The BEST CAR EVER!!!
My baby has been such a GREAT car. She has been extremely reliable. I got my money's worth over and over again. I love her and I still have her-she has 168,000 and still running. I LOVE this car and if I could pick her up and hug her I would and tell her thank you for carrying me and my beautiful child around everywhere. It is a shame that they do not make them anymore.
My very first car, the Mitsubishi Mirage
I think this car is great. I bought it used at 57k miles and I havn't had problems with the vehicle at all! The accleration is crazy for a 1.5 litre engine. Pick up is pretty good, however, I just wish I had an RPM meter so I know when to switch gears. I recommend to get this car in a 5 speed manual. Automatic, from what I heard, is a slow "P.O.S." I would recommend this car to first time buyers, mainly the young crowd. Great for teens and great for commuting for school and work.

Great, inexpensive car
My 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage has been such a fun, little, reliable car! I'm bothered by folks who view Mitsubishi as bad cars....my first car was a Dodge Colt (engine imported by Mitsubishi) and that too, was a great car until I retired it at 130,000 to buy the Mirage. I've had the Mirage for five years and bought it knowing it was in an accident and was used as a rental (all of which are no-nos for resale)--but I have never had a problem. Absolutely nothing! I'm now looking at the new Endeavor for my next car. Mitsubishi has never let me down!
Been a great car
This has been a great car. I bought it new in 1999. It has been very reliable and fun to drive. It is a great starter car. However, the tires, be it the brand or industry perks, have been my only major headache with this car. I am forever dealing with tire issues. Aside from some minor maintenance, this car needed nothing more than general tune-ups and oil changes to keep it going the 9 years I have had it. I will be sad to sell it.
97 Mirage LS
Bought a 97 Mirage LS from a friend with 92K on it.I didn't know the car and was really just taking a chance;however, this will tend to be the most reliable I ever bought.THIS LIL THING HATES REPAIR SHOPS I on 190K and this runs around like a two year child. Will not sell it any time soon, so I changed the control arms, paint job, all struts and mounts, alternator and tie rods.I will push this thang to 300K. Still cheaper owning it than making car payments
Small Reliable Gas Saver!
Purchase car some 166,000 miles ago and have enjoyed its reliability, gas savings, and small car comfort. Yes, it does hesitate on steep hills (only has a 1.5 engine), but it makes the hills. I have traveled from Florida to Nevada, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and now live in Pennsylvania. I make trips to New York and Massachusetts. I do not tire in driving this car. Maintenance has not been a major issue. Yes, I have changed the struts, brakes - but that is to be expected with its mileage. I do recommend consideration of this vehicle for college or young family starting out in life. It has more than paid for its purchase price many, many times. Enjoy.
LS coupe
I like my car. I have had no problems with it. I think it is a great buy with the resale value what it is. If you are looking to buy a mirage try to get a LS. The difference between the LS and the DE is night and day.
Daily driver
I drive 200 to 300 miles a day as an auto adjuster. I have owned three 1.5 liter 5 speed manual trans mirages and these are the most trouble free and highest mileage vehicles I have ever driven. I am saddened that Mitsubishi stopped making them. 206,000 miles on my first one an a/c compressor, 293,000 on the second and only inner and outer tie rods, third 167,000 inner and outer tie rods.
Cheapest car I have ever owned
This is by far the cheapest car in quality I have ever had the displeasure to own. The paint looks as if they used the worst they could find, and this includes a repaint job I had done to repair a collision. It is loud at any speed. The window cranks open on their own due the harsh ride leaving me with wind noise on the highway when I can't adjust it. Mitsubishi must mean "substandard" in Japanese.
I love it
I love the mirage. It's very reliable and runs great. The mpg are great. I wish I found the car sooner.
Everyone should have one.
I purchased this vehicle as a restored/salvage car. It had 19,000 miles and now has 56,000 with no problems in between. I've had the brakes adjusted once and that's it!!! I've maintained it well and never skimped on oil changes and other scheduled maintainance. Gas milage is great at 40 mpg on the highway. The quality isn't quite that of a Honda or Toyota but then again neither is the cost, and it looks better. I would buy another Mirage without a second thought.
Problems
Front Disc Brakes have been change 5 times in 42000 miles. Vehicle interior carpet passanger front has become detached from sidewall vehicle since purchased. Poor resale value after 3 years.
Gas saving fun
I just recently purchased my Mirage in 2010. I was slightly concerned buying a car that was 11 years old, but it honestly was all I could afford. I absolutely love my car now! I get about 32 mpg, and have to fill up the tank every two weeks! With the small gas tank that means about $25 every two weeks for gas! The only thing I miss is cup holders! mine is kind of a stripped down model which is good because I prefer window cranks but it's almost impossible to take a beverage on the go!
I love my MIRAGE COUPE LS!!!!
I purchased a 1999 mirage coupe LS. Let me tell you it is such a FUN little car. It has such pep and its so kool looking. There's so much you can do to this little car. Mine's a stick shift and I learned to drive stick with this car. It's so easy. It's GREAT on gas and it only takes about $13 to fill my tank! The interior is tan seats and black dash, it's so sporty looking. I like to call it my mini sporty galant. I LOVE this car and I would recommend it with 9.9's all across the board!!!
Mirage DE Coupe
The power isn't the greatest but what do you expect for a 1.5 litre engine and for the price and fuel economy (40 mpg on the highway) you really can't complain. It handles incredibly (literally could turn on a dime). And I've added a few fairly inexpensive modifications that have increased the performance in areas. Overall really good car.
Great Little Car
We have had no problems with our Mirage. Husband is a little uncomfortable because of the size.
Do not buy!!!!
This car is terrible! I only owned it for a year before it started falling apart. The paint faded at about 50k and the car struggles going up hills. The brakes constantly had to be repaired.
Great first car!
I love my Mirage! I just need something bigger now. It is my first car that I bought on my own. Very affordable and reliable!
Basic Transportation, Great Quality
Bought with 8K on the odometer 5/99. Right now I have 142K miles with no visits to the shop other than scheduled maintenance with the exception of once for a warranty radio replacement. I bought the car as a commuter vehicle and it has done that job very well.
shwing
I like the car alot, treats you well and rides very smooth. everything you want in a car

overall good car great to drive. Fun car for any one who is starting out as a young driver
Great Car
The Mitsubishi Mirage is an awesome car. I wouldn't give it up for anything. I bought it with 34,000 miles on it and it now has 163,000 miles. It has been nothing but good for the past 5 years. I love this car.
So Far So Good
I purchased this vehicle to replace a 96 Park Ave. That had 68K. I just wanted a little commuter car this vehicle fits the bill that for sure. While driving 80 - 85 MPH with A/C on I am getting 32 MPG. That is very acceptable.
Great reliable basic transportation
Purchased the car 3 years ago with 53,000 miles on it. I now have 110,000 miles on the odometer, the car has been trouble free and is very economical and reliable. Other than regular oil changes and scheduled maintenance it has not cost a cent!!
Great affordable car!!
Bought it rental used @ 27,000 miles. Affordable. Great stock sound system especially the speakers. Very reliable. Excellent design. Sporty look. Gas friendly. Smooth. Quiet. Easy to tune and customize. Light and great handling. Roomy. An excellent car overall - especially for those looking for all of the above without breaking too much wallet. I had to let this go when it got totalled at 110,000. :(
A Fine Little Car
Travelled across country, felt very comfortable. Great gas mileage. Average repair record. A delight to drive.
My little loveable Mirage!
I love this little car. It has great gas mileage too, so that saves a lot of money. Those big V8 trucks are nice too, but who wants to pay $70 dollars a week! I know I don't. My experience with this car was great and I'm glad I purchased it. I still have it with no problems with it with all those miles on it. I love my little Mirage. I can't let it go to someone else.
Think twice before buying
I bought my 99 mitsubishi when it was about a year and something old in 2001. a few months after purchasing it , it gave me problems mostly with the brakes. It is crazy how many times I have gotten the brakes fix .
