My mom bought this car brand new in July '94. It was pretty good for the first 3 years, then she began to experience problems after. The transmission conked out after 86,759 miles.

I have had nothing but problems with this car, most notably the head gasket, a/c and then the clutch all within six months. Then the brakes went, along with the heat system and the speedometer. I wish I would have went with the cavalier that was sitting right next to this car on the lot.

This car is cheap, fun to drive, and, in my experience, very reliable. The only problem that I've had is that the radio burned up and damaged the AC controls at around 90k miles. Other than that, I've done nothing but normal maintenance. This car is great.

After this car I swore not to ever own another American car again. At first, it was great, looked great, drove great, but problems really started around 40K mileage. A couple of factory recalls, which was really expected since it was its first year in the market. But now I have to get a new car, because at 80K, the engine is burning oil and I have to check the oil levels every week and add more to it. Compared to Japanese cars, this is a true junk and unless you have money to waste, don't buy it!
