Used 1999 Mercury Sable Sedan Consumer Reviews
Solid and Dependable
Car has worked flawlessly, nothing but regular maintenance to date. Replaced original set of tires at 58k miles. Automatic transmission shifting good be smoother from low to high gear when power accelerating. Car is ugly, but very comfortable to drive.
Great Car at Great Price
I bought my 1999 Sable in 2000. I have only had to do routine maitenance on it and have had NO problems with the car whatsoever. It is a smooth and comfortable ride and the most dependable car I have ever owned. The only negative thing I can even say about it is that it is a bit of a gas hog. Other than that, I love my Sable:)
Ford: 4 letter word that starts w/ F
At 64K miles the transmission went out. It was a bad bearing on the pumpshaft which took out the torque converter. That cost $850. At 87K miles a friend wanted to buy it. I told him to have a mechanic check it out and drive it for a few days. Turns out the head gasket was blown. I had no idea. It never got hot and since you can't actually see in the radiator, and the little bottle stayed full, nobody caught it. We are now pround Camry owners.
Dollar to Death
The QC at ford stinks. The wagon has only 64000 on it and a landry list of reparis. Starting with half shafts, then warped rotors, then the 3rd brake lite flew off, then the vacumn system failed (this means your car will start but not move, fun). Also before the vacumn failed the Service light came on and the yo-yos at the dealership couldnt find the problem. Now the RF window is poping out. What a hunk of junk, my real feelings are R rated!
something wrong
I have owned this vehicle for thity days. There is something wrong when the car is cold. There is a hesitation in the accelleration at about 40 miles per hour. The dealer replaced a transmission line and a purge cannister (gas was leaking). the dealership has been good to take care of the charges so far.
