2024 Kia Niro EV SUV Consumer Reviews

Electronics are hard to learn and set.
I bought this car in mid Janurary. I have spent hours and hours trying to learn and use the electronics. I will drive down the street and the defrost will come on full blast because the computer said the conditions are good for it. The car is like that as it knows better than you what should be working and when. I wanted to love this car but the climate/radio/electronic brake/etc controls are too intertwined and drive (pun intended) me crazy. I have gone through the help videos and finally gave up. This is ten hour course and I DON'T CARE, ANYMORE. Enough. If I could sell this car back to the dealer I would. By the way, the vehicle part is great and I really like it but the electronics is too much. I think the engineers figured out all the things they could do something but nobody had the wisdom to limit all they could do, such as the five ways the defrost can be activated at full blast. By the way, I have a degree in chemistry and have built and a house and remodeled another. The car computer system is junk. I had a 2022 Bolt and the computer and other features worked great and were a lot less complicated.

First EV
Moved from Hybrid to EV and not looking back. Lots of bells and whistles to digest but not impossible. Very comfortable with lots of driver/passenger comfort. For anyone thinking about EV this year the tax credits were 14K in Colorado that also pushed us to EV over the Hybrid. No disappointments at all!

Great for a daily driver
This is my fifth lease of an EV and my third Niro EV. I have over 10K on this version. Overall the car is a wonderful daily driver even in winter (Western NY). Why did I get this one? Larger than Kona, better built than Leaf and Bolt, safer than Tesla (lack of buttons is a safety hazard for me!). Cheaper than Ioniq 5 and has a rear wiper. Cheaper than Mach E with thicker tires for winter. Unlike many cars Niro EV has a heated steering wheel in the base model in my area. Much more headroom than EV6 and ioniq 6 (we can't even fit in the back seat (6'3 and 6'5 son)). Visibility is great; hatchback is great. Efficiency is better than most EVs (often over 4 miles/kwh). Many improvements in looks and electronics/software since version 1. Kudos to Edmunds for including this on their list (many outlets leave this off even though the Niro EV has legendary status in N. Europe/UK). I disagree with the cons of Edmunds. The fabric seats on the base model are comfortable and if you select sport mode, the responsiveness is more than needed for legal safe driving. My minor cons (especially compared to the 2021 version): no sunglasses holder, dashboard climate/radio buttons are annoying (dual purpose as in EV6), no charge cable included, backup noise is too loud, no LED headlights (and made more difficult to upgrade).

Niro Ev is a speedo
The 2024 Kia Niro Ev is really fun to drive. The backseat is able to handle three adults. The fronts seats are very comfortable. The auto lift gate is very convenient. The cargo area already has a protective mat. I had to buy one for my other EV vehicle. So far haven't found any negatives.

Sporty and compact
It drives nice and has great safety features! My first EV and while there is a learning curve I’ve really come to enjoy it!
