TURN THE HEADRESTS AROUND!! LOVE MY CAR!
I didn't notice the small pocket glove compartment for a month! I didn't want to wait til I could find a manual with cruise (a MUST HAVE for me) so I took the CVT and I hope I don't regret it. I've seen a few complaints about the headrest. I felt like I was leaning over so I removed the head rest and turned it around, viola! Much better than not having one (headrest). As for accelerating on a short ramp, PUT YOUR FOOT ON THE GAS firmly (slowly apply pressure) before you hit the ramp! Or, try putting it in low, firm push on the pedal and that'll do it (put it back in drive too!). I haven't had ANY problem with it but it IS a 4 cyl. You've got to .get a "feel" for the CVT (not really a big fan, I'd rather have a traditional tranny). Folks, this is a low price (plenty of deals) and 4 cyl with 109 hp engine so don't expect a Maxima! In my opinion, WAY better than the Fiesta and Mirage (ugh, awful). So far, no issues with the window issues I've read about - guess I'll leave a towel in the car. Smile every time I get in and out, which is a breeze !! I had a 2001 Corolla for a short while and felt like a Big Foot climbing out (I'm 5'8") of that car.

still happy buyer
June 2018 update. This car after 22,000 miles give or take, is still the best small car I have ever driven. Since I have been driving for 58 years, I have owned and driven many small cars, many, many, thousands of miles. This is the best. Drives like a feather, good ride and comfort, not noisy, great 40+ OA mpg's and no probs. yet. Does well on long trips, and shorter jaunts too. How can you not love it? Oh, by the way, it's enormous inside--esp. in the back seat. If buying, get the 15" (that's "fifteen inch") alloy wheels: lighter, less expensive to replace tires, better ride, and look good. All the Best. June 2017 update: I grant that mileage driven on this car (purchased in 2014) is still quite low and that I am a conservative driver, but this car continues to impress. I am starting to resent the reviews of this vehicle in the leading consumer magazine to which I subscribe. They rate this car lower car than the Honda Fit and even the Chevy Sonic (!) but then say that the Fit is "unfit" for long trips and are below average in the "ride/noise" category. Also the Fit's rated reliability is lower than the Note's. As for the Sonic: the back seat is cramped, and the trunk with the seat backs put up, is like a shoebox; mpg's are considerably worse than the Note's and the Sonic's steering is described as "darty". So, for these and other reasons, the Note should be rated higher than the Fit and the Soncic--not lower! Add that steering is a joy, comfort is good, back seat is enormous, and great for trips because of, in part, relatively good "ride/noise". Another point: sales figures of Nissan Versa's (sedans and Notes) FAR outstrip the Fit and the Sonic (ref. www.subcompactculture.com blog). So where does CR come up with their opinions? (My take is that they don't much care for Nissans generally.) Original review: Purchased this SV Note in May 2014 and have over 5,000 miles on it. Went to Mobil 1 low friction oil (0W30) at 3500 miles and increased already excellent mileage by at least 1 mpg, so recommend. Car drives great, handles like a dream and is--for class--quiet from road and engine noise, and has a nice ride. Pump to pump mileage checks show consistently over 40 mpg in warm weather and this includes a wide variety of conditions (including hilly and mountainous) with usually two people aboard. Car looks good to my eye with upright stance (as compared to the Fit, for example.) So, looks good, rides and handles great with outstanding mileage and is enormous inside. Recommend. June 2016 addition to original review: Like this car more than ever. Great room inside, quiet and comfortable for class. Very good for long trips on highways as well as local driving. Excellent ingress and egress (wife and I are in 70's.) MPG's are outstanding. Very mixed driving and 40+ mpg's easily attainable in warm months. (We live in northeast). High/low range: 43 -- 36 depending on time of season. (Petroleum companies change their formulations in the cold months/areas of country so, partially as a result, cold weather driving drives mpg's down--a little known fact perhaps.) We have come to like the CVT; would not likely return to a conventional automatic tranny in any future car. Would buy this car again. Tips: reco the 15" (not 16") alloy wheels. There are a number of good reasons for this which won't go into here (except to say, e.g. looks, comfort, strength, mileage, cost, and so forth. Also recommend low friction oil such as Mobil l 0W30. My mpg's improved at least by 1 with this oil. Finally, please note that this car is now rated highest in category for reliability by CR. A winner! Dec. 2017 update: Not much to say differently from previous reviews and updates. Car still impresses. Mileage now c. 20,300. Reliability is still very good; ride and noise factors very good; car handles so beautifully it is a snap to toot around on secondary roads and in towns. But, as previously mentioned, a big plus of this car over others in it's class is that it is good on longer trips. In a word, very good on the highways over a length of time. I drove my son's 2007 Honda Fit Sport around recently (secondary and highway roads) and it is a fine little car esp. if you drive in a very spirited fashion. I confess, being older, to driving very conservatively, but not when I was younger so I can appreciate a snappy small car. But I would give the Versa NOTE a noticeable comfort edge esp. on highways and say that it is ideal for older folks--also because ingress and egress are outstanding. Perhaps the newer Fit is different. Anyway, this is the best small car I have ever driven, and I have driven small cars (owned 6, and rented many) for c. 57 years. I think I know something about small cars!. Highly recommend the NOTE.

Surprisingly good
I was looking for an economical hatchback to perform chores around town--transporting the dog, carrying bulky items from Home Depot, etc. My first thought was the Honda Fit, but only the top trim level offered the option of in-dash navigation, and it came with leather upholstery, heated seats and other features that I didn't care about. Then I read a comparison article which included the Versa Note and checked it out. Less expensive than the Fit and navigation was available on a lower level trim, the SR. After test driving and shopping several Nissan dealerships, I found just the car I wanted. I've only got 500 miles on it, but I am very pleased so far. I like the looks of this car. The SR comes with sportier alloy wheels, turn signals on the exterior mirrors, a roof spoiler and fog lights. The upright stance means there is a ton of headroom, even for a 6 foot plus person like me. Its tiny engine seems spunky enough to me, as I generally accelerate quickly enough from stoplights. Noise in the cabin is moderate--probably normal for this class of cars. It is quite roomy inside--particularly legroom in the backseat. And I was pleasantly surprised by some of the features , such as automatic door locking, auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink, a rear center armrest, and trip computer in the instrument panel. The optional navigation screen is smaller than in most cars, but the system works fine and even offers a "birds-eye view". Aspects of the car that are less than satisfying are: 1. no center armrest for the front passenger 2. the door armrests are uncomfortable hard plastic 3. the rear headrests are positioned at a strange and uncomfortable angle 4. the driver's seat is lumpy and would not be comfortable for long-range driving (which I don't intend for this car anyway) 5. strangely, there is no temperature gauge in the instrument cluster for the SR trim only

Note-Worthy update
This is an update on my previous review. After 26,190 miles, the Nissan Versa Note keeps on going with no complaints. The front seat are comfortable for my 5' 10" medium frame, especially when considering that some of my trips are 12 hours at a stretch. The back seats and leg room are huge. The A/c and heater work fine for the Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado environments. My driving characteristics are moderate, but I like driving to the legal limit, and taking it faster on mountain roads as the standard tires grip well, and the brakes are excellent in spite of deer and elk seem to have a death wish by Nissan Note proxy. It handles well in light snow and wet weather. The wipers are very good. While the power is certainly not its strong suit, it still makes it up Vail or Wolf Creek Pass in remarkable form, especially considering its small engine. The night driving lights are very adequate. I find the car quiet; as quiet as our Toyota Avalon [wife tends to disagree on the Note is not as comfortable, but then we are talking about a high end Toyota], which is again surprising when considering that the Note is essentially an entry level car. It was unfortunately so quiet, especially with an absence of wind noise, that I got caught in west Texas doing 78 in a 65 mile zone. Visibility is very good. A odd finding is that my gas mileage is amazing, particularly in the mountains of northern New Mexico and Colorado, my August and September monthly averages being 45.1 mpg by computer and calculations. This is also noteworthy when you consider that we were carrying a full load during our trips. In Texas, my monthly average is lower at 38.1 mpg, presumably due to the higher density of air [1,000 ft elevation vs. 8,400 ft]. We have had no service, mechanical, or electrical problems, just oil changes and tire rotation every 5,000 miles, and the people at Bates Nissan in Killeen, Tx have been most courteous and prompt in their servicing of this vehicle. Even the standard radio on the SV version is fairly good. The CVT transmission takes a little getting use to, but using both the "power" button on the transmission shifter and your right foot permitted us to pass some slow moving vehicles on mountain roads where forward visibility was limited. One more thing; It feels like you are driving a much bigger car than it is Cons: We wish that the car came with an outside temperature indicator, and the horn seems a bit tinny. Also, on some cold mountain mornings, the dashboard indicated "low tire pressure" but did not indicate which tire it was. There was never a problem once the outside temperature warmed up, but we spent needless time checking to see if we picked up a nail in any of the tires. Also, our previous car had a in-dash compass, which was handy when driving on mountain dirt roads, and hoping that you were going in the right direction. While we found the car essentially basic versus other more expensive "loaded" vehicles, it was user friendly in its relative simplicity. While I could afford a much more expensive vehicle, its excellent gas mileage and low maintenance cost of the Nissan Note, plus the above comments, why spend more on a vehicle that depreciates the instant you take it off the lot when this car seems to satisfy the needs for getting where you want to go in economical and quiet safety. If you need a vehicle to enhance your ego, or need the latest tech stuff, or air-conditioned/heated seats, or a car that tears up concrete, then don't get this car.

The Note sings
The Note is an interesting piece in a sea of sameness. Even with only 600 miles on the clock, I've been averaging about 35 miles combined highway and city. I have the SV with the CVT and am very happy with it. It seems to gave enough scoot, but with only 600 miles on the clock, I'm not doing any hard driving yet. The Note is a car where reading the owners manual is a definite plus, though I found a few features on my own. I'll list them in the next section. It's a roomy, reasonably quiet, though the bluetooth and media volume buttons are not intuitive. The up and down button is the phone, while the button going across is the volume control.
Respectable, Friendly, Fun Car, Great Value
It took me a while to warm up to my 2015 Nissan Versa Note SV Hatchback but after one year it feels like the CVT has broken in and adapted to my desires/driving style, and I am quite pleased with my new friend. It's not a status vehicle (not my gig), or a super power car (not my gig) - rather, it's a secret beauty delivering a smooth ride, great fuel economy, total cuteness that brings a smile every time I approach it, and strong value. My only complaints are the heating/cooling system which presents a level of frustration in colder months in Minnesota. It seems slow to warm and engages the AC feature for defrosting, therein diminishing fuel economy. Also there is opportunity for design improvement regarding water flow/drip management on door frames and hatchback during rain/snow.

Sub-compact that thinks it's a Corolla!
I got this the other week by of all places a Hertz Sales center. Had approx. 30,000 miles and I got it for approx. $9,700! Dealers wanted thousands more for higher mileage ones! - Anyway, it handles like a dream. Needs only a light touch. Accelerates fine in city and on highway. - I love the 'small touches' such as many well-placed cup and bottle holders. A glove compartment that is huge and could hold a woman's pocketbook and then some. Huge. Then there is a mini-glove compartment. Even extenders for the small visors. Bluetooth for phone and usb for playing music or podcasts from your phone to radio. Auto locks doors as you start driving and unlocks your door and puts on interior light when you shut off engine. You can even get a 'fake floor' for the cargo area so that you could hide a full-size briefcase or laptop. Great mileage so far: approx. 35mpg with mix of city & highway and with A/C on half-time. Huge, roomy interior. Co-workers cannot believe it's interior. No! I don't work for them. - BTW, Hertz experience was best I have ever had when buying a car.

It's not a car--it's a friend.
Fun to look at, fun to drive: it's like having a mechanical puppy. Simple, dependable, works! Update: after 13,000 miles, I still love it. Proves its worth everyday. A year later it's still a good friend. Starts, runs, stops...what more could you want?

Nice Individuals Start Saving At Nissan
Went from big cars (SUVs, Vans) to a subcompact. Thought it would be like being born again to get out (in) but was pleasantly surprised. The interior is as roomy as a normal fullsize car. I am tall but have lots of headroom in the Nissan. I also looked at other subcompact competitors: Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent, Chevy Spark, and Mitsubishi Mirage, and the Nissan Versa was the roomiest. I sat in the back seat and my knees had a good 2-3 inches between me and the front seat with the front seat set at the farthest back position. Another pleasant surprise was I get better in city and highway mpg than advertised. I like the hatchback because it opens like vans or SUVs for storing packages and groceries. Also, the cargo area is quite roomy for a subcompact but if you need additional room, the back seats fold forward whereas the seats are fixed in the other subcompacts I looked at. Finally, I like that you have to pull a release similar to the hood release to open the fuel door. This is a nice feature to protect against syphoning by thieves. It is not a luxury vehicle but it is fun to drive with enough pickup for entering highways, good mileage for gas savings, roomy enough for 4 adults, and a fairly quiet engine. The best thing is, it has a tight turning radius and can parallel park in small spaces (doesn't take much room in the garage either). UPDATE: I have owned this car for 13 months now and everything I stated above is still true but I would add a couple of observations. I notice how much louder the engine noise is than in our other car but it is not horrible. I also notice how much more I feel bumps in the road than our other car but this is true with any small car. And finally I would note that I had to replace the third brake light (rear window light) already but because Nissan makes it one piece, instead of a $3 bulb, I had to buy the $92 complete light assembly. However, it was easy to install and this is the only repair in a year. I am still enjoying this car. UPDATE: After owning this car for 2 1/2 years, it is still purring like a kitten. I did have to purchase two front tires this year which were down to the tread bar. However, because of the small tire size on these, it was very inexpensive. The only other thing I have noticed is that the brightness of the radio/clock readout has dimmed but it is still readable. UPDATE: I have now owned this car 6 years and the engine is still purring like the day I got it. The display on the radio/time however had dimmed so much it is almost unreadable until nighttime. I change the oil regularly and have replaced a couple of tires but otherwise the maintenance has been easy and it still gets great gas mileage!

Love it except
I love my car perfect for a small ,5/1 , person like me. My 5/7 husband has some issues. My only issues is the condensation on my windshield. Cant get it clear unless I run the ac which eats up the fuel!! Other then that it's great. What I'd expect. I had an jeep Cherokee which I did love but the gas was horrible. This car is awesome I love not sticking with the norm and I've made mine my own. I will by another. This is actually my sec one. Was in an accident in my other. I was struck from Behind by a mini van and was totaled but I was never hurt, this car was great. Like I said I'll get another. Love it. Only other issue we had to replace the battery already.

61,000 Transmission had to be replaced
Not a bad little car except for the CVT transmission. Transmission was replaced at 61,000 miles lucky we had an extended warranty. My wife drove the car 2 days than the transmission quit again. It is currently at the Dealer now awaiting repair. I no longer trust the car and would not buy another Nissan product with the CVT transmission.

A Note-Worthy Surprise
Having had numerous vehicles over the years, and preferring manual shift for a more engaged driving experience, I decided to drive the CVT Note to see how uninspiring it was, and was wrong. This well designed, quiet vehicle keeps up with traffic, is very economical, and is a pretty decent hauler. After 7,700 miles, my city/country average is 35.5, and average highway is 38.8, with best long highway trip being 43.3 at 70mph with A/C. The seats are comfortable, and the back seat was able to accommodate a 6'8" male who was stunned at the backseat room. I had no problem climbing long inclines in Colorado. Certainly one of the surprising cars that has gotten little attention.
V-Note Nation
This little car does it all! It is a comfortable ride, in the front as well as the rear seats. It handles extremely well in wet conditions. It does pretty good in the snow too (as good as a front wheel car could do). I have 57,000 miles on her so far. I have the S-Plus model. My only real complaint would be the slow acceleration, its quite difficult to merge onto roads that have short entrance ramps, this also makes it difficult to quickly navigate from dangerous situations. My other complaint would be the quality of interior door materials.. one of my window crank handles has already fallen off and is not covered by the warranty. Other than what I've already said, I am completely in love with my car.

Note worthy Versa SV
The Versa Note is a reliable, economical compact car. It's not going to win races or impress anyone with fine looks. It is what it is fairly priced car that's good on gas and surprisingly comfortable for this small exterior and roomy interior hatchback.

Wondeful Gas Saver!
We absolutely love this little car. Fuel economy is excellent. It has great options for the price range. And it has a good warranty for a vehicle in this price range as well. Very versatile car with lots of space. We test drove a fiesta and a sonic and the versa was the biggest of the smallies!

The Price is Right
It was sitting at a dealership over a year and I watched the price drop from 15k to 11k. I decided to move on an odometer that only had 400 miles on it. 2 months and 3k miles later nothing has broken yet. The breaks are stiff, the turning is stiff, the suspension is stiff... no give in anything. I can live with all of that considering the seats are comfy and the next car with mileage that low was an extra 5k. I average 36 mpg where over half is city driving so quite happy with that. My biggest pet peeve is the front window, it creaks over every bump when the temp drops below 40 and when I wake up for work the condensation on the window is as much on the inside as the outside. I think the contraction of temp on the window seal is letting it get on the front window. All the other windows are normal. When the temp is above 40 it is not an issue. Honestly my only long term worry is the CVT transmission, it is an unknown in the reliability department.

Review, but non-sale
Here is my review, while unfortunately my sale did not go through due to my financing. I use my auto for puttering around town, to work, to store, etc. I really liked this one...I went to 2 different dealers. I have a 2013 Toyota Yaris, which I am very happy with. I was shopping due to my desire to have more details on the dash than I presently have. I was specifically seeking a light or reminder on the dash to remind me to turn off the lights, or headlights. I tested the 2015 Versa SR, the 2017 Versa Note Sr & SL. Both gave me good acceleration compared to the Yaris. The new technology has the USB placement in a more ideal place, not hidden away or hard to reach. The car has 4 cup holders. The seating was fine, I don't ride in long trips often with exterior room. Overall, I would get this car, maybe not new but used. I do not feel vehicles need to be 20K dollars. That's all.

Have had major problem
I have had problem with the radio not working from day one but the dealership did fix the problem. Took the Versa in for the first oil change and was told both front axle nuts were unwinding, the dealership fix the situation. Took the Versa on a long distant trip the car handle well but the transmission is slipping. Got to make a third repair appointment. I'm starting to feel this call was put together by drunken New Years Eve employees at Nissan. Questioning my choice of cars.

BEWARE OF CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES!!!
I bought a brand new 2015 Nissan Versa Note SV in 2015 and this year (2020) I had to replace the transmission. And since I was a month over my 5yr Powertrain warranty Nissan refused to help with the repairs. 5,000$ later and now my car has a new transmission (my car only had 80,000km on it). Apparently it’s a very common issue for the versas et sentras from 2012-2017. I would recomend trading in your car before the CVT transmission gives out! Nissan was only giving me 2,500$ for my car if I traded it in with the broken transmission...

Great Gas Milage
I purchased a 2015 Versa Note SR in November 2014 and it has been a good little car. If you are expecting all the bells and whistles along with plushness then this car is not for you. I have owned several Nissan's in the past and have been very pleased with the overall quality and when it came time the Versa fit the bill. I found this car at a very good price and since it is the SR it feels a little more sporty than the other models. My main concern was fuel economy since I have quite a drive to work. This car delivers! I don't fill up nearly as often as I used to! I like my little car as I have seen others don't care as much for it. It fits 4 adults comfortably with lots of luggage. If you are looking for something with lots of power then I would look else where it is slightly sluggish but I am not in a hurry very often. If your expecting a lot out of an entry level car under 20,000.00 then good luck in your fair tale world. I was expecting what I bought and I am very happy with it. I was wanting a low price, great gas mileage, and it happens to look sporty and cute. Great buy!

perfect for munchkins and others
If you want good transportation this is a fine vehicle to buy. The handling is great and in-city mileage has been amazing. Hopefully the mileage will be good during the colder months. The vehicle handles nicely and is fun to drive. No, it isn't a race car but so what. It does a very nice job going from point A to point B. Some smallish points - headlights could be better as could the defroster and yes, the little engine takes a minute to warm up so my quick ride to work in the winter is cold. Took it out for a road trip to Maine and it did very well, holding the road and keeping up with traffic nicely.

My gray little dumb car i love it !!!!!!
I bought this car because of the price and the fact it only had 137 miles with remaining warranty. It is a base model which means it has no power windows or door locks. Lots of people will give you hell about this. I will say I miss the auto door locks the most. I ill get use to it since I drove a Subaru brat for 13 years without the same things. So far I am loving my new car. But going with out one for three years and having to stay with in a budget I think I did very well for my self. One year later and I still really love my gray little dumb car it averages 40 miles highway and 35 city . I drive it every where. The heater and air condition is fantastic. The only thing I hae done is the recommended oil changes and tire rotation. Still really like it and would do it all over again. I hope I feel the same way next year.

I love this spunky little car!
I have been driving my Versa Note for 8 months now and I still ADORE it! I had been driving larger vehicles prior to purchasing this "compact car" and I can't say enough about how great the gas mileage is! Going from an average of 23 MPG in my Nissan Rogue to now an average of 38 MPG has been AMAZING! Another thing I love about this car is how deceptively spacious the interior is. I can honestly say that it feels just as roomy sitting in the Versa Note as it did in the Rogue, with the only real loss being in trunk space. I will say that the acceleration, or lack there of, is a bit of a disappointment. Otherwise I really can't say that I have any complaints. I still get excited when I walk up to it and get in. It's just a fun little car that has spunk to match my personality!

not too shabby, pros and cons
as most people here, i was looking for a decent gas shipper. although im not pleased i had to buy the SV ( 2 levels up from base)to get power windows, still its a nice lil car. havent gotten that advertised 40 mpg yet, i average about 34. riding as a passenger i feel a bit uncomfortable as far as armrests since i end up sharing the drivers. but it does have better rear passenger legroom than most comparable, esp the COTY VWGolf which is $8k more. side window visors/guards a must as the rain water will drip in.be leary of servicing since Nissan chokes you into the CVT only being done at dealership.be smart and budget minded when buying as the normal nickle and dime stuff will pinch the wallet
Great warrior car with outstanding MPG
I got this car in May 2015 with only 2500 miles on it, now after 11 months and 13,000 more miles it is running great, the CVT has given or I get used to it but now it goes more on my rhythm. The MPG 40 - 43 average mainly in 55 highway. Interior room is great for 4 person and even 5 is acceptable (3 adults and 2 kids on their car seat) cargo area is OK and if you need to get something bulky from Walmart, Lowe's or Home depot you very easily can put down the rear seats and the space is comparable to a small SUV (I have carried 2 mid-size baggage, a stroller and my son's bike). Handling is really firm and enjoyable, we have a lot of rain and windy days in this area and even driving to 70 you feel the control of vehicle, it goes very good on snow as well. I cannot comply, maybe the plastics and interior materials are not the best quality but they have resisted the attacks of my two children very firmly. When I took it to the dealer for service is just great to only pay $35 and not $50 like in other cars/brands. Controls on steering wheel are easy and handy. This is a really good car, if you are looking for a money saver but tough car to resist your hard driving do not doubt as the Versa Note is your best call. Pros: MPG, maintenance cost, road noise and driving Cons: The only thing specially on those very cold days in January when is 20 or lower is that you will need about 5-10 minutes to warm it up

This car is easily capable of getting over 40 miles per gallon on the freeway and over 32 combined! If you don't do jackrabbit starts and don't speed on the freeway (and drive like a grandma), 38 miles per gallon combined was regularly attained. It is amazingly spacious for a small car like that. I think the worst thing on the exterior is that the paint is a bit thin compared to, saying a GM or something. The worst thing on the interior is that the radio display gets hot and makes it hard to see the information. The radio still works though. Seats are comfortable (even as a taller person, and the stupid way that the driver seat adjusts, it is still bearable. Vision is good and it's pretty easy to park because it's smaller. The key to my successful ownership is that I changed the transmission fluid at 60,000 miles and maintained the thing by doing regular maintenance items on a regular basis. 5,000 miles for an oil change, maximum! I also kept the air filter clean, watched the air pressure in the tires and kept the car clean by washing and waxing it.

Uncomfortable thing
I hate this vehicle! It’s the most uncomfortable car I’ve ever owned. The noisiest, too. A/C goes down every time you stop. In Florida, that’s not good. It has constant wind noise, rattling noises everywhere. It is rough especially when turning. I will never buy another Nissan.

Great economically but needs timely maintenance
The person I sold this car to is a friend. At 128,000 miles, this car is still on the road and still getting 35-38 MPG with a lot of short trips from home to school, etc. The new owner is an aspiring mechanic after a career change after immigrating into United States. He has done the second transmission fluid drain and fill at 55,000 miles since the last one (Yes always do it early and use OEM fluid!). if you maintain this car, it continues to run relatively inexpensively. Unfortunately, Nissan's target demographic is a group of people who don't take care of their cars at the same level as needed. if somebody buys a BMW, they have the money to have it in the shop all the time. Nissan isn't as lucky. Gets great gas mileage and holds a lot of stuff. Amazingly comfortable for tall passengers in the back. Gets 27 MPG in hilly city driving, 38 MPG combined when it's 75% freeway driving. This is not a race car, this is not a jackrabbit start car, this is not a car that's going to go 0 to 60 in 8 seconds. If you are a gas-to-brake-to-gas driver, get a different car. This could be a great vehicle, but you have to be a patient and responsible driver who is wise to good habits. Now, here's the catch... •Oil changes at a maximum of 5,000 miles even with synthetic. •Transmission fluid changes at or under 60,000 miles. (While flushes are risky, if you are doing it at a maximum of 60,000 miles, that might be more tolerable (if you're at 90,000 miles, do a drain and fill or consult with an independent Nissan transmission specialist before making a decision). I have seen videos where they have dropped the transmission pan and there is a lot of debris from the CVT transmission. That might be a recommended service that will give you additional life.) •Use TopTier gasoline If you are buying this used, look for service records! If you're not seeing oil changes at 5,000 miles or 6 months-conventional oil/1 year-synthetic (whichever comes first), pass on this car (ask for receipts if they said that they were doing the oil changes at home, people will sometimes say anything to rip you off). Nissans need more maintenance because they aren't as durable as say a Toyota. Also, check for a transmission fluid service. Not just a plain transmission service, it must be a transmission FLUID exchange or flush. These transmissions in this and other years were the subject of a class action lawsuit. Go in educated! A new transmission is $5k, don't lose money!!! An owner who's maintained it well will always get better performance and longevity out of this transmission than people who drive like it's NASCAR and might remember to put oil in it every 10,000 miles. Other than some initial build quality issues, like my hood wouldn't always open when I first bought the car, the only real long-term issue was the radio. The radio's display, an orange backlit thing, would fade in warm weather or with direct sunlight on the dash. The radio did not stop functioning. The paint is a bit thin on this car too. So washing it properly and waxing it is something I would highly, highly recommend. Expect transmission replacement to run about $5,000 in 2020. Whenever you're reading this, inflation has surely changed this price. There is no way to rebuild this transmission. Buy your transmission from Nissan or risk losing every dime you've put into it.

It's a subpar car and Nissan is a total nightmare
After you get done with the "it's a new car" feeling... you quickly come to realize why this is was the cheapest car you could find. The windshield popped for absolutely no reason and the dealer is too cheap to replace it and Nissan's Customer Complaints won't do anything about that, there was a serious safety recall half a year ago and the dealership didn't even bother to tell you about it which is probably illegal and after consulting mechanics you find that the CVT transmission requires more expensive maintenance and shop time than you thought was possible

Ooo
I've owned 3 Nissans. 2 we've still got. Great vehicles. However the Versa has been one of the worst driing cars. It's laborious to drive long distance (a good in town car). In the rain, storms and even just during by large trucks it's a task to keep it in the road lanes, especially after 8-10 hours of driving or thru a 3 hour storm of heavy rain. And it seems every time I rent a car I get one....

Most good; some meh
Good handling. Sticks to the road & tight (electric) steering. Enough zip for me. Lots of lateral room & high ceiling. Mine is a stripped down S version with a stick (less to go wrong with it). Everything is cheap as it's a cheap car, especially seats. There's a rattle in the dash when it's cold. Really could use (and it can pull) a 6th gear (4k rpm @ 85mph!). But, no regrets.

Great Commuter Car
Second one we've had; our daughter was rear-ended in first one and while the car was totaled, she didn't have a scratch. Great for around town/commuting. Went in to buy a base version and this one was loaded with everything and had been used as a loaner vehicle for the service dept and they practically gave it to us. I considered it a disposable car, but love it and drive it more than our big SUV and Mustang. A bit noisy with just adequate acceleration, it fits anywhere you want to park it and is pretty nimble sneaking thru narrow & tight spots. And it's so small, there's plenty of room in garage to walk around it. We haul old ladies to church in the back seats; amazing room and super easy to get in and out of the car; they love it (maybe because of the spoiler and the looks). Smartest car purchase we have ever made.

Good car with inexpensive price tag but..
This car has it all what I look for. Stick shift, economical fuel, roll up windows as I dislike cars with lots of electronic options However, the front seats are not comfortable due to how the headrest is aligned. I don't dare to remove it fearing if I ran to an accident I would have no protection to my neck head area. It's really uncomfortable. The stereo system is not good either. Considering to have a custom made one .

Where's all gauges?
Car looks great, drives great, roomy. Only had this car one day and I thought it might be overheating, guess what? No temperature gauge. Started looking for other usual gauges like oil and battery, guess what? That's a no too. Didn't think to turn off headlights, guess what? they don't turn themselves off. I'm a bit disappointed in my purchase, I didn't even think to check for gauges, I thought all cars came with them and lights that turn off when engine not on. Looking at the car amongst others in a large parking lot I was also surprised to see that my new car was the only one I could see that didn't have fog lights, there's a place for them but it's covered. Like I said I'm a bit disappointed this car. I hope at least it has an idiot light.

I love my blue moon !
I found my car of choice while renting cars for road trips (owned a much loved 03 Maxima) after I wrecked my car and bought several cars (with cash) that wouldn't do. Finally decided to get a car payment (ugh) and bought the cute note. Bought it 3 years old with 22k miles and have no regrets. It's not a race car folks, and I do just fine on the highway and back roads. Love the zippy handling and i thinks it's a fun little car to drive. Definitely not the Maxima but it's not a big car or a sports car. I plan on driving it to the grave (I'm 60).

Great car no bells and whistles that break.
To start this review off, I have the base model. Roll up windows, and no technology sensors. This means nothing breaks down. Got about 110,000 miles and got this car 3 years ago for 7,000 and now in 2021 its 8,000 to get one. I was thinking about getting rid of this for a Honda civic, with sensors and bells and whistles. Then I read the reviews about how all the new tech heavy cars break down and I am keeping this baby. No it does not have fast pickup speed. No it does not have seats meant for long drives. Yes the interior is basic looking and cheap black plastic. No it does not have fast pickup speed. No it does not have good safety ratings. What it does have. Average MPG 36 miles to the gallon. No major problems with added technology. Since it has none to speak off.

Great gas saver, bad everything else.
I own a 2015 Versa Note and I’ve had nothing but trouble with this car. The battery died at 40k miles, I have to replace all the suspension bushings at 60k. The suspension on the vehicle is very stiff. The amount of horsepower/torque is the equivalent of a 80’s Honda CRX, but in a car twice it’s size and almost thirty years newer. It drops in speed with the pedal to the floor up a slight incline.

Very dangerous car
If you have any possibility of driving this on an interstate don't buy it. The cvt transmission along with its under powered motor is death on wheels. With one passenger I took this as a rental for a week in Denver and almost got rear ended and driven off the road by a semi. It simply does not have enough power to accelerate out of dangerous situations.

spent over 6000 after 3 years of having the car
transmission went out at 80000 miles and after that things starts to die, the engines are hard to work on yourself to where you have to take in to the mechanic instead of being able to fix a quick simple thing yourself. In 2018 i spent over $6,000 to fix my car, the car is only worth 13,000

No malfunction lights...but cannot pass emission
I have just returned from the Nissan Dealership to diagnose a failed emissions. My o2 sensor is not reading as ready and there is not apparent reason for this. The process to get it review/repaired and passed is beginning to not be worth the cost. I love this car, but I was advised that this model has some insane drive cycle requirements. Getting it passed and THEN getting it registered is beginning to not be worth the value of the vehicle. It was good for the short while I had the vehicle.

Starter car
I've had this car for 5 years. Had to already get a new transmission 2 years ago, had so much maintenance and repairs worked on it, to where it added up to 7,000$ more than it was worth just on repairs within 5 years of owning it. Luckily the Transmission was under warranty. Good starter car though, Slow and hesitant acceleration, especially on the high way.

Nissan Versa note 2015 CTV transmission
If I could rate it 00000 starts I would ,worse car I have ever had from day one when I pulled it from showroom brand new. The airbag signs turned on, The transmission broke @62 k,they put another transmission saying it’s new come to know it was refurbished and broke down @74 k(didn’t even get to point of changing transmission oil) Now the dealership wants to charge $5000 for another refurbished transmission,I should have gone with Ford I would have been better off ,which I never liked . Rip offs won’t even acknowledge that there transmission sucks can’t even last 75k

Top Choice
It's been 3 years now. I have no complaints. All I do is routine maintenance by the dealer. I realize using premium fuel solves the complaint of the Versa Note not having enough freeway pep for passing or pulling out. I researched whether it had a timing belt or chain. It has a chain. Since I'm over sixty I thought twice about buying a stick shift (always my preference) but you never know when I'll have an injury. With the CVT I need only 1 foot to drive. The space is generous, the gas mileage is impressive (Avg 33 combined city/hwy). I am happy with my purchase (Certified Pre-Owned). I love the back-lit controls and the logical location of the controls. The one little thing I do miss is the access handle above the drivers door. It's my mini-SUV. I would recommend it to anyone.

Too basic a vehicle
I have a Nissan Versa Note as a rental car until my auto is repaired. Coming from a SUV to this is an eye opener. This red Versa Note is cute. The engine is pretty peppy, with one person in the car. The radio is fine as is the A/C. The drivers seat is also comfortable. I don't feel safe in this car. It's very small and has a very thin structure. Backing up is especially difficult. I'm use to a backup camera , but the versa is difficult to gage what's in back or the rear sides of you. Did I mention it has roll up windows. Makes me laugh. Haven't seen roll up windows for over forty years. The windows don't concern me either. This is a case of spending a little more money for a Safer car.

Good little car with some big flaws!
The versa note I had was a good little car. However, it had some very obnoxious flaws that made me just not enjoy driving it. Being that it is one of nissans cheapest cars, (although with all of the features I had, I could have bought an altima...) it is made of very cheap materials. After just a year of having the car, any bump and you would hear all the plastics on the interior rattle and shake. It got to the point where the whole car felt like it was shaking apart. Another issue I had with it is, whenever it would rain outside, the back windows would steam up, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I could run the A/C, which would tank the gas mileage and what little power the car had. Or I would just lose all visibility out of the car. While the car got ok mileage (do not believe what the cars computer tells you, it is usually about 6 mpg less then what it shows), it just had no power, so if you had to go up hills you would lose all your mileage.

Great car. Little cramp for room 4 driver.
Gas mileage hwy 39. Around town 30. No major repair in 7 years. Driver seat cramped but other seating is very good. Back is very comfortable, easy in-out. Most cost-effective car I ever owned. Reliable transportation without bells and whistles. The downside; noisy engine and cheap plastic interior. It doesn't handle as well as my Caddy but it didn't cost as much, either.

FUN little car
This a great car that doesn't cost much. When I was looking for an inexpensive car payment this little car did the trick. It looks really small but the inside is really roomy and the backseat can fit an adult over 6ft tall very comfortably. The cargo area is great and with the seats down you can really haul things in this hatchback including furniture! Visibility is great with the large windshield and back window. NO complaints other than its fairly basic inside but it sure does the trick for an inexpensive vehicle. When i first test drove it I thought this is a fun little car!
