Used 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Consumer Reviews
Beware - unseen bugs
Transmission is slow to engage at times, acts like it is slipping, you gas it and it free revs, exhaust manifold leak, limp mood is triggered sometimes by transmission issue resets to 3rd gear and is very slow, battery already went bad 3 years old (special expensive battery needed), surging at idle, dealership services, they have only fixed the manifold, numerous attempts by dealership but have never fixed. They could never get it to do it and the service manager would never return my messages. Had differential fluid changed and they charged me an extra $60.00 to just shut off the light. Planning on taking some where else to fix.
Truck Died on Testdrive
So I will say that I always absolutely loved the grand cherokees until I got to drive one; the quality is horrible. I went to test drive a beautiful black 05 4x4. For the first 5 minutes of the test drive, I was in love. The car was cool and looked good from the outside and the interior was nicely appointed. Then when I stopped at a traffic light, all of a sudden, the certified pre-owned truck died and had to be towed. We went back to the lot and I picked out another one and this other one wouldn't start. At this time I decided to leave and forget about buying a Jeep at all. Again, these were 2 certified pre-owned jeeps with less than 30,000 miles that broke down while I was trying to buy

I traded in a Range Rover for my Grand Cherokee (5.7 Hemi engine). Rovers are good but very high maintenance, and too many mechanical problems. My Jeep is very reliable, and the upgrades make it a pleasure to drive. I feel safe and at the same time enjoy driving my vehicle. I have owned two Rovers, and this is my third Jeep. I will never go back to the overpriced Rover with all the maintenance headaches. Jeep off-road performance is excellent, and like most 4x4's, it depends on off-road driver knowledge to fully appreciate its ability. I am as proud driving my Jeep on the highways as I was with the "prestigious" Range Rover. I receive as many compliments on my Jeep as I did with my Rover.
excellent redesign!
Finally, a change from the bulbous shape of the old JGC! The SUV looks sharp, with short overhangs, nimble, and athletic. It really does look like it can go anywhere, and through anything, unlike its behemoth competitors. I've looked into the new Frontier, Pathfinder, and 4Runner. Chevy TrailBlazer and Nissan Armada are too big to be considered SUV's, maybe just UV's. Compared to the Jeep, all of them are awful on highway. Off-road, these 3 are quite competent, but, if you're like me, you spend 5 days out of 7 on asphalt. The NHTSA's crash-test results 3 weeks ago gave the Grand Cherokee an all-around "excellent" rating, and for the price, no other manufacturer can come close.
LUV 2 Drive
I love this car! We had an Isuzu before this. It was great, but not enough guts to tow anything. We also have a CJ5 & 2003 Wrangler now.
