Riding a Camel
This SUV sways with high wind and if your in an emergency situation where you have to slam on your brakes, it cruises and does not work well. I've experienced stepping on the brakes and feel like the wheels are riding on stones, but those brakes are 10-10....? For this rating, why would people need to provide author age, gender, or kids under 12?

Great car with only avg fuel econ
Generally spritely, and is a Jack rabbit at highway speeds! The CVT feels quite different from my old 2002 Forester, mostly in delay of acceleration. Its initial acceleration feels somewhat spongier, but it really goes compared to my earlier 2002 Forester that only had a 2.3 liter engine. Average fuel economy keeps me from being ecstatic. Subaru really needs to get on the green wagon...really. Should be ashamed to not be offering competitive hybrids/electric vehicles, absolutely no excuse for a major auto manufacturer to ignore alternatives. A bit annoying that actual gas mileage is usually about 1.5 mpg lower than computer says. All together, though, I really love this car. It’s somewhat noisy in windy conditions. I’ve not had any oil usage like other reviewers have complained of. Accelerates like a jack rabbit especially at highway speeds.

nice car
This has been a good trouble free car with only one maintenance issue. The front end required realignment and the adjustment threads were already close to maxed out from the factory , but the alignment was accomplished with no other problems (this is not covered under warranty) I traded the car after 57000 miles because we wanted a car with more safety features. Our Forrester did not have Eyesight, our mistake. The biggest gripe I have with the car is the speedometer is almost impossible to read in bright sunlight. Subaru advertises guaranteed trade in value, but when it was time to trade, other dealers offered more trade in and were more inclined to come down further from MSRP.

2015 Subaru Forester-good handling bad ac
I like the way the forester rides and handles. The awd is great in the rain. I got it for that and the safety rating. But the interior materials are not great. Several of the plastic pieces on the dash are fading or peeling. I have 64,000 miles and already on the 3rd set of tires. Not sure what that is from the geolanders it came with barely made it to 20k. Also air conditioning seems to have issues. It never blows as cold or not cold at all as my Honda or Jeep did. Dealer doesn’t seem to know either. Not pleased about the additional maintenance this needs either. 2019 definitely looks more promising with more features.

The suv that's inexpensive to own
There's two problems with this suv. 1.The material of the interior seems cheap, not a good quality of leather.2. The 2.5 liter 4 cylinder has an oil consumption problem at 36000 mi the suv now has 57000 oil requires 1to 2 quarts added between 5000 mile oil changes. The dealership is useless in getting any documentation in this matter. They just wait you out till the warranty expires,so they're not responsible any longer.

Air conditioning compressor and hot climates
If you live in a climate with hot temperatures, beware that Subaru reduced the size of the compressor for the air conditioner in the newer Foresters (not sure for other models). It doesn’t make sense to me, especially if you live in a hot climate, eg the Texas Hill Country, (or if you are a woman with hot flashes). The A/C unit was much better in my 2003 Forester than in my 2015. If you’re stuck in traffic, the A/C output is bad. You may want to consider another car especially with the hot temperatures we have now, like I am.
Perfect Go Anywhere Anytime
Favorite vehicles provide a perfect fit for driver and passengers, and that's what the 2015 Forester Premium has provided for me. It is comfortable, roomy, spirited, economical, always ready to go anywhere anytime with superb visibility in any weather.

One Detail
I love my Forester! The only complaint I have is the heater for the feet is non-existent. I live at 10,500 feet. It is absolutely necessary to warm your feet after activities outside. Nope. Not with this vehicle. Subaru I hope you have fixed this fault!!!
drives mountains like a panther! love it!

great car
Great car nice ride good gas mileage low maintenance cost.
Fast, comfy, different, strong. Love it!
My first modern Subaru (I've had two SVX's) and I am really happy with it. No major breakdowns or failures in 7 years. Front suspension bushes fail every couple of years but the roads here are like assault courses! No-one loves the CVT gearbox but it gets the job done. A comfortable highway cruiser, and SO much more fun than a Honda or Toyota equivalent

Best Bang for the Buck
Did the PM (not always through the dealer) and kept records. Got top dollar for the car and and in almost 7 years of service and NO problems. Keep up the preventative maintenance and and you can get 15 years or more out of them.

Just love the transmission
2015 2.5 with CVT, 160,000km. Converted me from a CVT-sceptic to a CVT-champion. Driven sedately, the Lineartronic CVT mated with the flat four 2.5 motor is a perfect match - a "liquid" drive my mechanic brother describes it. Very quite and very smooth. The CVT doesn't flare and returns consistent 8.8km/100l both round town and on the highway. On the down side, while the motor/transmission are near silent there is a lot of wind noise over the large mirrors and 'quarter lights' inserts drivers/passenger doors. Local Subaru service centre (Subaru, Lower Hutt) highly recommended. Standard service @ $400 includes very thorough examination, with optional up-sells ("front suspension bushes wearing, these are a WOF item") that can up the cost but the option is yours. I intend holding on to this car for another 10 years and another 100K km. It is a very pleasurable driving experience, very roomy, solid build (no squeaks/rattles).

Love it
I love the car the only thing is that there are so many safety improvements since I bought it that I am thinking of trading but not having a payment and a car that runs so well is something that I have to think about.

Still a great ride after 10 years of ownership!
Only 46000 miles on my Subaru, can find nothing to complain about. There were two recalls on the vehicle that the dealer dealt with in a very timely manner. Dealer may have been grumpy some times but they are human , in the overall I have been treated very well.

Almost got my family killed! Failed Transmision!
Transmission completely failed as I was pulling onto the highway. Luckily, we were on a hill, so I was able to roll back and get out of the way of oncoming 55mph traffic in the dark. The car only had 114,000 miles on it had been regularly maintained and then had complete transmission failure (would not engage in drive or reverse at all). The car did not have any previous signs of transmission problems so this was completely sudden, and it left us stranded near a busy highway intersection in the dark, waiting for a tow truck. After doing some research, continuous variable transmission (CVT) failure is very common on this car. I opened a case with Subaru of America advocacy to see if they would help cover some of the cost since they often do if at/under 100K miles, but they provided no help to me since I was a bit over the 100K mileage mark. The quote to replace the transmission at my local dealership was $9,773. I will not buy a Subaru again.

Malfunctioning air conditioner
I purchased a 2015 Subaru Forester SUV from a Subaru dealer in my neighborhood. I did know that the air conditioner was not working properly and was told it will be repaired. Not the case. I went on a 250 mile round trip and the air conditioner worked intermittently to now it wouldn’t work at all. I had wanted the dealer to replace the air conditioner but they refused. Said they added air conditioner fluid and it is working fine. I did buy an extended warranty that will cover the problem. I am unhappy that the dealer lied to me. They did not want to spend the money to fix it before they sold it. They will have the warranty take care of it. This car was purchased as a Subaru certified preowned Subaru by the way. I will be taking the car back to the dealership this week to have it serviced. I did have the dealership void the $100 service fee for three months. I hope the air conditioner is replaced and no further problems. Other than that, I like the vehicle.
Good car but worries with the turbo charged engine
Have been driving the XT touring car for 4 years. Had some computer issues initially but, overall a fun car to drive. I do think that the concern about why Subaru stopped making the Turbo engine and prior problems with are a point of concern as the engine gets older

2015 forester 2.5l eye CVT 2nd 590 w coils on top.
It goes fishing camping lost in logging roads where maps need garmin sticks cuz outa cell or internet, but gps in console tells ur wife where u are. I need the sticks that are not sold for 2015 Navi. 2017 Navi can use garmin sticks and all roads are there for region ur in. Use cellphone download prior ok, But sometimes u need a new way when road is busted. Never had cvt problem or awd problem, it flashes when lose grip on wheel, but it keeps moving; sometimes it says tooo much and rest a bit.... the old 2003 4rnr said cool the brakes a lot, the subi does it less. When on the freeway going 65 it has paused to idle 9 times, so I drive the slo lane so I can come to a stop with no error lites lit, it then goes right back to normal 65 again. Took it to subi 3 times for 1 75 dollar payment, left it a few days, and not able to reproduce so no replacement yet. ... I think it’s a loose wire to the coils that causes the idle rpm to occur. I also drive fast with my shoes off and it never fails (size 12).
