really grand
This car has been a dream. 3 round trips from AZ to CO by myself were in total comfort. Mechanically there have been no problems. Regular maint. is all that has been necessary.
Safe
Bought "my baby" new in 1999. Still not a scratch on her. Waxed many times and looks better than new. For long distance driving, this is the way to go. Smooth and quiet, and so safe. Riding in other cars now, feels so choppy and harsh. Great to get back into my Grand Marquis. Will never buy a smaller jolty car again.
Good Reliability
I got this car at 40,000 miles for free from my dad. It took some getting used to but it is alright for now. It's too floaty and can't get comfortable in the front seats. Ford needs to redesign this 70's interior. Pay me a couple hundred grand and I will tell you how to do it Ford. It is obvious you are overpaying your help with this one. The only thing I like about it is it has not broken down yet. What the heck is wrong with Ford for not having anti-lock brakes standard on this car. Give me a break. It's like I am in my dad's Impala from the 70's. The car has decent headlights and hopefully will get me around this winter with no problem.
Not Bad For a Boat
Best highway cruiser I've owned since my 74 Impala. Extremely quiet, ample power and at 22 mpg, you can't complain. Strong signs of ancient automotive technology like analog gauges, but the car seems rock solid. Would seriously entertain buying a sportier model than the GS when this one is used up.
