For reader's reference, I traded-in my 2007 Honda Fit Sport to get my new-to-me 2018 Subaru Impreza Touring/Premium (purchased Feb 2021) with 37,000kms on it. In regards to its CVT, I have no issues with it. Early CVT years (2013-2016) I drove Nissans and Toyotas and their CVTs were absolutely horrid. I believe Subaru's CVT in this generation is great. It makes the vehicle good on gas, it does not lag unless you floor it from a stop. I do not mind it. Is it the faster car? No. Will you find it lagging on the highway? Also no. It is great for both in-city and high speed driving. Personally, I will drive it at 140kms/hr on the highway with ease and the car handles fantastic at that high speed. The interior is thoughtfully laid out and looks very good for its price point in my opinion. I have not experienced any infotainment/electrical issues. Apple CarPlay is fantastic and responsive. Pretty good sound system as well. The AWD makes this vehicle perfect in winter months. Good handling. Room for improvement: brighter headlights. I love my car so far.

I bought this car new. It's one of the noisiest interior cars I've owned, and that's with used ones in the mix. It's had 5 recalls (two of those because of class-action lawsuits, including one lawsuit because of bad fuel pumps.) I have the stick and it still has the acceleration of a dead cow. The car sits so low and the front fascia is even lower, so it's not if you hit something, it's when. The auto-dim mirrors are useless with modern LED headlamps, they simply don't filter out the correct light spectrum. The radio has a dorito for it's processor, and it may connect to your phone or it may require yet another factory reset. At 70,000 miles - literally just as the warranty expired - the rear brakes and wheel bearings were bad. The wheel bearing/hub assemblies are terrible designs, and are going to go bad. Again, and again, they will go bad, front and rear. At $267 a bearing you're going to be paying a lot. Parts of this assembly are covered under bulletins they are so bad. I've never had a car suffer a catastrophic failure at this low of a mileage, even a Hyundai will give you 110k before it dies. The only thing I'll give this car is it has an excellent heater, and even in negative temperatures it keeps the cabin so warm you sweat.

2018 Subaru Impreza Hatchback Limited Trim

This car has a nice interior with overall high quality materials and good leather. The infotainment system is lackluster compared to other systems of the time, and sometimes is difficult to use Android auto easily. The exterior is boring and outdated, with a low quality front bumper, which is easily damaged by road debris or undercarriage impacts. The powertrain is the most disappointing part of this car, as the driving experience is boring and lackluster as after 100 mph, the engine just gives up and will have a difficult time accelerating properly. It has a hard time accelerating from standstill for a car of it's size, with a noticeable delay from the CVT, which feels sluggish and unrefined. The car has had several issues with the suspension in both the front and back, and for a 2 year old car, i have had to have the struts replaced as they failed. I have driven this car on Mexican roads with many potholes, and the suspension system just does not hold up. Overall, the vehicle has an OK design and gets the job done, but for the money, I could have gotten something of a lot higher quality. The build quality is average overall, as this car has many creaks and noises which are very obvious. I take it for regular maintenance and checkups often, and the technicians have not been able to find the cause of the loud creaks and have determined that it is just in the vehicle's design and i will just have to deal with the noise. The climate where i live is quite humid and hot for 95% of the year, and the car has shut down randomly about 3 times in the past two years after being on for over an hour. These issues could be from the electrical systems rebooting, however the cause has never been determined and the car will turn on and run perfectly fine after this happens.

Bought it certified used from the dealer, this car rules. I've had it for 4 years now and have 0 complaints. Love the eyesight system, love the interior, and it's a decent looking car too. Has enough power, and the AWD is great. PLUS 34mpg combined is pretty amazing.
