CL500 2006 -I do love the car, but
I purchased my car in 2015, I am the second owner. At purchase it had 48, 100 miles. The car now has a mere 53, 230 miles on it. I purchased it because my 1985 560 SEC ran out of useful repairs and could not pass inspection. With my CL 500 the most serious problem that I have had is now in 2023 the driver side soft assist is no longer working as designed. The part needed for the repair I am told is longer available for the left side driver door. So, I am reduced to "slamming" the door ensure the door is closed snug. I love the retractable rear window screen; love the seats, love the ABC (had that fixed this year); love the color- pewter; love the air/heat seat options. Even though I know this car is in the S Class for Mercedes I do not know why MB named it in a CL class. It is an over good car as the reviewers have stated and it is a head turner when parked or on the road. I get so many compliments on this car. It rides excellent on the highway and also around town. As one reviewer stated, this car should be placed in the MB museum when it is time to do so. I concur.

The best or nothing!
When you want to step up to this level of car you will want to make sure everything works before you buy. Make sure to get a warranty also, (just in case). If you want a car that can transport you to the middle of next week "right now" this is the car your looking for. This car can break the tires loose at eighty miles per hour. Cornering is just as capable with the ABC able to keep the car level at all times. Luxury abounds as well. Key less entry, key less start, climate control, power sunshade in rear window, leather with wood trim, heated, cooled, and massaging, sixteen way power seats that I am very comfortable in just to mention a few goodies. So far after 12,000 miles I have had one problem, the trunk not opening. Shouldn't have been a big deal but neither the key nor the electronics would open it. Unfortunately the battery went dead due to one of the trunk opening components draining it. Once all three components were changed at the dealer there have been no problems since. You will have to put in quality gas or the injectors will plug up. They only made 56 of these this year so this is indeed a rare car. I own number 14. It took me a while to figure out the number embroidered in the sun roof cover. The number is "1456". It stands for 14 of 56! To buy one of these new would have cost close to $200,000, ($178,600 base price). You can buy one for a lot less now. A bargain in my book. Another "CL55" owner told me that the CL is the best model Mercedes ever made. This model is stout and sexy, and in my opinion the best looking.

LOVIN MY CL 500
Just purchased my CL 500 on my birthday 3 Oct 06 and has already fallen in love with this beauty! It is sooo sharp and sporty even though it has a sedan sort of style to it. Turns heads like carzy. Very sofisticated in its looks but modernally casual for just that every day ride. I love how it huges the road while giving that sporty. The power for this car has is awsome! . Owning now the S500 and G500 this car, the CL 500, adds alot more exciement to the driving experience. Will be owning this one and all the rest for life!
what I think.
While there isn't much visual differences between the CL500,600,55 the 65 stands alone when it comes to power. The 604hp is almost too much for the rear wheels. I wish it had all wheel drive and was about 1500lbs lighter and was truly stand out that this vehicle cost close to $200K I was tempted to leave the window sticker permanently in the window. I also wish MB would not have put a governor on the vehicle it tops out at 155 where it still has plenty of room to stretch out to the 200 mark. I admit I don't feel 100% safe driving at the mid triple mark speeds b/c it is close to 6K lbs and would hate to have to try to stop or make a swerve If cash is tight go buy a BMW
Comfort zone
Left the 330BMW convertible as it was both uncomfortable and small. The CL500 has made my wife and I feel that it has put us back in a smooth ride again it makes us feel very safe. The style is nice as there isn't a window bar betwween the front and back window giving you as close a feeling to being in a convertable. Very roomy with enough horse power to get onto a parkway that is moving at a fairly fast pace.
