Classy old car
My 93 Bonnie has been in my family for 20+ years. I've owned it personally since 2013. Has power mirrors, automatic headlights, sunroof, and power seats. Great visibility. Acceleration is adequate. My mileage is 16-18 city and 27-30 highway. Great highway cruiser; VERY comfortable and roomy. I think the styling of this car was way ahead of its time - still looks clean and respectable two decades later (I also like the dash layout a lot). The only downsides I can think of are poor handling and turning radius (no U-turns in this car!). It's had plenty of repairs in the last four years (lots of hoses/lines have been replaced, along with sensors and fuel pump) but that's expected at its age. No problems at all with engine or transmission. 3800s are wonderful. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a car that's inexpensive, roomy, comfortable, and gets better gas mileage than almost any other large car. It's been fantastic for me.

Feels great!
Just bought it a few weeks ago, but I bought it with 72000 miles in 2002, and have no problems with noise, its has great get up and go, and the stereo system is good too, but I'm looking forward to a CD player. A great car, and plenty of room!
10 year old SSE and still going strong
When I bought this SSE, the dealer 2 red Grand Prix 2-doors, 5 red Grand Am 2-doors and a the white SSE. Dom "The Snake" Purdome drove the car during his farewell visit to the Sears Nationals in Topeka, Ks. We took delivery on the car. The first 30,000 miles were put on the car between Topeka and KC driving to and from work. The car got broken in right. The Great White has gotten 34 miles per gallon on long trips. At 131,000 miles she has gone through 4 alternators, three sets of tires, 3 sets of brakes, and two sets of struts and shocks. The car still has the original computer and everything else.
It is a blast to drive!
I bought the car used with relatively high-mileage. I was a little concern about the mileage but after I spoke to GM dealers, taxi drivers, my concern about the engine and drive train become less and less. It is a blast to drive. Handling is excellent plus with traction control you can't beat it. Excellent dash board layout head and tail lamp closed circuit monitoring for burnt light bulb.
Great for high mileage drivers
I drive close to 40,000 miles a year. Combined HWY/CITY driving. I get oil changes every 3,000 miles, and have to replace the brake pads once a year. That's absolutely all for maintenance! I love this car. Close to 200,000 miles and I wouldn't trade it in for anything. Very pleased owner. Have driven cross country, and easily averaged 450+ miles per tank!! Normal city/hwy for me is 325 per tank. Safe car too!
21 years of owership
I have owned this car for so long its like an old friend. the car has only left me stranded once since I have owned it. over the years I have had to replace starters, batteries, an alternator and power steering pump. at 180,000 miles the transmission was getting a little weak so I had it rebuilt. the car now is over 230,000 miles and still runs strong. it has developed other problems now, such as one of the back doors don't open. electrical seat and dash gauges only work when they want too, but the car still starts every time.

The last GREAT car pontiac made
I have owned a gold 94 SSEi supercharged for 5 yrs, I just wrecked it and caved in the entire left side [totaled]... I LOVED this car....it was my wife's daily driver and never gave less than 35mpg, as long as you drove like you had sense and didn't open it up, BUT when I did open it up WOW I took that car to 169mph [I turned off the 155mph governor] and it didn't even thibk twice about it, it felt solid and connected to the road even at that speed. the seats are so comfortable that my wife is making me install them in her 01 aztek I bought to replace it. the car gave us relatively few probs I will certainly miss her.
Good Car!
I have had real good luck with my Bonneville. I bought it used in 94' with 40k miles on it. I was a little skeptical about it but it was loaded with all the features I wanted. So here I am 10 years and 150K miles later. All I have done is routine care and maint for the most part. I did have some brake work (master cylinder and reservoir) as well as alternator replacement.
Bonnevilles for life
I have own three Bonneville's and I'm only 22. Two 94 SE's and one 2003 SLE 94's have 182000 and 149000 on them and still running strong. 2003 has 124000 and is running flawlessly! Never anything but regular maintenance done to any of them owned the 94's for 4 and 2 years and the 03 for 2. If you change oil they'll last forever. People complain about their cars not being very good, it all depends on the previous owners and how they took care of them and drove them. If they drove the hell out of them then they wont be as reliable as cars that were taken care of. I'd never own anything but a Bonneville.
I'll buy another SSEi
I have SSEi 1993.. with full options..I'm used to driving this car for 7 years, Its very very good car,the handling is great it's always under control, high qyality interior materials, excellent engine,I'd recomend it to anyone.
Hopefully A Lemon
I had to replace the engine, fuel pump, front suspension, alternater(twice), radiator. The car has sprung leaks on me 5 different times. The climate control is broken. Steering wheel controls only work if the temperature is below 50 degrees. The only gages that work are the spedometer and tach. All the interior light casings have fallen off. I've been through two brake jobs. Front stabilizers have gone 3 times causing brand new $125 tires to wear improperly. The car will not accelerate for three minutes after ignition. Wipers will not turn off, must always have on the lowest delay setting.
What a Car!
I have owned this car for five years and have put on 120,000 miles on top of the 50,000 it came with. when I bought the car in 98 I replaced the alternator, then replaced it again in 2001 and last year I replaced the brakes. THAT'S IT!!!
Big car and blind spots
It is a very big/ safe feeling in the car. but i swear a full tank of gas would go in like half a day. it eats it up, The blind spots are annoying. But pretty comfortable, i've fallen asleep in it. but overall i'm not sure if id suggest it unless you are planning to take residence in it
Best car I ever had.
The best car i have owned yet. 1 alternator change but the 4wheel anti lock brake has gone out twice. I use castrol oil in it ever 3,000 miles. 133k miles and she still has all the pep as when i first got it. The car is mechanically awesome.
3800 power
We bought the Bonneville to be used as our family car. This car has fit the bill very well. I was extremely pleased with the gas milage and overall comfort of this vehicle. After 9 years the thing drives like the day we purchased it. No complaints as of yet.
1993 Bonneville
Nice heavy ride, car has comfort-ride suspension option. 16" wheels. Bought used at 80k. 173k now. Needs rebuilt auto tranny and consequently will put in a new engine...lower end raps. Still decent fuel economy, passes emissions check , no problem. Likely needs a fuel pump as well and struts replaced, but this car has not been too expensive to maintain because few things have gone wrong.
great
great car .10 years withouth any problems.
Great car
We bought this car about 5 years ago with 60,000 miles on it. A little old lady drove it before me. I don't know how many miles are on it as is has stopped at 108,000 and has been stopped for awhile. I have replaced the master cylinder and fuel pump. Currently the starter is going out but haven't replaced it cause it hasn't completely quit yet. I love this car. It is a family car and yet sporty. I look at all the other cars on the road and they all just blend in together. I know this car will last a long time but i wish forever.
Great car
bought the car used with 161k on it. Now over 193k and still going strong. Engine and trans are still fine and shows no sign of any problems
Great Bonneville
Bought car for my wife, as we both like them. Very reliable, had to replace alternator and EGR valve. Outstanding gas mileage, 30 mpg regularly on road. Currently looking for another, and I will drive this one. Transmission is mushy, like GM products of the 70's, but doesn't bother me.
What a nice surprise!
Was given this car after my trusty Toyota died at 230K. Hated it at first: V6, clunky looking, not much style. But it has performed well past my expectations. Like others, I replaced an alternator, starter and fuel pump. (And tires!) But that's been all, and now it's just regular oil changes. Gas mileage not great, about 20 mpg but better on straight highway. I will miss this car when it's gone, and I won't be able to get another one now that Pontiac will be phased out.
Impressed!
I got this car when it has 125,000 miles. At 225,000, Its still chugging. I use it all the time to make 325 mile road trips home from the University. It Runs great at I can make aboout 350 miles on a single tank! My roomates nicknamed it "Old Faithful" For the money, This car is a true work horse. The ride is pretty quiet and smooth, Its sturdy enough not to be shifted by the draft of large trucks. Its supprisingly fuel efficient for the 3.8 litter engine. The interior is huge. Ive never had any major mechanical problems. Be a little weary of leaking hoses near sensors though. Its no "hot ride", its not "sexy", but it feels great to have a car dependable enough to get you where you are going.
Great Car
I rented one of these to go to a wedding and was immediatly sold on the style and ride. Got the chance to purchase one and have never looked back. Plan on purchasing a new one in 2003, only the next one will be the supercharged version.
Good Bang for your Buck
This has been a good car, however, I have had to replace the master cylinder and, egr valve, and the alternator (which is typical). The car does not get very good gas mileage due to its supercharged engine, which is why I am now trying to sell the vehicle. The 30 minute commute to school is killing me in gas. However, this is a great car, fun to drive, and is extremely fast.
best car I have ever owned!!!!
I bought my 94 bonne in 2000 and it had 85k on it,it now has 141k on it,it has been the best car I have ever owned.I have only replaced alternator, serpentine belt, battery, and drivers window motor.you know the normal wear and tear things.I love my car,but now it has some surface rust so its time to get rid of it,any one interested??????
lemon
bought my bonnyville from a private owner with only 40,000 miles. the interior & exterior are still beautiful but since my purchase I have replaced virtually EVERY part on the car. It is a true lemon. It now has 94,000 miles and just when I thought there was nothing left to replace, there is a crunching sound in the front end whenever I make a turn. NOW WHAT? I would sell it but they don't have much value anymore.
Like GM
Wife bought it used with 70K miles. Reliable car. Replaced master brake cylinder & fuel pump. Both seem to be a GM issue. Doesn't like to run smooth with less than 1/8 tank of gas. Great reminder to put gas in. Other than that - very low maintenance. Now 114,000 miles & still reliable - keep loaning it to family while their cars are being fixed. Body has no rust. Wife thinks it is really comfortable.
Super Sport Edition
Have owned the car and only thing had to be replaced is the regular things that would need to be replaced, the alternators, transmission and oil changes. Other than that nothing else, this has been the best car i've owned and was purchased in 94 with 59K miles and i'm the 2nd owner, if i have to put another motor in this vehicle i would, the value is still up on this car and is a wonderful racer, people confuse me with a SSEi because of its design and speed, have outran a Cadillac, mitusbishi galant, nissan 300ZX, honda accord. i have left a 2005 honda accord at a stop light, no specialties just a awesome car with an awesome owner who knows how to take car of it. replaced break booster.
What an incredible car!!!
My wife and I bought this car with 35,000 miles on it. It was our first "newer" car. My wife drove 90 miles a day round trip to work. 7 years later, it has 210,000 miles on and still runs incredibly well. The only thing we have replaced on the car is the alternator, that's it. Other than oil changes every 3,000 miles, we have really done nothing else. This car has taken us through the colorado mountains packed full and has survived the midwest winters in Iowa and Minnesota. My wife is going to finish school in 5 months and we are thinking about getting her a newer vehicle, but we have talked about driving this until it finally dies, problem is, I dont know when that will be, 300,000???
Great
Great performance, Nice pep, with great comfort, enjoy the power, good fuel economy, decent design.
SUPER CAR
35 MPG LOTS OF POWER GREAT IN SNOW ALMOST NO REPAIRS WITH 145,OOO MILES ON CAR RIDES & HANDLES GREAT ITS ALMOST SPOOKY HOW GOOD THIS CAR HAS BEEN
A car I'm Glad I owned
I bought this car new and now I have over 315,000 miles On it and it still looks and runs great. I think it has to do with how hard or easy you drive as well as certain up keep. I use castrol full syntec oil and change every 9,000 miles. Burn the same reg. gas Texaco. And put neww spark plugs in every 30,000 as well as change the air filter. Just drive normal and it will last.
LOVE MY BONNIE
Regular maintenance, and this car will keep going.. have had this car for 3 years now and havent spent much in repairs, The Bonnie has lots of Power too..oh and most comfortable seats ive sat in.
father & son
bought 4 years old with 62k and probably pd a little much (dealer for $8600. drove to work daily 100 miles round trip; very reliable ( of course replaced alternator, buy the lifetime warranty 1st time, not 2nd like me! 2 1/2 yrs. sold to my 16 yr old boy (yes, he got a deal!) has been very safe, reliable starter car. traction control and abs will always be a neccessity for him in ohio snow. cd/stereo replacement almost immediately blew speakers, drivers inside door panel failing, pass window cicking, cup holders broke, console door latch broke (used velcro; better than new!)......boys have bee rough on it. has been a good car
my review
I love this car so much. I got it from my Dad and in 2003 and it had 107K miles. I have had no problems with it and it always starts right up. all I do is get the oil changed regularly. I don't drive that much, it currently has 137K (in 2009).
Love MY Vivvie
At the start, there were items that had to be attended to, being that I am the 2nd owner and the 1st hadn't driven it in a while, but when done, it is the safest and fun car that I've ever had, handles like a smaller car and has features that are not even in newer cars. At 160K, I know that I can keep driving her until we both call it quits.
Great Overall Package
This is the best vehicle we have ever owned. Nearly 30 mpg on the highway, 24 mpg around town. In a full size car. We took a trip and got 26 mpg with a/c blowing the whole way. The performance is great. The 3.8V6 is GM finest six-cylinder enginge around today. I have seen this enging go 250,000 miles in many different cars. Its just getting broke in at 100,000. We will definetly by another one, when this one wears out. Probably in 2010.
Bonnie
Factory-installed alternator burned out, replacement did too; only when I upgraded to heavy-duty alternator did probs go away. No other engine probs with this Bonnie. The driver's side outside panel was loose when I purchased car and was ripped off by water on the first wash job--dealer replaced at no cost. Feel this is a solid car; even with bumps and scratches, it runs and runs. "Mom's Bomb" will not quit!
LOOK AT THIS!!!
My 1994 Bonneville currently has 273,000 miles on it and still running great! Had to rebuild the transmission at 218,000 and hasn't been the same since. The engine still doesn't use oil. Great car!
One of the best ever
My 93 Pontiac Bonneville has been the best car I've ever owned. When newer, 36 MPGs were possible when highway driving. Now with 203K, 22-24 is average. I've replaced evey major engine appendage (alternator, power steering, tensioner, etc.), but the engine itself is still going strong. A/C has been the most problematic. I've spent 1k over the years in A/C repairs, but a new factory compressor at 175K miles seemed to solve the problem. For an American car, the Bonneville is one of the best.
excellent car
Low maintenance affordable car. Most dependable car I have owned. 3800 engine with almost 200,000 miles with no major repairs.
GREAT CAR
I've been driving my moms old Bonnie since I crashed my truck and love this car. It had been sitting for about 7 months so I changed the plugs/wire and oil and it runs like new. This is the first non 4x4 I've ever driven abd I love good performance great handling and plenty of space
Bonnie' SSE
Out of the few cars I've driven I'm glad that this on was my first car of them all. Great handling, good gas mileage, and good pick up. I love it!
The Bonnie just won't die!
I bought my car with 142k on it, it's been a little over a year and I'm about to break the 150k mile barrier. I can only say good things about my beloved Bonnie; she's never failed me. This car is great; I give it my full recommendation. If you're looking for a good car that will last with you through thick and thin, then this is the car for you.
Not too Bad
Bought brand new. American cars just don't hold up well, we all know that. But I hate Hondas/Toyotas b/c of lack of individuality! My car needs a drivers side motor fixed, it broke down on me due to alternator failure (EMBARASSING) the speakers are blown, and one side works, the steering controls for the radio don't work, the car's frame makes creeks when you shut the heavy doors, the pass.dr lock doesn't work..but the body still looks alright! I have to say, 24K new. 10years later, worth 1K. SUCKS! But honestly, I expected it. American JUNK. But I still love it. My heyday was the 1970's when I drove LTD's and Continentals, a Caddy's.
Top Quality Transportation!
Now had this car for two weeks total, but have been in the Bonneville Club since 2005 and have seen all the ins an outs of these cars. This car is definitely an excellent reliable vehicle that is most certainly fun to drive and definitely turns a few heads. Excellent value.
Love this car!
My '93 has passed the 170,000 mark and is still going strong. It has had the usual maintenance, plus alternator, battery, etc, but nothing has been replaced twice and nothing out of the ordinary. This car drives great and has plenty of room for my family.
94 SE 106k
My daily driver. I just love it. This is our 4th bonny. The 3800 is GREAT! Lots of power and around 27mpg on the highway. That is great for a car this size. It is huge! Lots and lots of room. Had a few little things go wrong but nothing really out of the ordinary for a car with these miles. Master Cylinder, water pump, EGR valve.
love it....but hate it
Love the 3800 series v6 in this car... Very fast. Strong runner.... I just had the unfortunate of electric problems.... Went through 3 batteries in the 5 months I had it. New alternator, new starter, cylinoids were fine, and still drained battery and starter barley ever tried.... If starter work started every time, best motor in any production car at that price. Oh and did I mention my brakes went completely out 8 times in the 5 months I had it?
Solid car
Bought in 2001 with 85K miles, now around 160K miles, great look with the white SSE with gold rims, the coolest features from any car out there, heads up display (shines speed on windshield), rear shock leveling system, air compressor in trunk to fill up tires with, good stereo system with factor gain control, electronic compass, tons of gauges, 9 way power adjustable seats, sunroof, this car has it all, and dependable 3.8 liter that is fast and handles very well if put good tires, 30 mpg highway, about 20 mpg in town. Very satisfied owner, there are some electronic problems now developing so gauges don't always work but still drives fine.
