Used 2016 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab Consumer Reviews
One of the last light trucks left & still the best
First, this truck is has retained the same basic design for two decades, so all the bugs have been worked out. Second, the only other truck like it in its class is the Toyota Tacoma, but you pay a $12,000 premium for one of those. And the Frontier has significant advantages: this truck has the tightest steering in its class. Having read a review in Edmunds, and having driven ALL the Frontier's competitors, I have no idea what is meant when Edmunds refers to "heavy steering." I took this new truck, with its 6-speed manual up Ute Pass on US 24 west of Colorado Springs. This stretch comprises 14 miles of 30-45 speed zones with very tight mountain turns and switchbacks. Here the 30-45 speed limits are realistic, not restrictive. Yet I took this new Frontier Pro 4X at 65 mph the entire way and did not slip or slide once. The frame is slightly shorter and wider than the Frontier's competitors, so it held the road that much better. I cannot say enough good about the handling of this truck. The Bilstein suspension makes it handle better and deliver a far smoother ride than its Isuzu/Colorado/Canyon/Tacoma competition. Moreover, while the US manufacturers are busy forcing automatic transmissions down our individual and collective throats whether we want them or not, Nissan was doing it right by offering this superb, proven vehicle in its 2016 off-road version. My gas mileage average in-town is 17/18, but combined driving I average 19-20. I have had higher from my 2007 Isuzu I-370, which I bought new 17 years ago, but the Pro4X is geared lower, since it is an off-road vehicle. So, for those who want a superb on-and-off-road vehicle with superior power and handling AND a manual transmission, I recommend this version of the Frontier above all others. Unfortunately, since I first published this review, Nissan has discontinued the standard manual transmission offering in this model, so I will keep mine. Oh, and the signature cloth seats with the Pro-4X logo are far more comfortable than the leather seat option. Finally, I have learned that Nissan is discontinuing their manual transmissions for this model. That is a real bummer. Toyota still offers a manual on their Tacomas--but you have to order that from the factory and it takes at least 6 months. Toyota also carries a $15,000 mark-up over the Nissan.

Good low cost dependable truck
I purchased this truck used 8700 miles on it. It has been very dependable and gets 17.5 miles per gal. in town. added a rear view camera which this vehicle needs. Also I installed an HID light system. The truck does not have a lot of bells and whistles. It has been very dependable and I like the 4.0 V6 automatic Trans. combination. This trucks performs well and I would purchase it again. I have had no dealership problems and only have performed routine Maintenance. I have driven the Frontier about 9,000 miles now and I love the truck all around performance. 7/4/19 24000 miles truck has performed flawlessly. No problems this is a grate truck and I am very happy with it. Added a backup camera and HID light system which this truck should have had from factory. All else grate.

Rugged Value that will arrive where you want it to
This truck has offered me everything I need and nothing I don’t. It’s engine is 5-speed perfection that reminds you that’s all you need in a vehicle- it gets you where you want to go in any weather. I have gotten used to the anti-bling interior that is a rarity nowadays, more like a Motel 8 interior you will soon feel comfortable in if you’re tired enough. It’s a truck, so shiny is not a word in its dictionary. If you need a truck for work and play- no need to look further. It won’t let you down.
