Great little car which is fun to drive. Bought it for my wife and serves as our second car. Five speed shifter is one of the best I have used in my more than 50 years of driving. Started with a 1947 Dodge five speed in my younger days. My advice to any reader is be sure to check this one out. On par with anything on the market. We get 30 mpg combined.
Can't go wrong with a Mazda 3!

I bought my 2010 GX sedan (I don't know which trim level equivalent that is in the States) in 2020 when I had had enough of my 2013 Dodge Dart, but I cover that nightmare in its own review. It had 142,000 kilometers (87,000 miles) on the clock when I bought it, which was about 60,000 km more than the Dart had. What a breath of fresh air this car is. Not a single thing gone wrong in the two years I've had it, other than changing the rear shocks, but that was more of a maintenance thing than something gone wrong. I must admit, when this generation of 3 came out, I thought the front 'smile' looked goofy, but I have come to like it. The dashboard with the two large round instruments looks near perfect and gives a really sporty vibe to the interior. I like how the little display says 'hello' and 'goodbye' too. This car has the 2.0 liter engine and a 5-speed manual. With 152 hp and 135 tq, this is clearly not a performance car, but you can feel the little engine trying its best to please you, and I like that a lot. The car has a happy personality and is quite fun to drive. Some might complain the ride is a little too harsh, but it suits me just fine. 55 series tires absorb a lot of the road imperfections while not sacrificing handling too much. The 5 speed manual offers smooth and crisp shifts, and while a 6 speed might be a tad better for highway use, it really is a small point and doesn't deter much from the enjoyment of the drive. Being the GX model, it is more on the basic side, but I actually prefer that. The fewer electronic bells and whistles, the fewer things to go wrong. Then again, not only is this my first Mazda, it is the first Japanese car I've ever owned. If the electronics are as well engineered as the rest of the car, I guess those bells and whistles wouldn't give me cause for concern either. Every day when I'm out on the roads, I see dozens of this generation 3 out and about, Considering these cars are now between 9-12 years old attests to the fact they are really well built, something that is quite rare with modern cars. I bought mine with the intention of keeping it for a year or so until I could afford to purchase a new car, but I've come to like this model quite a bit. Solidly built, basic without feeling cheap, fun to drive, reliable, fairly economical, and maintenance costs are low. You can't go wrong with a Mazda 3!

I've had this car since June 2009 - it is the worst car for gas I have ever had! My gas light has gone on on avg. at about 183 miles driven! I do all local driving in Brooklyn , the same as my 96 Camry , which by the way got 345 miles per tank! The dealership refuses to acknowledge that the mileage is far below posted 24 mpg as does Mazda USA. This is the worst car to drive - I thought this was a fuel efficient car - no way. I have pictures of the trip indicator on dash to prove this. Do not buy/lease this car ever! It's absurd to think that a 4 cylinder car gets less than 200 miles per tank!

This is my first car. I've had it for about 2 years and 2 months. I loved it at first, then things started to break. My window almost fell out on a highway, all my tires have been changed at least twice, and they went bald after a year and 6 months. I've had my breaks changed after a year. My passenger has stopped working, twice. So many more things have gone wrong with this car, I don't have enough room to type it all. I never should have gotten this car. It is horrible in the snow, and just starts failing after a year. I'm never getting another Mazda, and I'm ending my lease as early as possible. The driving is pretty decent, but it's definitely not worth the money.
Will never purchase a mazda again.

words cannot explain how horrible my experience with mazda was. first my clutch failed(due to pressure plate wearing unevenly) with no warning at 19500 miles, after only owning since november, and then the service department treated me like crap, ignored their mechanics who said it was defective, screamed at me to the point i was in tears in the middle of the floor, and refused to cover the repairs, corporate was not much a better experience as they didnt care and wouldnt give me any answers. i contacted the local news stations and everyone in PITTSBURGH PA will know what has happened.
