Used 2003 Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUV Consumer Reviews
GREAT SUV
Best value, everything great about this SUV except gas consumption.
A nice SUV overall
This SUV is one of the safetest vehicles currently available. It's handling and ride quality are very good. The exterior styling is nice. The interior styling is ok. The instrument panel is, for the most part, ergonomically layed out. The third row seats are a nice option to have. The new auto climate controls for the front and the back work well. However, the sun sensor is a little too sensitive. As far as reliability, our vehicle has been solid and we have had zero problems to report in the last year. There are currently a lot of choices available in the premium SUV market, but MB is staying with the competition.

ITS COME A LONG WAYS FROM 1998
MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS FROM MY OLD 1998 ML320, MOST PRIOR OWNERS WILL NEVER COME BACK. I FEEL MERCEDES BENZ CARS AND SUV'S ARE THE SAFEST BUILT VEHICLES IN THE WORLD AND THAT IS WHY I HAVE COME BACK FROM A 1998 ML 320 TO A 2003 ML 500. WHAT A DIFFERENCE WITH OVER A 1000+IMPROVEMENTS.
ML 500 slightly disappointing
Excellent vehicle overall, however a number of minor defects take away from the overall positive impression we have. Defects include: window trim that is fading extremely quickly/unevenly; rear windows which watermark w/o remediation possible; climate control fan system which randomly sends air to areas of its own choosing (noisy as well). Dealer resists repairing despite informing me these are "common problems" on ML 500's.
2002 ML 320
This is my 3rd ML, improvements over the '98 and '00 models were needed. Rear a/c and heat, rear air bags (safety concern for my children); better stereo system; turn signal lights on the side mirrors; Tele-aid
