2014 Pathfinder SL Transmission problems

2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl CVT)

I've read many reviews and problems with the 2013-2014 Pathfinder. Sad to say, I now must join the crowd. Bought a 2014 Pathfinder SL new, started judder/shutter @ 10,000 miles. Took to dealer for a "reprogram." Shudder/judder again at 20,000 miles. Took to dealer for a "new/rebuild" CVT transmission (under warranty). 60,000 miles later, sudder/judder has returned. Dealer is saying we need yet another transmission, and it's OUT of warranty. Why would I want to sink $3,500-$4,000 into ANOTHER nissan pathfinder transmission? Almost 90K miles, taken to dealer 3x for transmission problems. Sadly, this has ruined me from buying another CVT Nissan. The dealership was great, and we loved the SUV, size, and design but can't handle the transmission problems again.

Shuddering transmission

2014 Nissan Pathfinder S 4dr SUV 4WD (3.5L 6cyl CVT)

As others vehicle shudders at low speed but not consistenly and never in the shop and nor did our dearship know or ever heard of this problem. On recent vacation when our car was lowed to the nearest dealership, that's an enitely different story, we mentioned it to the service manager who know exactly what I was talking as soon as I said transmission problems. They have replace two transmissions already with the exact same issue. Conclusion is we mentioned it yet a third time to our local dealership who finally tried some thing revolutionary and looked up the problem on the internet! Finally agreed to address the issue. New transmission being installed as we speak.

1. Affordability - Priced $10k to $20k under all other premium based Hybrid SUVs. 2. Luxurious - a very quiet and smooth ride. Leg and head room galore. Has everything even the heated and cooled leather seats front and heated seats back. 3. Economical- Rated with an all around MPG of 26. First tank full of gas resulted in a city/highway drive mix 29 MPG. 4. Stylish- The Pathfinder just looks good! 5. I am still amazed and surprised with all the appointments. I love this car! I am Happy! Happy!

Overall - poor designed car

1. The Noise coming from the CVT engine is awful. Something that was never heard in any other car. Nissan Canada claim this is normal for this car. 2. connection between the fuel consumption that Nissan advertised and reality is absolutely non-exist. Expect around 30% more. 3. Quality of interior materials super low. Just move your hand in the inner part of the steering wheel.. Hope you will not cut yourself from that poorly manufactured plastic parts.

Buyer Beware- Failure to Disclose Safety Issues

I continue to receive requests to "update my review," but I stand by what I posted originally. Working with Nissan was the worst experience ever. Their refusal to address my valid concerns will not be forgotten (September 23, 2023). Their deceitfulness in not disclosing known transmission issues and transponder key "dead zones" could have resulted in the loss of life of my children. As I attempted to resolve this matter, by just wanting to exchange the vehicle, it was ignored. I even attempted to reach individuals at the corporate level and my messages were blocked. Even one of the Nissan Dealers admitted that Nissan knew about transmission issues yet, rushed to get the product to market. Please stop harassing me by asking me to "update my review." My opinion of Nissan/Infinity is forever damaged. To this day, no one from the company ever reached out to me. Even though I have received multiple requests to "update my review," I stand by what I posted originally. Working with Nissan was the worst experience ever. Their refusal to address my valid concerns will not be forgotten (March 23, 2023). My Original review that they keep asking me to change...."Had multiple issues with my 2014 Pathfinder SL. Needed a new radiator, new transmission, new software, and new fuel sensors. First, no 4 yr. old vehicle with only 42K miles should not need a new transmission. The keyless entry doesn't work consistently locking keys in the vehicle. Nissan is aware that their vehicle has specific areas known as "dead zones" where the key does not work, yet fails to disclose this to consumers. This is very dangerous as a mom could easily shut a door to retrieve something from the trunk and end up with her children locked in the vehicle. A simple safety bulletin warning consumers of "known" dead zones where the key transponder does not consistently work (cup holder/trunk, per Nissan Corporate Office) would be much appreciated and is the right information to share with consumers for their safety. Failing to disclose known issues with a vehicle is total negligence on Nissan's part and should be changed. Hopefully, Nissan will do the right thing and update their owner's manuals to reflect these dangerous "dead zones," or issue a consumer safety bulletin.
