive when braking and feels a little bouncy when driving, more noticeable with wind. All can be corrected with upgraded suspension, which I plan to do in the future. Also, wish there was a locking gas door or gas cap provided from factory. Besides that, love the truck power and look of the truck!
