Used 2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Consumer Reviews
Happy-Despite the Break DOWN
Overall the car is nice, I just purchased the vehicle less than a week and it cut off on me, now I do have a loaner, but why should a brand new car cut off especially on the highway. I think actually the new cars are too loaded with the new space age devices, which probably caused my car to cut off. I still love the car though, but I'm hoping I don't go through the horror stories that has been issued pertaining to the other models.
A Worthy Successor
I drove a VW Scirocco for 11 years, partly because I could not find a suitable replacement. The Scirocco has been gone for 7 years and I think I've finally found its worthy successor. I wanted a Teutonic vehicle comparable to the Scriocco, plus a bit more: equal utility & performance, less interior cabin noise (NVH), slightly more back seat head & leg room. Plus good vehicle safety systems (head/side airbags, ABS, etc). The other cars on my short list were the Audi A4 Avant, BMW 325i Wagon, and the VW GTI. Each had their pros/cons. But I found that the C230 was "rightsized" for me - not too big, not too small, and because I skipped buying all but two options, a good value.
- C230 2dr HatchbackMSRP: $950143 mi away
- C230 2dr HatchbackMSRP: $7,988143 mi away
- C240 SedanMSRP: $5,000159 mi away
Great car poor radio
This car is much improved over my 96 220.
Consider Before Buying
After 5k car had no power & stalling. Dealer said heads needed to be replaced(2 weeks later had car back). Told to add Tectron every 2k to reduce reoccurance as it could happen again. On way home dash lit up & indicated car needed service immediately. Returned car-found problem was result of damaged part due to replacing heads. Also passenger door lock refused to opperate. It gets better. Dealer told me to add Tectron when car was almost empty then get gas. When I went to fill up, the gas cap cover refused to open. Couldn't go further & had to wait 4 hrs for service van. There is just no confidence left with the auto. Expect to trade in for a new Lexus.
Great Car for the Money
I got a white ext. with Oyster Leather with C2, C5, C7 and NAV for $32K. Get the leather seat and the Sunroof. The rain sensor is nice so you don't have to keep turning up and down on the wipers. Get the Sport package if you wants all the teenagers to look at your car. And get used to the questions and the stares by the by-standers and Toll-men, Gas-men. and not to mentioned (again) to all the teenagers! The Kompressor was great! No lag at all. Solid car for the money.
