Used 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV Consumer Reviews
UGH that is all I can say
WE purchased a "managers model" 2006 Jeep G Cherokee Laredo (manager's special, I.e. the loaner when the cars get fixed) Well number one, we were sworn to that the car wasn't smoked in, but sure enough when it was warm enough outside to open the windows, the window trim had cigarette burns in it (couldn't see them when it was closed) It then went in 3 times for check engine light but no one could tell me why. It rattles and almost stalls at stop lights.(told this was normal in this model) Car seats with latch can't be installed properly because of fixed head rests. AWFUL blind spots, and now the Air conditioner blower motor went...I have only owned Jeeps, I am on number 6 now, never again
let's play in the mud
Love the vehicle, downsized from a '04 Denali XL with the 6.0 engine, so even with the hemi I love the gas mileage. Plus it's fun to dust all of these people in cars who have no clue that a suv can move like that. Great to drive, biggest and best surprise was how good the ride is. I really thought that moving down so much in wheelbase would make it ride much worse than the Denali, I can hardly tell a difference. Already had to pull a full size Ford out with it, the 4x4 system is amazing-especially to be able to pull that much weight (F-250 on grass) and be able to maintain traction was phenomenal, much better than the one I had in the Denali and it was good. Last thing-I love it!

Good so far
Traded my mustang GT in on a 2007 Patriot Limited, many regrets there. Traded the Patriot in on a used 2006 Laredo and I love the ride and styling of this vehicle. I keep praying for snow! I have had it just over a month and the lights in the temperature control went out-thank god for the certified warranty or else I'd have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it. I can only hope all repairs aren't as costly as that would have been.
CD Changer issues
Overall I really like my Jeep. It offers a smooth comfortable ride. All controls are easily accessible and operation is intuitive. There is one troublesome issue. At purchase I upgraded to a 6 CD changer. Change is the key word - we are about to install the 4th one in 5 months. I'm told the specified unit is new to the 2006 model year and "a lot of units have been replaced". The SUV is great, but skip the CD changer upgrade.
2005 GR Cherokee LTD, 4.7 V8
Seats - too firm, only 6 way power. Needs larger side bolsters. Fuel Economy - poor only 12 or 13 - 16, 4.7 V8, MFG rated at 16-21... not even close! Computer was better on overhead ('04 model better). Built in GPS, not the best (Alpine), requires expensive DVD upgrade. Several other German touches could have been better.
