SNOW MACHINE!

This is my first Subaru and probably not my last! I bought this car brand new April of 2014 and since then have put on 26,000 miles. I live in the mountains of Vermont, where last year we got more snow than anywhere else in the lower 48 states. This little car performed like a champ! I often times drove out of my driveway that was covered in a fresh 12 inches of snow (Without snow tires!). I average 30 MPG, which I find to be great considering it's AWD and I have a few mountains that I traverse everyday. If you need good gas mileage and a car that can get you through the worst of winters, this is it! I also like that it comes standard with almost every modern safety feature. As of now no repairs, just oil changes.

Safe vehicle for your family and confident in less then desirable weather!

This is my 2nd Subaru, with owning a fuel efficient Prius C in between so I has been spoiled by AWD and high fuel efficiency in the past, so I wanted to find something that combined the best of both worlds. When I came looking back at Subaru they said this was the highest MPH AWD vehicle, but I was kinda burned by the head gasket issues of my Earlier 2002 Forester at 90K. However with this being a smaller redesigned engine, and reviewing comments on earlier years of this generation. my only concern was oil consumption some had experienced. I gently broke my vehicle in, and I have had no problems in this department! and if you keep it on open roads at 55-65 mph cruise you will do 36+mpg

Love My Subarus!!!

To say I love Subarus is actually understating the facts. I just purchased my fourth Impreza. I am a nurse and live in Northeastern Ohio where the weather can be very intimidating especially when oftentimes I'm up and on the roads before the plows. No only have my Subarus been terrific on the road but each of them has been really fun to drive. What I like best, other than the AWD, is the reliability. My 2009 Impreza had 200,000 hard driven miles on it when something went in the transmission. Waiting to have it diagnosed. However, engine still starts immediately and am seriously considering having it fixed to use as third car because I loved it so much. Bought another Impreza next day

This is a great little car. Very reliable, great quality, and value. Security of all wheel drive. It is not a fast car, and a little boring, but it will never let you down, and gets 30 -31 mpg. Every tank full. Very, very, dependable, if you do you basic services, they usually go 2-300 thousand or more. Only one downside, the radio speakers are pure trash. Oh yes, this is our 8th. Subaru, use to live in Michigan, very good car for snow and wet.

Great gas saver for North Country

I bought my Impreza brand new and now have about 3,000 miles on it. So its still very new. However I am averaging 31MPG on the mountain roads of Vermont. I was pleased to see that I got Power windows, power locks, bluetooth, aux/usb, and a CD player in the basic model. I added the roof rack, spoiler, and mud guards which makes the car look good. I would recommend adding those if you are getting the base model, otherwise they look like a toyota matrix. As far as comfort goes its not to bad. I fit as a 6'2 205lbs man. The hatchback provides plenty of space for groceries and camping equipment..... If you are concerned with MPG and need AWD then this is a wise choice.

Car only has 3000 miles [not 'broken in' yet!] and I'm getting 27-29 mpg city, 34 highway [85/15%] - using math, not dash computer. Doing posted speed; cruise control whenever possible; no jack-rabbiting. Can't wait until it's broken in!! Didn't want the biggest car, the fastest car, the most impressive car. Wanted reliable, safe, nimble and GREAT gas mileage and my Impreza delivers on all counts. Gets me to my destination with no worries about road/weather conditions. Nimble steering; low profile not bothered much by high winds. Ride comfort is acceptable. Main complaint is the red dash lite - really? What idiot OK'd that?? Bluetooth great, radio could be better but have had much worse.

My family has been buying Subaru's my whole life. We've always driven them "into the ground" if you will. I commute a total of 64 miles a day and travel a lot through out the year. I love hiking and mountain biking and this Subaru was the perfect fit for my life style. Even my Great Pyrenees loves it! At 26,000 miles, my center differential went bad and Subaru gave me a brand new CVT Transmission. I've kept up with all my maintenance and take pride in keeping my car in great condition. At 136,500 miles, I started noticing a shudder in my transmission. Mainly in first and second gear. Then the next day, it was significantly worse. I experience the shudder in third and fourth gear, but not as bad. I contacted Subaru of America since they extended the warranty on the CVT by 100,000 due to customer complaints. I'm obviously over that limit and they weren't too willing to help out. The best option they had was to give me a trade-in with credits towards a new Subaru. I'm hesitant to take this offer and haven't made a decision yet, but I wanted to share my story. I really, really love this car. It brings me to tears to think I might sell it. I hope this helps someone else <3

After 1 year driving this car, overall I"m fairly happy with it. Good: Excellent mileage for AWD vehicle and weight of car - safety good Very roomy front leg room for tall people Great visibility Car does not get stuck in snow Needs improvement: Braking worse than Honda FIt I had before on slick roads in spite of AWD Bouncy suspension Loose steering - not the greatest at holding in lanes at expressway speeds No padding the seats - took ages for me to get used to them and still not great for long trips If I wasn't living in snow country I wouldn't have this car. The steering is more than annoying and the traction at least on the wagon version of the Impreza is strange. If the steering was better I would like it much better than I do - maybe my car is flawed. Cannot recommend this car however.

Bought my Subuaru Impreza Sport Limited hatchback from Len Ciotti at Doyle Subaru in Webster. Len had been helping me look for a car for a few months before that. No pressure in purchasing the vehicle at all, he would let me test drive whenever I had the time to do so and he helped me find a car that was within my budget. The car had even more features than I initially knew about when I bought the car. Heated leather seats, heated side mirrors, heated windshield wipers, rear view camera, touch to talk bluetooth capabilities, auto dimming rear view mirror, and automatic climate control to name a few. This was the car I have been looking for. I have only had it for a few weeks and this is my third Subaru now. So far it rides very smooth and is surprisingly quiet. Being that it is the limited edition it is very comfortable and I do feel slightly higher off the ground than in my previous Impreza sedan. Slightly higher gas mileage in the city than my previous Subaru as well. I can't attest to the maintenance yet. It has snowed a couple of times and it handles well, gripping the road around turns and not slipping from a stop. I would recommend this car to anyone, but I am little biased being a loyal Subaru fan.

I bought my Impreza with about 108,000 miles on it and I've put about 10,000 miles on it and it is a fantastic car. It comes standard with Subaru's A-Symmetrical All Wheel Drive, which is great if you live in areas where it snows, it gets great fuel economy, the interior slightly better than what you would find in some other cars at this size and price point, and it has been rock-solid reliable. The handling is not sporty, but it is sharp and confident which makes it very comfortable at highway speeds. Subaru designed a new engine in the redesigned Impreza in 2013, so it no longer suffers from a head gasket issue, which has been a costly repair for past Subaru owners. It also earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick Award in the Small Overlap Front, Moderate Overlap Front, and Side crash tests. It also has a lot of backseat room and trunk space for how small it is, you can fit 3 people in the back but the middle seat is small so it is better with just 2 people. Another item of note is that Bluetooth phone connectivity is standard on all except for the base trim. The only downsides to this car is that the engine, a 2.0 Liter Boxer 4-Cylinder, provides mediocre performance and sounds like it's running out of breath when merging onto a highway on-ramp, but then again, it is in no way marketed to be a Sports Car; if you want that, go get yourself a WRX. The CVT (continuously variable transmission) works well in improving fuel economy, but it does amplify engine noise when you need the extra power to accelerate. The standard sound system isn't the best, but other than those minor annoyances, this car is fantastic. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a safe, reliable, and efficient economy car.

10 Months of Regret

When I initially purchased this car I think I wanted to like it more than I actually have. After having this car for 10 months I'm baffled at how it got so may glowing "professional" reviews. For starters the steering on this car is just plain sloppy at higher speeds making lane control more difficult than it should be. It also gets tossed around like crazy if it's windy. Keeping this car under control on the freeway is a constant chore. The car also lets in a ton of outside noise especially at high speeds making a freeway drive even more miserable; as a whole the car feels like it has little to no insulation. Fuel economy is bad for how little power the engine delivers. The interior or the car gives a good first impression, but the longer you spend time in it the more you notice most of the door is cheap hard plastic that easily gets dinged and has zero durability, you discover a complete lack of usable storage, and a cargo/hatch area that is so narrow it's virtually useless. Part of the reason I got this car is everyone said "Asian cars are more reliable than American cars"... well that's a lie considering the HVAC fan and both front wheel bearings have needed to be replaced since I got the car (had 26k when I bought it, has 34k 10 months later). I've also had to deal with the wipers glitching out; they get stuck in the up position making me have to turn them off then back on to reset them, on two occasions the remote/electric lock system refused to unlock the car (lock light on dash was flashes like a strobe light) forcing me to use the key to unlock the door. The only redeeming qualities I can think of is that the car is very effective in snow and has great messy weather "traction" and the heated seats are comfortable. If I'm being frank, the 16 year old Grand Am I had before this had much better steering, had similar fuel economy but more power and was quieter.

Overall this car is pretty good! I have about 5,000 miles on it so its still pretty new. The car is very light so on windy days the car does get punched around a bit but not a big deal. The sound system blows ass but is better than the 2005 Impreza I drove before. The only complaint I have is that when I'm driving on a shitty road with a lot of bumps I hear a slight rattle coming from the back of the interior when I hit bumps but it only does it hear and there and lately seems to have stopped. But nothing major. The build of the car such as the suspension is awesome and when driving you can tell its strong. The interior quality is built well for the most part except for a couple little areas

Great Gas Mileage, great in snow but

Love the gas mileage, great in the snow. Drawbacks is the car is very small inside, extremely low to the ground, the seat interior picked up every bit of lint or hair and was hard to get off. When you park the car it scrapes against any parking burn because it’s so low to the ground. If you can overlook these things it’s reliable.

I purchased my Subaru Impreza Limited Hatchback brand new in July, 2014 and it has been pretty much trouble free, minus some tire issues since then. I highly recommend changing the stock Yokohama Avid tires for something better, because they're simply junk; and expensive junk at that. Although the interior is much more *clears throat* conservative than other vehicles in its class, nor does it have an intuitive navigation unit (Which is an option that my vehicle has), it makes up for it with its impressive cargo room, comfortable driving position, AWD, and killer MPG. I've easily gotten 38 MPG on long highway trips not driving at a snail's pace. This is my first Subaru and it certainly won't be my last. However, I plan on taking this little chubby beast for 200,000 miles.

I've had my base model Impreza sedan for about six months now, and I have already put over 12000 miles on it. This car was a fantastic value! I live in MN, so an AWD is essential. It's no WRX, but the 2.0 with a five speed manual gets up to highway speed with ease. I am averaging 34mpg with mixed driving. Gets around 40 on the highway if you know how to drive properly. I'm a fairly tall man, 6'5 and this thing has tons of head and leg room. I check the oil with every fill-up, and it has not used a drop of oil. I have the oil changed every 3500-4000 miles, even though i'm sure it would make it to 5k with no issues. This is my first Subaru and it won't be my last!

I insisted on the manual transmission (which was not easy to find, but the manager of the dealership I went to did an excellent job of tracking one down for me) - so the acceleration is very good, unlike with the CVTs. Heated seats are wonderful in cooler weather, especially since I tend to have back/neck issues. This car is "eager", especially when upshifting; it's a lot of fun to drive and loves to hug curves! It feels solid, very well made, and safe. Fantastic grip in all sorts of weather, but it does get blown around in wind more easily than I'd like. Sound system could definitely be better, but not a deal-breaker for me. I have only had 2 issues with the car so far: 1. Every 3 or 4 months, I need to add air to the front right tire. Perhaps there could be a VERY slow leak; but so far, no one has been able to see any holes or unusual wear. Issue # 2: Faulty oil sensor. 2,000 miles before my last oil change was due, the low oil warning light came on. But I still had plenty of oil left. Dealership replaced it free of charge. Now, once again, 2,000 miles before I'm due for an oil change, the new sensor is telling me I'm low. Oil level is within "normal" range, but on the lower end. Added about 1/3 quart in hopes that the light would stop coming on; the level is now right in the middle of where it's supposed to be. No luck. It doesn't come on when I first start the car, but it only after 1-2miles of driving. It remains until I turn the engine off. I have another appointment at the dealership this weekend. For the record though, the car still runs as perfect as the day I bought it. I love this thing and I'm going to hold on to it as long as I can!

This is the first Subaru I've owned and I am quite pleased with it. Fuel economy is great - especially for an all wheel drive vehicle! As my son said as we were going around a corner at speed, "you can't tell that you are going around a corner!" He was speaking of the car body not leaning. I don't weigh a lot so the seats are a little hard on my less than padded posterior but acceptable none the less. I haven't had do have any repairs done but I've only put 16,000 miles on it. Exiting the back seat is a little difficult if you have long legs (adult). Interior is a bit noisy at highway speed but I just turn up the stereo to mask it. (Update: My daughter bought the car from me and she loves it! Still no major repairs yet, knock on wood! Almost 90,000 miles and still gets great fuel economy. This car is amazing on snowy, icy roads , which is one of the reasons she loves it!)!! Update: Have driven this amazing car for a while and it impressed me enough that I purchased a newer Subaru Legacy! The Impreza has been relatively trouble free, just one small problem with the electrical connection to the HVAC (heating and air conditioning) control unit.

3K in repairs by age 4-1/2

I took the car for service at 4.5 years (warranty was to 4.0 years) because A/C didn't work. Car had 37K miles on it. Dealer told me I needed compressor for A/C and new brakes front and rear. Total bill was $3200. I live in the snow belt and don't use the A/C much. A 4.5-yr-old A/C shouldn't need such an expensive repair. As to brakes, I had NO PROBLEM with the brakes. Dealer said the linings were very thin, but other dealer 2 months earlier said linings were very good. I'm a careful driver, don't slam on brakes etc., and had driven less than 1000 miles between the two dealer visits. My dealer said brakes were so bad you had to slam your foot on the brakes to stop the car. That's entirely untrue. I've been driving for 60 years and I can tell when my brakes need work. So dealer lied to me re brakes and A/C failed way too soon. I just traded the car in on another brand and will never buy from Subaru again.

With decent all weather tires, and the paddle shifters (optional add-on) in a pinch, this car was great. But it is the absolute worst car I have ever owned. Multiple electrical problems that took the dealer multiple trips (and me being an absolute bulldog) to fix (and, in one case, never fixed, unless you believe that the seat warmers almost never actually working is because they are "weather sensitive" lol), including one just under the nose. Even worse, oil consumption issues (and, yes, I used the pricey synthetic oil), that were covered under a warranty extension that I never was informed about when I did the (again, pricey) 30,000-mile interval services at licensed dealers. Dead transmission less than 2 months after that last interval service. And I mean, dead, it totally died suddenly - potentially dangerous. Subaru doesn't seem to care (because they know about it, clearly). Many lemon model years, do your research. But, hey, it handled well in the snow.

My 2014 Impreza Sedan is 5 years old, and while I’ve only put 25,000 miles on it, it’s a great dependable car and does an incredible job in the New England snow. We’ve had a lot of problems with cars not being able to handle winters in this region, and the Impreza is the best car I’ve driven in the winter. Makes me feel very secure. In 5 years, the only big problem I’ve had with it is needing to get the air conditioning services many times.

I've owned my 2014 Impreza Limited for 6 months and 7K miles. I bought it fully loaded with 900 miles on it (repossessed) from the dealer for $22,500. Its a fun, tight drive with remarkable fuel efficiency. I get 45 mpg at 55 mph, 40 at 65, and 36 at 70 with fwy driving. Overall 36 fwy, 32 mixed and 28 city. Efficiency drops noticeably when using the paddle shifters on country roads! Absolutely no problems so far, just lots of fun.

This car makes me feel safer than any car I have driven. The gas mileage is incredible. The hatchback storage still surprises me with how much I can put back there including my dog :) The Bluetooth option is great. This car is sexy and practical. The amount of adventures I have been on because of this vehicle has made a huge difference in life. The only downsides I have experienced is that the security beeps and locks sounds are loud lol and the blindspot is a little tough at times. Other than that its perfect!

A great buzz around car! I’ve owned this car for 2 1/2 years. It’s zippy enough and has lots of room for schlepping groceries and items for my business. I sold it because I wanted something more luxurious. Now that I have my luxurious car I do miss the agility and practicality of my Impreza hatchback.

First of all let me begin by saying, I love Subarus, this was the second impreza I've owned, the first being a 98 2.2L hatchback. When i purchased this vehicle my old car had just kicked the curb and I needed one quickly. Im satisfied with my purchase, but really wish I had done some more research and shopping around before I had bought it. There's not much to complain about with it, but also not much to brag about. What I love most about this car is the way it hugs corners and drives so smooth. My biggest mechanical complaint would be with the headlights, within 3 months of purchasing it off the lot from subaru (certified pre owned) I had to replace the bulbs, and I've had to replace them twice with out even owning it a year. The most recent time I discovered corrosion all over the bulb connector, waiting to get that inspected soon..
