Saturn sucks
It is with great displeasure that I evaluate this vehicle. I had always thought Saturn was so great- WRONG. The Virginia Beach Saturn dealership helped the prvate seller screw me. I took the car to them before purchasing- the next day when I went back ( after purchasing the car) there was a $500 problem that they "missed" the day before. They wouldn't even give me back the $100 I spent on thier "certified used car inspection." the Car has been a money pit ever since. ( About $2,000 worth of repairs each of the 2 years). SATURN SUCKS!
Underrated Sport Compact Wagon
I purchased a 1995 SW2 soon after I was T-boned at an intersection and totaled my earlier car (a 1994 SC1 - which held up very well in the accident. I have sampled a number of cars over the years since there are couple of car dealerships in the family so I have lots to compare to the SW2. The SW2 was a big surprise, the handling is tight and particularly good for Canadian winters. The DOHC engine is buzzy but powerful-a good hill climber. The 5-speed manual has good clutch take- up. Surprisingly there are lots of aftermarket performance parts. I added some low cost mods-a cone air intake and front strut bar - very noticeable inprovements- recommended.
SL1 Saturn
I bought my car used over 5 years ago and it is one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. It is all manual, so you can push it to drive hard and scoot around anybody that you need to. It may not have the most comfortable seats, but it is certanitly reliable!
Love this Car
Bought it about a yera ago. Aside from a few repairs after a wreck, this car is a tank. I blew a tire, rear-ended someone and it only got a few scratches and a slightly loosened engine mount ($450 total for 4 tires and mount!). That ladies car was wrecked. Cost $20 to fill the thing at $2.51 per gal. and is easy to maintain. Never have problems outside of usual maintenance.
Most reliable car ever owned
Bought this car in 2000 with 60,000 miles. This was the most reliable car I have ever owned. Routine maintenance performed along with replaced alternator and serpentine belt and that's it, in nine years! Excellent gas mileage. The interior however is very cheaply made. Alot of cheap plastic, not built for comfort. But those who want a practical car...very good! No rust, sporty looking. Not very powerful either.
