Creak, rattle, and roll.
Can’t believe car is rated 4 out of 13. We have 125,000 miles and are on our third transmission. All three have been replaced under warranty and third one makes just as much noise as first two did and should probably be replaced but first we have to replace the front wheel bearings, again! The wheel bearing noise wouldn’t be so noticeable if you could play the radio but half the time the radio display is blank and radio doesn’t work and since the A/C blows cold air into the cabin in its own schedule half the time you have to drive with the windows down which also, luckily, helps to drown out the wheel bearing and transmission noise. The nice thing with the windows down and the fresh breeze blowing through the car you can pretend you’re at the beach in stop and go traffic with all the water that sloshes around in the front passenger side door. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this car!

These Altimas rocked!
I owned one for 8 years with absolutely no problems save replacing the brake starter switch 6 months after I bought it. It has been a great commuter car. The Bose audio system is top of the line. Like most Nissans, it just ran and ran and ran completely reliably. The CVT was never a problem. The SL package with heated leather seats was nice. The engine always ran smoothly and had good to great acceleration, if occasionally 3/4 a second of hesitation when punched. The audio was the most outdated thing on it, as it pre-dated Airplay or any LCD-type display, just textual radio displays and (gasp) a 6-disc CD changer. It only required normal maintenance - oil changes, rotations, a couple of 60Kers. It was still in great condition when I sold it in '19.

Transmission issue
I have seen lots of problems with my Nissan Altima and having another problem with Transmission now. It really sucks, don't buy Nissan ever.

Bad transmission, bad brakes, noisy engine
Terrible transmission, brakes have to be changed every six months, worse car is snow... Do you want more reasons to stay away from this piece of junk called Altima? i got blue tooth and leather seats in my altima but who cares for these options when the car transmission failed on the first year of ownership... This car was the worse purchase i have ever made
Glad I bought it
I bought my 2009 Nissan Altima new. I was looking for a new car and went to a local car show, where they had many cars of the type I was looking for (sedans). IÂm 6Â5Â tall, my first concern was whether I fit or not. Either not enough head room or not enough leg room eliminated 90% of the cars. Price range, basic features, comfort narrowed it down to this car. I chose the bigger engine for more control and better handling. I have almost 60,000 miles on it now and I still love the car. I did have a problem with the front windshield cracking within the first month; they replaced it without any problem. This car has been well worth my investment.
