I bought the Altima 3.5SL which includes virtually all Altima options including V6 engine, leather, heated seats, Bose sound, navigation, radar warnings, smart cruise control which brakes the car automatically, plus upgraded trim and bigger tires. The acceleration is great, almost like driving my prior Maximas (4), but better gas mileage, and the seats are more comfortable. I got about 1/3 off ($10,000) the list price which convinced me to buy it rather than a comparable, new Maxima. I think its styling is better than comparable Camry or Accord. I'm an industrial designer and mechanical engineer. I now have about 47,000 miles on this care, added 2 new tires because one got punctured (original 2 Dunlop tires still good) and it's still a GREAT CAR!

GET THE 3.5L ENGINE - TOTAL PERFORMANCE

Great car. Bought it as an Exec Driven car with about 4,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, they dropped the 3.5L engine (270HP) after 2017 and replaced it with a four cylinder Turbo for 2019. The 3.5L V6 engine makes a huge difference in the car. Great performance and you think you are driving more of a BMW/ Lexus performance car. Fast car and very maneuverable. Interior is leather and loaded with all the GPS and other electronics. I just replaced the Anti-Sway Bar, exhaust systems and Cold Air Intake with Stillen performance parts (a total cost about $1,100 all installed). Gets the car even more performance and the Anti-Sway bar is four times thicker than what is on it (and made of aircraft steel). Stiffer ride and corners very well. More rear headroom than the Nissan Maxima (comfortable to sit in back seat). A great choice for what money we had to spend. Great dealer service as well. The 2.5L is a good engine match for the Altima (have driven them from the Car Rental companies), but the 3.5L makes it a totally different car - a performance car - NOT an econobox. Why buy a performance sedan at double the price??? Tack on the extra performance parts from Stillen and you have a NISMO Altima 3.5L. At 31,000 - no problems. A recall on the hood latch which I will go in for the update. As for the add-on of the Performance Parts from Stillen - a great investment. It is like driving a 350Z with four doors. If you can find one used, pick it up - you won't regret it. the 3.5L makes a huge difference in performance. I have put more miles on my 2017 Nissan Armada and this car (the Altima) still has a new car smell. I need to drive it more so I don't put all the miles on the truck which is also a great vehicle. Sold it with about 34.000 miles on it (low mileage) and took the cash. Later on, bought a new 2023 Armada (got a great price). The Altima 3.5SL was a great car to drive. If you can find one used, it is a lot of car.

Built for speeding tickets!

When accelerating pay close attention to the speedometer, you go from 0-Mach50 in seconds. It's hard to go the speed limit. But it does get great mpg and great for having children and car seats. Built for highway not country roads

Grandma loves her new mid-size sports car

I knew nothing about Nissan or Altima. I think I saw something on the internet. The dealership called me. They talked me into coming down to the dealership. My husband and I went down and we ended up buying the car on the spot. I LOVE THIS CAR! We both feel like we are almost in a sports car. It is fun to drive, I feel very safe in it because of all of the safety features. We both have loved this car right from the first time we got into it. We got all of the bells and whistle and we are still learning how to use it. This is a great car for us. (NOTE: we have had nothing but SUV's for years, we moved our of an area that gets a lot of snow to the desert so I don't need an SUV, besides my husband still has one.) Boy am I loving having a fun, good looking, sharp car.)

3.5SL is definitely an enthusiast's car

I have the 2017.5 (released fall 2017) SL3.5 sedan. This vehicle is a great "sleeper." It looks like a shrug of a car: cute but not overly so, quiet, and well-mannered. It is only available in sensible colors. The interior is "meh," although the front seats are remarkably comfortable. Everything changes when you drive it. If I floor this car from a stop, the whole front end lifts up off the ground; while it doesn't accelerate like a true sportscar, it is surprisingly quick. The CVT transmission is responsive at any speed. While it doesn't corner on rails per se, the steering is crisp. It performs like a champ in tropical rainstorms and in Midwest snowstorms. Best of all, my insurance is super-cheap. (Altima is not considered a performance car, but Maxima is.) I bought this car new, and it has given me zero mechanical problems in the past 5 years. My only complaints are the "premium" stereo (It's awful), the cheap/thin paint, and the super-quiet, restrictive exhaust. I'm intending to add a cat-back system one of these days and maybe a few other performance upgrades. Last year, I went looking for a new car, but honestly, I couldn't find anything I liked better than this one. Honestly, the driving experience is reminiscent of a 1990s Cadillac with the Northstar v8 (but with a lot less wallowing around corners).
