1997 E-320
Classy car with a touch of flare. Fun to drive around town and extremely comfortable on long trips. The trunk can swallow four large suitcases and there is plenty of room for five adults. I can't find anything I would change, and I can't think of another car I would rather own.
My dream car
I always wanted an E320 MB. My dream materialized in April of 2002. This is my first of many MB purchases. MB will be the only brand of car I will drive going forward. I totaly love the car, and so does my family and friends. My E320 MB is definitely a head-turner!!! Coming from a Honda civic, I'm in awe. I recommend this vehicle to all.

Love my E320
Handles great turns on a dime. Plenty of pick up. Great ride
!st time Mercedes owner
As a first time owner of a Mercedes, I am not impressed. The seating is not comfortable. No adjustable lumbar support and I'm still trying to figure out what component of the seat frame is either loose or in need of replacement The seat "Pops" upon acceleration, deceleration or cornering. I'm glad I didn't dish out the big bucks for a new model. This is 5 yrs. old. Next car will be a Lexus.
MBZ and I like IT!!!!!
I bought this car from San Ramon German Motors. It had 22000 miles when I got it. It has 25k now. Awsome car. The sound system is remarkable. The interior is well layed out. Everything is were you need it. I especially like the Adjustable seats. The integrated key and infrared fob thing is one of the best parts....No seperate fob. (jay)
CLASS ACT
I just got it so I still in love!! Plus still under warranty so no worry for at least a year.
Black Opal E420
A real sleeper. comfortable and powerful auto. Cheaper to run than a 1999 Volvo S80
Wonderful Car!
I bought my E420 on December 26, 2002 with 18,106 miles on it. I have had NO Trouble Whatsoever. Everything works and works well. The car was like new inside and out and with 24,300 on the clock, it still is. I feel for those that got a bad one. On the other hand, I can hardly imagine a better car if you got a good one, as I did. I can hardly believe the soldity and smoothness of this machine. I would simply urge anyone in the market for one to scrutinize the car extensively BEFORE purchasing it.
Best Ride!
This car drives the best of any comparable cars! Smooth and stable cornering, solid feel, and impressive acceleration. Having owned Lexus for many years, I believe the quality of the details are more superior on the Lexus but the LS400 cannot compete with this one on the quality of the ride. Get used to more stares and attention driving a Mercedes compared to other luxury cars!
Most fun luxury sedan/check engine light
I turn heads and people can't believe what you can get them for. However, my gripe is that in six months, it has been in to the dealership five times at least. Starmark is great but beware many things are not covered, I have paid $1000 out of pocket already and claimed $2000 more. And I also have the popping seat frame on acceleration etc. as another reviewer mentioned.(not covered by starmark). This is truly a love/hate relationship and my local service dept. hasn't impressed me with misdiagnoses only to be fixed at another dealership. Hope you all won't be as unlucky as me. In closing though this car is a wonderful combination of luxury and sport feel.
Still new.
I purchased the car with 26,000 miles and have driven it for 3 1/2 years. It now has 84,000 miles and still runs, drives, and looks like a brand new car. It has been the most reliable car I have ever driven and I am amazed at how a V8 can have so much power on demand and yet still get great gas mileage around town.
Great vehicle
I have had no major problems with it. It is continuously pleasing to drive and admire. It's hard to get sick of it. The features of this car are great. I personally think this is the greatest sedan made in its price range, a perfect balance of elegance, safety, luxury, reliability, and safety.
Great Vrooom
Great to drive on gentle country roads with the sunroof open and the Bose system jammin. Feels like a Benz is suppose to. It makes you feel like water on moderately crowded freeways.
Not the best car available
many mechanical and transmission problems
Great Car Technology
I bought this car 1.5 months ago with only 67,500 miles and it drives great! Previous owner took great care of this car and it shows. Only basic maintenance required over a nine year period! I had this car thoroughly checked by a mechanic and myself on rack and was amazed at the great condition of this car. If you take care of these cars they will last for a long time. I plan to get 300,000 miles from this car.
Not bad for a 10 year old
Our car now has 74k on it, we purchased with 54k 2 years ago. It had some issues with some of the seals, but we've turned it into our family car and a daily driver. Heck, before we bought it the car averaged 5.4k a year. We replaced a 1996 Maxima (250k miles), with this car, and honestly the older Maxima had more advanced features. However, having said that you can't image the status upgrade this car will give you, if that's indeed important to you. But seriously, this was not our first European auto, but we were a bit suprised by the price of maintenance and the lack of performance upgrades on the market.
Ugh-first and last Mercedes for me....
Love the power of my 19997 E420, but hate the fact that every little electronic part is failing: the ECU ($2000+), the little fan over the mirror ($200), the seat adjustment working backwards ($???), the ignition key cylinder ($200), the mirror control ($///), the stupid cup holder.... Going on sale this week...
360000 miles!
What can I say. Wonderful! Like driving a cloud! Smooth as glass.

Dissapointed
I am very dissapointed with Mercedes and will no longer ever look to buy one in the future. I purchased my 1997 E420 from a reputable local dealer in 2005 with 54,000 original miles. My vehicle only has 66,000 miles to date and I have been forced to make costle repairs the last six months in excess of $4,000. As the vehicle is only worth $7,000 I feel I have been cheated by chosing such an unreliable hunk of junk. If you are looking for reliability and affordability, this is not the car for you! I have had to replace my lifters,a/c blower, seat motor, ignition, and lastly the radiator cracked. This car is easy to fall in love with its looks but has proven to be venomnous to my bank account!
BIG GERMAN DISAPPOINTMENT
My 4th benz will be my last. OK styling. Enough power but with a noticeable acceleration lag. Even with all the auto gadgets the seats were not comfortable. A great geezer car but not much else. Trans went out at 60000.
The Worst
My husband and I purchased this car from our niece, who was transferred to Hong Kong. We didn't even get it home before we started having problems. The front end needed repairs twice, electrical and wiring several times, 2 batteries, the alternator, the air conditioning. For the three years we have owned this vehicle, we have paid out nearly $10,000 for repairs. It is by far the worst car we have ever owned.
Not Thrilled with MB
I bought this car used and loved the style of it. I have had several problems with it including replacing both electric window motors in the back and constantly have light bulbs blowing out. The electric seats will move in the opposite direction when pushing the buttons. I took out a BMW 540 yesterday and couldn't believe the pickup vs. the E420.
My First Benz
I drove a 1977 Buick Regal for 17 years. Put 275000 miles on the original power train. That vehicle allowed me to save enough to purchase the car that I thought was a gorgeous automobile. Love this car. In the 5 years I have owned this automobile, I have lost a left rear window regulator ($100). BUT, if I had it to do over I would seriously look into an A6 (with an 8).
Bad car for very high price
Car had problems all after warantty period. Horn stopped $140. Outside mirror Broke $450. Left rear window fell down for no reason $300. Head gasket blew.(very common on these cars) $1950. Complained to dealer and Mercedes and got nothing. Will never buy another.
Its a really good car with low mileage
It runs good drove it from California
