ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SUV

My 2024 KIA Hybrid Sorento is very, very quiet inside, the hybrid engine and tranny work so smooth together. I do not have any hesitation with my KIA when accelerating and am thankful for that. I am 6'0 tall and the drivers seat fits really good . My son said the captains chair and its ability to recline makes for a very comfortable ride. I was not ready for a totally electric car so this hybrid filled the gap for better gas mileage. I am averaging 32 mpg. Excellent family car ... KIA's reliability made my decision to buy this SX Prestige hybrid easy peezy!

I love all the amenities the car offers. My favorite features are the heated seats and auto start from my phone. Also I drive the turnpike every day to work, so the ease of the cruise control is amazing. It’s so comfortable, for passengers included. I have zero complaints. I did notice it’s a tiny bit glitchy when it was sub zero the other week… but once the car warmed up it was fine.

Child safety lock design flaw is serious problem

Kate, 02/14/2024

Beware: The newer Kia Sorentos have an electronic child safety lock button instead of child safety locks that can be manually engaged and disengaged on each rear door. The electronic child safety lock is a design flaw that can give rise to serious safety issues. First, the child safety lock button becomes inoperable when the engine is turned off. Second, the electronic button locks both rear doors and both rear windows at the same time. So if you have a child in one rear seat and an adult in the other rear seat, you can only lock them both in or not have the child safety lock on either rear door. If you disengage the electronic child safety lock button to let the adult out, know that the child can also open his door. There is no way to activate a child safety lock on only one rear door. Each rear door has a visible manual switch labeled as a switch for activating the child safety lock, but the manual switch does not actually work; there is no way to activate the safety lock for just one rear door. If you need an effective child safety lock, you should understand the problematic limitations with Kia’s electronic child safety lock button before you purchase.

Lousy car, lousy dealers and horrible Kia service

We bought our 2024 Kia Sorento in May of 2024. We bought it new from King Kia in MD. We haven't put on 1,000 since we bought it, in fact, it was 882 miles when the stuff hit the fan. A code came on, P198500, and later another code P177600. Apparently, when the temps dropped below 20 degrees, the car wouldn't shift. We finally got it to move, and drove it straight to the dealership. That was in January 10, 2025. With the exception of one week, it has been sitting at the dealership (which I will never buy from them again, since they didn't fix it the first time, they simply reset the code, hence, a week later the car was back.) I informed Kia of the problem, they created a ticket, and then "escalated" the issue, and a month (yes, over 30 days later) escalated the issue again. The brand new Sorento is still gathering dust at the dealership. Under the Lemon law, they are supposed to replace it or refund the purchase price, but they are just giving me the usual corporate jargon; we are following the warranty claim. Well, we are coming up on 60 days of the Kia sitting at the dealership, and no help. For the record, the dealership refuses to provide a loaner or a rental. Yes, I opened a Lemon Law claim with the state's AG.
