The weatherstripping arounf the doors seems to shrink therefore causeing the doors to leak in water when it rains or when you are going through a car wash. also the chrome decals on the hood and on the driver and passenger door lose there clear coat and begin to rust. i have already replaced the motor unit and the lock system on a 3 year old vehicle...

When I purchased the Jeep, I thought I was getting a great SUV. Boy was I wrong. I have had power window motors go out, power door locks go out, had to replace the gas tank, had a new power seat and power seat back and don't even get me started on the problems with the brakes on this vehicle. Ask anyone who has owned one, the brakes are a major design problem. Jeep sent a service notice out about a $400 kit to fix the brakes but do they offer to take care of the buyer of their car. No! This will be at my expense and guess what, I'm not going to do it. Stay away from this car. I'm selling mine as fast as I can.

Good -- But not quite what it could be

A darned good vehicle to wrap yourself in lots of safety steel. "Built like a Jeep" -- with good reason: it has honorably withstood serious bangups. But...glitches like rapidly wearing brake rotors and transmission flukes make it less than inspirational for assurance of maintainence free driving. Like many SUV's, it seems a bit tippy -- and a whole lot less nibble than a comparably priced sedan. A great car to lease for 3 years...and then let someone pick up wiht repair prices. But...while you lease it, it has a strong sense of encased safety.

More Brake Problems

I love my 2000 JGC,But.... I had the front rotors replaced at 18K and was told the replacement part had been redesigned and there would be no more problems. Well, we're at 36K now and guess what? Yep, new rotors and pads again. They made me pay the first time, and I guess I'll have to pay again. Seriously considering whether to dump this vehicle or just keep buying new brakes every 18 months.
