This suv is built poorly
Since I have purchased this vehicle it has been in for repairs 12 times for numerous electrical problems as well as problems with the transmission, air conditioning, and rattles/squeeks. I filed a lemon law claim which was dismissed by Nissan and I am now in the process of suing them. It also gets horrible gas mileage for an suv of this size.I am extremely disappointed with this vehicle especially since I have owned many Nissan vehicles in the past with good results. I will never buy another Nissan again after seeing how they treat loyal customers that do have problems. I would urge anyone to think twice before purchasing this vehicle!
review
Gas Mileage is really, really bad for a smaller SUV.

Me? Rugged?
I am not the rugged type, but this car has let me feel like I'm a sporty, outdoorsy type. In actuality, I don't even own a bike, but I feel like everytime someone sees me driving it they're thinking, "Wow, I bet that girl knows how to have fun!"
My X
i love my X and would recommend it to anyone...
first SUV
The X is an Awesome SUV! I test drove a lot of other SUV's and the X just offers more bang for the buck. -Get the 4-wheel drive. As soon as you get it home you want to get it muddy. And 4x4 insures your ride home-not INTO the mud! -I bought the X with the stereo upgrade, but an in-dash DVD nav sys would be nice. I have a handheld and that is better for me anyway. (I can take it with me into the woods). -I like the engine configuration. It is mounted rotated to the left. This also allows easier maintenance for mechanical and electrical systems. The X is a very well thought out design and is truly driven by what's inside, the 24-year-olds that buy it.
2003 Nissan Xterra
Really fun suv to drive. Love the fosgate system. Looks really tough. Well built vehicle.
Nice car
This was my first SUV. I love the room that it provides and the sporty look is very attractive. I am pleased with it's reliability. I have never had to service the car other than the usual wear and tear. Excellent purchase!!
Gutless Gashog
This car is a piece. It gets horrible gas milage. For example I drove from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles and filled up 6 Times fully. My fiance Drove his pontiac gran prix the same distance and filled up twice. This car is also a GUTLESS WONDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You pull out any where with good distance and within seconds the car you pulled out in front of is on your tail thinking your an old person when really your a 19 year old driving a big ol' piece of junk. I will never buy another one of theese or recommend it to anyone. Sadly I would rather have any Jeep even though they were ranked the worst car ever built!!!!!!!!
'03 XTERRA
A good vehicle for the active person.
good for what it is
Everything they said about it was true. The gas millage is lackling and the ride is hard for 500 miles of highway, but man cannot live by gas millage alone. The Xterra does what I bought it to do. Take Scouts camping and get in rough areas with ease. I don't notice the whine of the suppercharger but you can feel the power when it is need and I am very happy with my choice
Sorry to see it go...
but after 10 months, I just cant live with the crappy mileage. I fill the tank (39 bucks) and I get about 275 miles out of it. And now, Nissan says that the 05's are even bigger, with even worse MPG. I'm sorry to see the last pure SUV for real people go this direction. If it were'nt for the gas suck, I'd keep it forever. Rides nice, looks great, great offroad, etc. Just decided to go the other way. Honda Element, here I come!
Engine failure
Crappy gas mileage. Super small. Had it for only 5 months before the engine died, while I was driving on the highway with my 2 small kids. Terrible and not safe.
