Used 2013 Nissan Rogue SV 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT) Consumer Reviews
In one word: Practical
I was happy with my 2013 Nissan Rogue for the first 5 years as I wasn't experiencing the transmission issues. I figured Nissan fixed all that. Nope. The CVT has always struggled going up basic hills and mountain terrain. I have an auxillary transmission cooler as part of the deluxe package, which I think is helping to keep it from losing power due to overheating. But it has begun leaking and needs replaced at only 40,000 miles. I recommend having this extra cooler for CVT longetivity but it also introduces the potential for leakage (extra hoses, etc.). The OEM tires dry-rotted within a year - garbage. The body rattles underneath and some cheaply-made exhaust shields make a metal grinding noise at certain RPM ranges. The electric power steering gave out during sub-zero cold weather. The car is easy to maintain otherwise and it runs pretty good, getting about 25mpg fuel efficiency on average. I don't follow the manual and instead change the coolant and transmission oil every 30,000 miles despite it being touted as 'lifetime'. Using full synthetic 5W30 engine oil has proven to be good for it. If Nissan hadn't put such garbage underpowered CVTs in these, and had used some better quality parts (exhaust shields, tires, etc.), these would be decent cars. Cargo room is good. Comfort is good. SV / SL package options are nice. There are blind spots but easily overcome by adjusting mirrors and using rearview camera. Engine runs good and is easy to maintain. Nissan used to be good but the Renault aquisition brought the quality downhill. Hopefully, with a rigid maintenance schedule and light use, I can get 100K out of this. But I'm losing confidence in that. I will never buy another Nissan.

Go Rogue
Never leave the keys in the ignition, you will be locked out of the car! I hope this to is a glitch particular to my vehicle though, since no car should auto lock with the keys in the ignition, but beware. My dealership, of course, says nothing is wrong with it, go figure. Blind spots are larger than I would like. The CVT transmission is NOT loud! The gas mileage is great for an AWD vehicle, and my tires are not wearing out due to that, which I had always believed would be the case. Storage of personal items interior is awkward, but the rear storage and split back seat is very convenient. I live in Maine, and have always driven with studded snow tires in winter months. Since I bought this car two years ago, with only average tires (Goodyear Destination) from the dealer, I have felt more than safe and have been in control of the vehicle at every moment. Nissan in general is a top choice for your money, this is my third. The cost of this certified pre-owned car included a 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper from the dealer on top of the factory warranty, so I am confident you can get one for much less than I did.

2013 Nissan Rogue
Purchased vehicle in Feb 2013 and have problems. I only have 28000 on it now. Tires are Continental and are cracking in between the treads told I need new ones thats going to run about $600. Transmission is leaking and needs new gasket. Since the pan has to removed it is recommended to change the filter and fluid thats going to run over $200. Ihave read reports that the transmission has problems when mileage starts to go over 50000. I am getting a bit nervous as I will need to use the car much more then I am now. I have had steering noises which was taken care of while under warranty but now is happening again. I have no idea what this will cost. Others have reported that the doors lock on their own. Mine does that tried to tell dealer but didnt get anywhere as it seems to happen sporadically. I actually keep a spare key hidden under the car in case I get stuck. There is a "speed" feature which is supposed to make the car feel sporty when driving. I havent felt a thing. Headlight lenses are already fading. Definitely has blind spot problems and rear views are limited. Back up monitor could be better (wider views side to side and up and down). Engine noise is high and so so with acceleration and when cool out, tapping noise is heard. Dealer stated it was normal. Consumer reports survey done after a year of purchasing this model showed that only half would repurchase. I am in the half that wouldnt. I admit I went with the price being lower than the other comparable SUV's. I understand that as cars get older repairs have to be made but I worry that serious problems will need attention sooner than later.

5 star safety
This is an amazing car. It was in an accident. It rolled more than three times, the car is totaled. But no one was hurt. All of the airbags deployed, the outside was smashed, but the inside held strong. I wish I could upload a picture, so everyone could see how amazing it is that no one was hurt in the accident. Because of the safety of this car.

Transmission Gave Out Way Too Soon!
I have never been a huge fan of Nissans but my wife had purchased her 2013 Nissan Rogue prior to us meeting. She loved the vehicle, but I was not a fan. I felt that the seats were very uncomfortable, and it seemed like there were always little things here and there that needed to be fixed/replaced. At 112,000 miles, the transmission gave out without a warning. There was no check engine light or any other indication that something was wrong. It just locked down while she was driving it. We had it towed to a local mechanic and he said the transmission had given out. I was shocked that it had died at only 112k miles but he stated it was fairly common with this vehicle. After $4000, we had a new transmission. Within a month, while driving down a highway, the vehicle hit a small patch of ice, lost control, and slid off the road hitting a guard rail. The side airbags went off and thankfully all of us in the vehicle were completely unharmed. Out insurance declared it a total loss and I was grateful to be done with it. I just wished we had crashed it before wasting $4000 on a new transmission.
