60,000 miles and no problems. AWD gives a confident feeling in rain, snow and cornering.

I insisted on the manual transmission (which was not easy to find, but the manager of the dealership I went to did an excellent job of tracking one down for me) - so the acceleration is very good, unlike with the CVTs. Heated seats are wonderful in cooler weather, especially since I tend to have back/neck issues. This car is "eager", especially when upshifting; it's a lot of fun to drive and loves to hug curves! It feels solid, very well made, and safe. Fantastic grip in all sorts of weather, but it does get blown around in wind more easily than I'd like. Sound system could definitely be better, but not a deal-breaker for me. I have only had 2 issues with the car so far: 1. Every 3 or 4 months, I need to add air to the front right tire. Perhaps there could be a VERY slow leak; but so far, no one has been able to see any holes or unusual wear. Issue # 2: Faulty oil sensor. 2,000 miles before my last oil change was due, the low oil warning light came on. But I still had plenty of oil left. Dealership replaced it free of charge. Now, once again, 2,000 miles before I'm due for an oil change, the new sensor is telling me I'm low. Oil level is within "normal" range, but on the lower end. Added about 1/3 quart in hopes that the light would stop coming on; the level is now right in the middle of where it's supposed to be. No luck. It doesn't come on when I first start the car, but it only after 1-2miles of driving. It remains until I turn the engine off. I have another appointment at the dealership this weekend. For the record though, the car still runs as perfect as the day I bought it. I love this thing and I'm going to hold on to it as long as I can!

This is the first Subaru I've owned and I am quite pleased with it. Fuel economy is great - especially for an all wheel drive vehicle! As my son said as we were going around a corner at speed, "you can't tell that you are going around a corner!" He was speaking of the car body not leaning. I don't weigh a lot so the seats are a little hard on my less than padded posterior but acceptable none the less. I haven't had do have any repairs done but I've only put 16,000 miles on it. Exiting the back seat is a little difficult if you have long legs (adult). Interior is a bit noisy at highway speed but I just turn up the stereo to mask it. (Update: My daughter bought the car from me and she loves it! Still no major repairs yet, knock on wood! Almost 90,000 miles and still gets great fuel economy. This car is amazing on snowy, icy roads , which is one of the reasons she loves it!)!! Update: Have driven this amazing car for a while and it impressed me enough that I purchased a newer Subaru Legacy! The Impreza has been relatively trouble free, just one small problem with the electrical connection to the HVAC (heating and air conditioning) control unit.

3K in repairs by age 4-1/2

I took the car for service at 4.5 years (warranty was to 4.0 years) because A/C didn't work. Car had 37K miles on it. Dealer told me I needed compressor for A/C and new brakes front and rear. Total bill was $3200. I live in the snow belt and don't use the A/C much. A 4.5-yr-old A/C shouldn't need such an expensive repair. As to brakes, I had NO PROBLEM with the brakes. Dealer said the linings were very thin, but other dealer 2 months earlier said linings were very good. I'm a careful driver, don't slam on brakes etc., and had driven less than 1000 miles between the two dealer visits. My dealer said brakes were so bad you had to slam your foot on the brakes to stop the car. That's entirely untrue. I've been driving for 60 years and I can tell when my brakes need work. So dealer lied to me re brakes and A/C failed way too soon. I just traded the car in on another brand and will never buy from Subaru again.
