Decent starter car

Having mostly driven six cylinder cars, a four cylinder like Sentra with a small engine feels sluggish at pickup, but well this car is for my college starting son, so perfect. Should also be good on fuel economy. Would have liked better if seats were power and the rear view mirror had auto-darkening feature. My car came with one set of ignition keys, so will need to get another made at a cost of up to $250/-. Like the USB, cell-phone connectivity, voice command, door push button entry, etc.

Both were lemons. They are made in mexico now, and not Japan or the U.S. Just got a class action letter in the mail because of their transmission problems. So disappointed, because I had Sentra s in the past that were great.

Its getting the job done

Its an economy car so I never put high expectations on it. Has no get up for people looking for speed. On days I would have a lead foot, it would cause a burning smell. The transmission slipped twice at 30k miles. Stopped at a red light, went to accelerate on green and went nowhere. I broke, gave it a second, accelerated and it was fine after that. I'm almost at 52k and it hasn't happened again. Now I am experiencing some scratchy, pitchy noise that happens more when the A/C is on. It lessens when I turn it off but will still do it from time to time when the car is idle. My mpg is 27.5..its cool for my amount of travel. I love the interior..charcoal..love the console, steering wheel controls, the handling of the car is nice..I had a 99 Toyota camry and it was wonky. Hated it. The. SV is doing ok right now..but with all the stuff I've read about the cvt and the law suits from people whose Transmission blew at 50k, 60k some even 20k miles, and the fact that my transmission slipped twice which worries me for the future, I urge shoppers to look at other Nissans or away from CVT altogether.

I’ve had my 2015 Nissan Sentra SR for almost 3 years and absolutely love it! I bought it at 28k miles and am now at 63k and it’s still going strong. The only thing I’ve replaced is the rear brakes and that was about two weeks ago. My only complaint is that my stereo doesn’t always turn on. Sometimes after the car has been off and I turn it back on it takes a few minutes for it to come back on. Tried asking the dealership about it but of course when taking it in the stereo worked fine so they told me nothing was wrong.

CVT Do Not Buy

I bought a 2815 Sentra SV new. I am meticulous about maintenance .At 70,000 miles in 2019 the transmission was shot . The exact same day , the CVT on my wife's Altima began hesitating. We bought two Kias-2017 low mileage loaded Optima and 2018n loaded Sportage with 10,000 miles and dealer extends the 10 year /100,000 mile powertrain warranty to lifetime if you have regularly scheduled maintenance done at dealer. Eighteen months later, no issues with the Kias. Never will buy a car with CVT again.

Our family has always bought Nissan. We've purchased the Sentra, Titan, Frontier. This 2015 Sentra is a big disappointment. We've gone to dealership with trans problems 1 1/2 years ago and had to argue with them about what was happening. They said no codes show so they can't do anything. Vehicle would completely shut down on freeway and I couldn't drive over 30. I told dealer don't want it back till fixed. My wife is afraid to drive it and I don't blame her. Dealer replaced valve body and trans oil and it seemed to run OK for awhile. After hot weather last week my wife had the same problem again. Lack of power and get over 25 mph. Of course it's the CVT again. Thank God warranty extended to 84000 miles for CVT Trans. I'll be calling dealer today and bickering with them again. What a disappointing vehicle !! Worse than the Ford Pinto. How can there not of been a massive recall on this unsafe vehicle !!

I would give this car negative stars if possible. Transmission started going bad 2 years in. After replacing it with a new transmission, it only lasted 14000 miles and the warranty only covered 12000 miles. How convenient! I can't wait to sign up for the class action law suit

I was in the market for a used car. I bought this 2015 Nissan Sentra, base model, in 2017, for $10,500. Interestingly, today, it's worth $10,000. That's what I was offered on a trade in. But, all used cars these days seem to be priced higher than they would be without Covid. Still, not bad; it hasn't depreciated hardly at all. I bought it with 16,000 miles on it. Today, it has 44,000. The car had a few issues early on. I had to get the A/C fan replaced. And the brake system had to have repairs as well. Both those failures occurred within the original warranty. Since then, I've had no issues whatsoever. Sure, it's a small engine, so you can't expect much there. But I get about 27 mpg around town (Los Angeles), and about 45 mpg on the freeway. Otherwise, the cabin and trunk are both roomy and comfortable. The car has exceeded my expectations for reliability and cost of ownership. I can sincerely recommend without reservation.

I brought my Sentra in 2016 used. I had to change the brake every 4 months since I had my 🚗.Now it is 2019 and my transmission is slipping. It not under warranty and the dealership want to charge $4,300 to fix it. Or I can trade it in for $2,000 but I have $10,059 left to pay it off. At this moment Sentra are not good 🚗.
