Kia Sorento say no
The engines are absolute garbage from late 2010 thru 2014. They have a recall/extended warranty on the direct fuel injection models which rarely make it 100k the multiport injection models are the exact same engine with a small difference in injector placement, and they to rarely make 100k. KIA will not help at all with the $6000.00 engine replacement expense on my 2012 Sorento with 97000 miles on it. The original powertrain warranty was even 10years 100k miles, but they reserved it to the first owner only. This is my first and last Kia. My Nissan Xterra had 212k miles on it and runs great, sold it to a family friend in need. I feel like such an idiot believing Korean cars are decent for the money. Never ever again will a Kia be registered in my name.5 months after engine replacement. Now the check engine light is on, its a code for the door inside the intake manifold not part of the engine replacement. POS is costing me another $700.00 to replace the intake manifold. Deeper and Deeper down the money pit I go!

Great Car but not as great mpg as they advertise !
I bought this car for the appealing advertisement : great price, great mpg for a large SUV. Very quiet, very comfortable, lots of features (i.e. ipod, ventilated seats, a third row, AC on second row and third row, improved safety bags, etc). The sticker advertise 24 34 with large prints and small prints up to 38 ! We said: for sure we can get out of it at least 30. I drive over 500 miles / week with a 90% highway. I already put 3000 miles on this car and the best I could get out of it was 25 mpg. On the instantaneous mpg display I can go up to 30, but the pure math of dividing the total mpg per tank with total amount of gallons of gas is the final mpg of a car. That is 25 mpg so far!

Always buy the big engine.
I feel badly for all of you that bought the four cylinder engines. I have just under 30K on my Sorento and it is a great vehicle. My family and I drove from Iowa to Louisiana and back last week and I averaged 27.5 mpg at 76 mph. This is a comfortable and relaxed road-trip cruiser. The ride is a bit stiff, but this is why it handles well. The Sorento is powerful and economical. I have to say, it does very well in the snow too.
Constantly breaking down on me!
I bought my sorento with 100,000 miles on it. So far a hose busted and over heated the engine leaving me stranded. Once fixed, two more hoses busted. Then a week after getting that fixed. The crankshaft position sensor went bad and wouldn't start. Replaced that myself (80$ for the part). The next day the crankshaft position sensor (another 80$ part) went bad and left me broke down at the gas station. And every once in a while the rpm's drop and the motor shakes like crazy for about 5-10 seconds before reving back up. POS!! I can't wait to trade this in on something that's worth a [non-permissible content removed]!

POOR gas mileage
Excuses by Bairl Kia in Pgh for poor gas mileage: the snow, the hills, and the government sets those gas mileage ranges! I cannot get over 20mpg on the highway going 70mph. I bought this vehicle for the listed gas mileage. Not even close! The ride is hard. It has the bells and whistles but I would have liked what was advertised by Kia. I am disappointed.
