The Compass is a comfortable car on the highway, it has sufficient cargo space, and it delivers excellent fuel economy considering its size (34MPG summer/30MPG winter). It has endured conditions as warm as 97F and as cold as -35F with no problems. The a/c keeps me cool in the summer and it starts every time even on the coldest mornings. Update. Now at 48,000 miles. So far no problem. I had a 2018 Compass that consumed oil (then got totaled). My 2019 was a replacement for the 2018 and doesn't use any oil at all. After wrecking the 2018 Compass I can say it is safe. Wife and I walked away with no more than a few bruises from the airbags deploying. I do a lot of driving in northern New England and the Compass is competent in snow but I strongly suggest getting genuine snow tires. The OEM tires are LRR tires and pretty lousy in snow. With snow tires the Compass is quite sure-footed. Two drawbacks: 1) It doesn't come with a spare tire. Any vehicle that might be used off-road ought to have a spare as standard equipment. As it is a person can't even order one -- they take the order and never fulfill it -- perpetually back-ordered. 2) There are no cubby-holes in the front seating area to squirrel away things like pens or pencils, cell phone, whatever. Two drink holders and pockets in the doors -- that's it. Oh, there's one tiny hole by the shift lever that might hold a few paper clips. I bought an aftermarket tray to fit in the console to hold miscellaneous stuff. Too bad Jeep didn't think of that. I bought my 2019 Compass after my 2018 Compass was totaled. I had some misgivings about my 2018 Compass because of it's high oil consumption, but I had a strong relationship with my dealer and risked buying another Compass. So far this one's been a charm. It doesn't use any oil and the drive-train is much quieter than the 2018. Update: Now at 65,000 miles and I'm still happy with it. Only repair was a plastic(!) sway bar bushing that failed and caused a significant rattle. I replaced the plastic(!) bushing with a metal one and I don't expect another problem with it. Overall I'm very happy with it. Update: August 2023. Now at 120,000 miles. Still no problems at all. Update: February 2024. Now at 128,000 miles. Intermittently overheating problem turned out to be a cracked thermostat housing. Problem solved. Update: August 2024. My Compass has made it to 130,000 miles with no significant problems. However, I did have the tranny fluid changed. Although the owners manual says the transmission fluid in the ZF9-speed is good for the life of the transmission, I feel that changing the fluid will extend the life of the transmission. One dealer said it wasn't necessary; another did it for me.

It's a perfect fit for me!!!! A smaller smooth riding SUV that's high enough off the ground, with 4x4, simple buttons to figure out and a nice sounding stereo (after adjusting the equalizer). I happen to love the off-white color, just like a vintage shabby-chic ceramic. 😉

Crappy Compass to Love my 2019

We were in a 2016 Compass. We had so many problems with the brakes it was becoming ridiculous. I have owned Grand Cherokees and wanted something to tow behind my RV that was reasonably priced. We took the 2019 Latitude for a drive and were so pleased we took it home. It is NOT a power house but it has a great interior and easy to use Uconnect electronics. This Latitude has restored my love for Jeep. Update**** I have driven my 2019 Jeep for 18000 miles. I haven't had any issues which has been a pleasant surprise. I am hoping the reliability continues for a least another 100000 miles. Stay tuned! We just hit 36000we are flying without a warranty now, but still smooth sailing.

Good looking and capable small SUV. Easy to use and a good mix of features and price. Interior feels high quality. Do not feel the engine is underpowered but is a bit buzzy at higher RPM's. Brakes are also a bit grabby. Got 24% off of MSRP and so far am quite happy with the vehicle.

Bought it because the size was right and it is pretty comfortable. Yes the lack of storage, especially up front is annoying, but overall there is plenty of space. Yes it can be a challenge to get comfortable in the front seat, but once you do, it's very nice, even on long journeys. The drive-train is a bit of a let down, but only because of the 9 speed transmission. Once you get going it's fine, but that initial getting moving is awkward. That said, it is better than most other small SUVs I tested, including the RAV4 and Rogue which both are woefully under powered. If this was going to be my only vehicle, I would never have purchased it, I guess that says more than anything else.
