My problem with land rover started from the beginning. This is my first land rover discovery and I loved the look and ride. However, poor knowledge of salesman, poor service department support and poor management of the local dealership as well as corporate office is the worst I have experienced in luxury brands. As much as the car cost, you expect the best customer service from luxury brands which I have experienced with other luxury brands. However, Land Rover’s very slow responses from locan and corporate headquarters to their inability to address the problem quickly is making me very frustrated. It has been four months since I bought the car and I still have not able to use the activity key. They are still telling me it is a software issue that has to be addressed from the corporate. My problem is that why did you sell the car and made it sounds like that you only have to set it up to work. Back and forth between the dealership and the lack of knowledge of what is going on is absurd with the company of this size. I am still waiting and no apologies and they are just asking me to wait. What about the unreliability of their phone app. You will be lucky to have their app working once in may be 50 attempts. You constantly gets poor connectivity alert to just not working app. They still have not addressed the issue. I believe this is a false advertisement in their part that they are selling cars that they are advertising as if the activity key of land rover is working but in reality it is not. How long does it take to fix this kind of an issue? How about their service department? It might have been my local dealership but the difficulty of getting in touch with the service managers to lack of reponse from the general manger when you contact them just amazes me. this will be my last Land Rover. I wanted to experience Land Rover and I do like their car but bad customer service is big part of purchasing a car for me, and it is not worthy it in the future. December 2018. I had this car for about a year now and had more issues then any other cars. Beginning of December, this car had leak from the front windshield that soaked the top of the interior and water through the inside of the car. When I took the car in, they knew the problem saying that landrover had problem with the front windshield and problem with the sealing. I was stunned because I didn't receive any notice from dealership or company. They kept the car because I cannot drive that car with leaking and soaked interior. It is not January 16th 2019, car is still at the dealership and dealership continue to have problem getting the windshield from landrover. They cannot even locate the windshield. I have the loaner but missing my car that has my XM radio and data is getting old. I just cannot believe they cannot even locate the windshield and also have no idea when it will be done. No phone call from the manager to apologize or explain the situation. Never getting landrover again. They don't have organization, service and reliability that is required for the supposedly luxury SUVs. I finally got rid of the discovery. Trade in value was worst that I ever had with any other car. I knew it was bad but no dealers wants to give any money for this car. Excuses....hard to find the comparable value, there are not many cars to compare, nobody wants used landrover right now... I thought the one of the selling point of landrover was that there are not that many. At the end, I was completely dis-satisfied with the landrover quality of the car but also the service of the company and dealership. I am not getting landrover in the future. I changed my car to BMW X7. Love the car. Love the dealership and service.

Solid SUV option at the high end of the spectrum

Honestly, the Disco gets a bad rap sometimes because it is a Land Rover. The brand has had its issues over the decades, but this 5th generation seems to have it all figured out. Great family vehicle, impossibly amazing off road qualities that most people can’t even fathom how to use fully, and a high end interior that makes it feel luxurious. The sub luxury brands are all catching up (Toyota highlander, Hyundai Pallisade, Kia Telluride) but they are all trying to become what the Discovery IS. While the price can have some sticker shock and service costs can be high, that’s expected for a car in this segment (compare to BMW, Audi, Mercedes and it is quite reasonable) All in, it’s a reliable vehicle, does all the family stuff you need and is heads above the vehicles desperately trying to say “me too”! The HSE Luxury is my personal favorite, as everything other trim level just seems to be missing out on all the cool stuff you can actually pack in to this vehicle. Negative comments about the infotainment system are vastly over rated. I drove the Jaguar F-Type that comes equipped with the exact same system and found it easy to use and quite pretty from an aesthetic point of view. For those that don’t like the onboard system, it has Apple car play and android auto, although that somehow cheapens the experience in my eyes. I own the HSE Luxury TD6, and while the engine is a little more sluggish than the F Type cousin, it has kore than enough passing power and acceleration for a 7 seater SUV that does it all. Knowing that you “have to” drive it hard once in a while to burn out the engine is a nice perk - eliminating the guilt associated with having fun with a beautifully designed vehicle. You can fit full size adults comfortable in all 3 rows, and while the LR4 and pre ious owners miss the split tail gate the back “bench” thingy is just another cool thing for LR to throw in just in the name of staying true To it’s brand. It drives well for it’s size, but not like a sports car. If you want sport performance, go somewhere else. Asking this vehicle to handle tightly in corners is preposterous, as it does so much else! It is a smooth, comfortable ride, with a feeling that the vehicle wants to go off-road at the next opportunity! This is a vehicle that knows what it is, and gets a 5 star rating is doing exactly what it’s designed to. Love it. UPDATE: We’ve owned our Disco for 3 years now, and it’s the best vehicle we’ve ever owned. Looking at comparabale pricing and mid size SUV’s , we were open to everything out there including the Highlander, Palisade, And Telluride. At a decent trim level they were all 60k to 70k plus, and we found a 2 yr old disco for 50k. Something felt suspicious, and I was skeptical, but the more I researched the more I liked it. It’s off road performance is outstanding (just watch the videos on this thing) but the around town carrying kids to soccer practices type driving is superb. It’s not the fastest vehicle out there - and if you want a sport car in an SUV this isn’t the vehicle for you. It IS however, a sub luxury SUV that looks aggressive just sitting there in the parking lot, is unique enough to be recognizable, and has so many creature comforts to keep everyone in the vehicle happy (all 7 seats have bum warmers - an absolute perk in colder climates!). We can fit full size adults in all 7 seats (I’m 6’4 and fit in every seat) and while climbing into the back row does require a bit of agility, the space inside is remarkable for a mid size SUV.

Love my 2017 Land Rover Discovery Diesel HSE

I felt like I needed to add this after seeing the two negative reviews for people with poor experiences. I have owned this car for five years, and absolutely love it. The only issue I ever had was when the battery died and I could not figure out why I had continuous problems. I realized it was because I left the center console cooler (refrigerator) on. Other than that, I have literally had zero issues. I love the app to start my car and warm it up from a distance on a cold day, or cool it down before I load the kids in after being out all day. Great mileage, dependable, comfortable, great turning radius, looks great, and fantastic mileage 23 mpg daily and averages 26 mpg on road trips. LOVE

Leased brand new 2017 Land Rover Discovery HSE TD6 AWD. Family of 6 so we need to have the third row and this vehicle promised to combine comfort, reliability, and luxury. None of those things were true. The vehicle was delivered to us with the interior drivers door panel detached and hanging from wires. Windows would not open and radio/information panel acting weird. Problems were repaired only to have water coming from upper center console leaking into cabin two weeks later. 10 days to repair. Few weeks later car starts to surge and vibrate loudly when we travelled more than 65miles/hr. Another few weeks of repair. Over the past 26 months of ownership problems have ranged from the annoying to the absurd: -leaky windshield/sunroof (3 times repaired and still leaking) -electrical glitches with entertainment console -hood cable snapped twice - one time the vehicle would not start because I had to add DEF fluid but couldn't open the hood to add it! -car found dead and unresponsive on driveway needing to be hauled away by dealership on a flat bed because they couldn't even open the doors (never was given a reason as to what caused this other than they've never seen this before) -defrost fan screaming when turned to max (blower fan changed out twice) -vehicle groans after 65 miles/hr and the noise is so loud the driver and front passenger need to raise their voices to speak to each other (problem still exists even though we've taken car in 6 times for repair - service says they have no idea) -windshield wipers messed up -whistling noise in cabin when on highway - service can't find air leak -condensation inside cabin every day making everything moist and sticky Save yourself the hassle and aggravation. Most frustrating, annoying vehicle experience I've ever came across. Dealership was zero help and never proposed any solutions or resolve. I've spoken to the general ,manager, service manager, sales team and they all shrug tell me ride out my lease. I personally contacted Land Rover and expressed my distress on this and they spent 2 months "researching" this only to come back with the obvious that the vehicle is a dud. They agreed to purchase the vehicle from me (now only 11 months to go on the lease and most of the negative equity has been paid for by yours truly) BUT ONLY if I purchase a new vehicle from them. So I guess they figure they can treat their customers like crap and then try to force them to get stuck with another one of their crummy vehicles and do it all with a smile on their face and make it seem like they are doing you the favor. Screw Land Rover. [HTML removed]

Non-Stop Infotainment Issues

Purchased brand new 2017 Discovery Lux TD6. Non-stop infotainment issues which included: dash would be completely blanked out; GPS said we were driving in the Atlantic ocean; rear camera would stay on when car was off; infotainment screen would freeze. Took to dealer and they had the car for over 2 weeks at one point - they even had to do a video conference with UK engineers who rebuilt the entire computer. Had non-stop significant vibration in rear tires and the alignment seemed to shred the tires. Inquired with the dealer about lemon law and he basically told me to go buy a new car on the lot and they'd give me wholesale on a trade. Overall - huge disappointment because the design of the car was awesome. We traded this in for an Infiniti QX80 and have had zero problems.
