Black Cat
Have wanted this car for many years - love the look and the class that it has. For the money, the best looking car on the road. Relatively new owner and love everything about it so far. People always are telling me how beautiful it is... 08/30/16 - Still in love - the more I drive this car, the more I enjoy it. Extremely tight, solid feel - quick and responsive. Wonderful to drive on long trips and short ones too... I always get nice compliments about the car. Truly a great touring car... 08/31/17 - Still in love - the car has been almost perfect - I actually had someone leave their business card on my windshield in a parking lot recently asking me if I wanted to sell it to them! Still enjoying everything about the car... Planning to go on several long road trips with it this fall. 03/1/18 - Had the top down all last weekend and enjoyed the spring drives. Still in love with this beautiful car! No issues to report.

I really, really like this car!!
I bought this '04 convertible used (in 2017) and to get an $87,000 car with under 40,000 miles for only $17,000, I call that a value - even if it is a few years old. Looks-wise, as far as I'm concerned this is the most beautiful car on the road! Anywhere! Ever! Period! The perfect update in body lines but still reminiscent of the legendary XKE. I can't stop looking at it! You know, anyone can buy a Camaro, Mustang or 'Vette, and they're nice cars and all, but they're a dime a dozen. With the XK, and especially the rare-ness of the "R", now you have class. People constantly stop to gawk and often ask me what it is. And it gives you a special feeling when you can reply, not "Chevy" or "Ford"...but "Jaguar"! The best was when I came out of a restaurant last month to find 6 elderly women ogling over it! Performance wise it's great, it is fast! Fastest on the road? No, not by a long shot, but faster than 95+% of them. There's nothing like leaving the light and being to 60 mph effortlessly (I'm talking only part throttle), looking back and seeing everyone still just getting rolling. And I always have to turn the stereo down when I do because the best music is the sound of that Eaton supercharger whine! Put the transmission in "Sport" mode and it snaps through the gears and if you nail it from a stop (before it shifts to 2nd, something it likes to do in short order) and it launches HARD! This car has a nearly perfect combination of looks and performance, it really is as quick as it looks. For a sports car it really rides quite nice considering its handling is so crisp. Another big plus is the gas mileage, I can easily get 28 mpg at 65 mph and that's GPS corrected for mileage over a 620 mile trip. How do you beat a car that looks like this, handles like this, looks like this, rides like this, looks like this and goes like this with nearly 400 supercharged V8 horsepower and gets this kind of mileage? Did I also mention what a looker it is too? The interior is beautiful too with the polished burled walnut and leather even though there's no place to really store anything. My biggest "gripe" is probably getting in, or especially, out of it. Tough, I can live with it. A useless "3 marble" tray in the console has a small tray and a 4 coin slot, pretty much a joke. I removed it and made a nice polished aluminum plate in which I installed a combination volt meter (because there isn't one), cig lighter socket (that's always powered now) and dual USB port as the only power outlet on the car is the cigarette lighter inside the ashtray which is only hot when the ignition is on. In this day & age you can't have too many charging ports for all your "stuff". I also removed the ridiculous nav system from the dash (it's user un-friendly, no touch screen controls, runs off a DVD player in the trunk (!) and the last update was before the car was even built. My 35 year old street wasn't even on it!) and I installed a nice Garmin in its place - and it looks factory. Same for the stereo. The old 2004 stereo has a 6 disc player in the trunk, no aux inputs and a cassette deck. Yeah, a cassette deck! Its did crank pretty well but I put a modern Pioneer in its place, replaced the amp in the trunk (kept the Alpine speakers, they're okay) and now I have a modern stereo that rattles the mirrors and interfaces with my phone. These few simple, cheap updates were all this car needed. Maintenance so far has been good, it's been easier to work on (so far) than I'd expected and so far parts (like brakes, etc.) haven't been out of line either. It really makes all the difference if you can take on repairs like this yourself, normal maintenance on these isn't too far out of reach of the average Joe and you'll save yourself a bundle. This car is a keeper. Did I mention how beautiful it is? It's been over a year, they asked if I wanted to update so I will. I've put about 17K on it now and it's STILL my all time favorite car! But I'll say this, anyone buying these new paid almost $90,000 and they were never a 90,000 dollar car! 60 maybe but not 90. My biggest gripe is the stupid little things that shouldn't be an issue on a car like this. The driver's seat squeaks and squawks when you're trying to get out so I'm going to have to fix that, everything is motorized and the power function for the head restraint (do you REALLY need a power head restraint?) just grinds and growls. Same for the motorized steering column. Every time you get out the wheel moves to the top (or else you'll never get out!) and when you get in you have to move it back down (actually it's supposed to do it automatically). I have to hit the down switch anywhere from 3 to 10 times to get the wheel back down. It's not a big repair but it's something else I have to fix. There is a little rattle in the dash I have to fix. Why should a $90,000 car have a rattly dash at under 60,000 miles? My 160,000 mile/13 winter Chevy truck has never had issues like these at all, what's that say?

Whoopee!
A real head turner no matter how old the exterior design may be. Some modest detractions are the ergonomics sometimes requiring you to look away from the road, could be improved, but once learned, no problem. Full leather interior with shiny wood trim spells luxury. This design too is old, but why change a good thing? Exterior metal fit is average. Not impressed with quality of the Alpine sound system given the price of this car. Performance is outstanding, a smooth 6 speed transmission, plenty of get up and go. Unless you set the speed control, you'll be going 90 and not know it. Anyone paying 70k probably does'nt care, but I get 27+ mpg on the road. A great touring car!
Fun to drive, the envy of the block
Can't believe the envious looks and comments we have had. Handles very well, great styling, reasonable gas mileage. Great acceleration. Surprisingly quiet ride with the top up. Problem getting routine parts such as oil filters, etc.
On Top of the World
I have wanted a Jag for over 30 years. Well, it was finally time. Just to make sure, I drove every conceiveable competitor. Corvette, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Aston Martin, Lexus - you name it. The XKR is the best overall choice. It is stunning. Strangers drool. It is THE gentleman's sportscar. And the service from Hennessy was unbelieveable. Top notch.
Beautiful but costly
Beautiful car, get lots of compliments. Have had a lot of problems. Just recently had the whole engine replaced. Under warranty of course! Every couple of months its something else wrong. Power window went out on psgr side. Convertible top gets stuck often, cig. lighter goes out, engine coolant light always comes on, pwr to side mirror has gone out sveral times.
I LOVE THIS CAR
This car is amazing. The dealer is fantastic and I've had very few problems (a/c drainage hose clogged but was easily blown out by dealer and the lighter doesn't work). Otherwise the car has been a dream!
Limited Edition Carbon Fiber
I bought this car for its looks and fuel economy. I love the 19" wheels and the fact that this was a limited edition. The only thing that really bothers me about this car is that there is no cd player on the dash, and I have to go in the trunk to change the cd's.
Fantastic
Swapped my 2002 XKR for this 2005 XKR. Definite upgrade & improvement. Since both cars were black, most don't realize it is not the same car. However, the increased horse power and extra gear (6th) give a different driving experience and improved performance over the previous model. This car can be driven all day and averages close to 20 mpg, not that I care, but it is impressive. Best car I have ever owned.
Dream Car
Have wanted a Jag since the first time I spotted an XKE when I was a child. It's beautiful, fun and now I can't imagine not having one.
Superb GT Car
This 2005 XKR coupe is the third Jag I have owned. Previous cars included a 1969 E-Type 2+2 and a 2004 XK8 coupe. While this car is now 11 years old, it is drop dead gorgeous, and I still find myself sneaking out to the garage occasionally at night just to admire it. The DNA from the E-Type is much more obvious for this first series of XK8s and XKRs than the 2nd generation XK8s and XKRs, and just like the E-Type, these cars will always look beautiful no matter how old they become. And while they look great in photos, they have a very striking physical presence when seen in the flesh that rivals any exotic from Italy or Germany. I never feel as though I am playing second fiddle when driving this car. If the E-Type is a WWII Spitfire, the XKR is a Lear jet on steroids. It is a superb, outrageously beautiful, classy, and fast GT car with an original 2005 sticker price of just shy of $100,000 that can now be purchased for around a quarter of that price. Eventually, the ones with low miles and in great condition are going to begin to appreciate significantly in value. The perfect combination of speed, grace and sensuous good looks. A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Nothing beats a Jag
When I went looking for a car for my wife, I never anticipated buying a Jag. When I walked in, I knew the XK8 was the best looking car I had ever seen, and it handled just like I thought it would. A fantastic buy, and I have never been more happy with a car in my life, and my wife is thrilled by her georgeous convertible. My only problem is I drive too fast in it.
Driving a dream
This is like driving all the spactacular car dreams you've had all your life. It handles like I don't even need to be there. When you are driving the XKR you KNOW there is NO BETTER car on the road. It is the best, and you are in it. Strangers talk to me at red lights and in parking lots, and I know its not because of my red hair on my 50 year old body. Its all about the car. I am the princess I never got to be when I was a girl, I am the Homecoming Queen, but mostly I am the plastic surgeon's wife who EARNED this little piece of ultimate luxury.
I LOVE MY JAGUAR!!!!
This is my last car. I want to keep this carr orevver. It is a classic witthh mmodern technology. It never fails to attract people. I keep is spotlessly clean.
The classey XK8
Just can't say how wonderful the XK8 is to drive and own. How people stop to say "what a beautiful car". To drive it is even better.........just a dream. A true classic!
Ultimate Cat's "Meow" - WOW!!!!
This is an incredibly fun car to drive. It is an eye turner: sleek, sexy and beautiful. Driving it makes you forget the few blemishes it has.
cool car
this car is awesome Ilove my car I got it a year ago and It's great
AWSOME
This is a great car
LOVE MY JAG
PLEASURE TO DRIVE IT
My xkr and its performance
I went from a 1997 xk8 to my 2003 xkr and I love it. It has a lot of power and it has the same design as the 1997 and I think that this is a plus. It handles well on curves and rough roads. It is small and somewhat cramped and you cannot sit in the "backseat" area. The drink holder needs to be re- designed.
beats Mercedes in quality
The experience is incredibly positive. Performance, feel and quality are better than ever at Jaguar's. I drove Audis and Mercedes before but they are no match to the XKR at all. Nice to let Porsche look strange too.
I KNOW! RIGHT?
Bought my 2004 XK8 Jag used in 2015 had 69k and change, was skeptical at first, simply because I know the reputation of these cars. However mine has been flawless, everything works, i haven't done a thing to except change the oil. I put approx 5k on it, Sure it complains under hard acceleration but it surges forward with authority every time I punch the throttle. I wanted something other than a Camaro or Mustang (which I have 2014) I'm in love with lines and breath taking beauty like everyone else. --It's nowhere near worth 80k new or otherwise. However it's does everything I ask and more, i would buy another one, as long as it's after the 2003 model year in which they changed the plastic guides on the timing chain. FYI you hear guys blaming Ford the problems ie.. reliability, workmanship, whatever, that's nonsense! FORD actually improved the thing! The British never were that good at making reliable cars going back to who knows when!
An unexpected pleasure
While shopping for sports cars, I happened to rent an XK convertible on a trip to California. Unbelievable, great trunk space (considering the size of Mercedes and BMW trunks) and "elegant performance". Whatever it was, I was sold. Other cars might be able to post higher g-ratings in the skidpad or faster 0-60, but you'll find passion in a Jag. Found a great dealer in my home state that got me the color combination I wanted. I have never smiled so much driving in my life! Even better with the top down -- that way the climate control system gets exercised.
Ultimate Luxury
This car is the ultimate luxury vehicle. The styling remains up-to-date even after several years on the market. People continuously expess their approval. The car is a comfortable road car with great performance. The miles just seem to melt away. As an added bonus, the boot will hold two sets of golf clubs.
The Bomb
This car had one word to explain it awesome
exellent
it's the best car I ever drove
Hope you like to visit the service dept
Looks great, drives great and is worth the $80,000.00 However, myself and everyone else that has ever owned this car has had nothing but problems with it. Problems that are too numerous to list. Usually every 3,000 miles when it is brought in for service, there is a list of 8-10 things wrong with the car. Convertible top is great but to put the cover on it for a finished look is a real pain and comes off when driving.
XKR Coupe
This has to be the hottest car in the street. This car gives you great confidence every time you drive this fantastic automobile. Put some TV's in the headrest and set of 20-inch chrome giovanni's with some yokohama low pro z- rated tires and you're good to go.
?
I love this car. All the things one hears about Jaguars aren't true. I've never had a problem with it.
good
all togetther it is a good car to drive and it is real nice to look at. but it could be better.
first time buyer
Bought a '99 a year ago. It's certainly beautiful, get lots of compliments on it! When a teenager (35 yrs. ago), wanted and loved the XKE. Told friends one day that I'd have a Jag, now have two, Vandenplas and this one! When I get tired of the rougher ride, I go to the big one. Have had no problems so far. Love the looks and the looks we get!
Ascot XKR
Fantastic, fun, classy, a great car on a sunny day in the English countryside!
Jaguar XK8 - exciting sports car
This car is extremely good-looking, sleek and handsome, handles like a dream, outstanding performanc
Eye candy
Top notch car,,,great handling
awesome
I have had 25 cars in the past 25 years and this is the best all around I have ever driven.
Big Jag
Repair cost, when needed, is very expensive. The parts drive the cost of repair up, the labor is usually competitive.
my xkr
It is fast, smooth, and comfortable. Sure footed and a dream to drive. The styling is tsteful and timeless.
New Owner.
The wife lets me drive it. It's fun. Goes like hell. Just have to get use to the gear range. Wife likes the sound system & the color.
XKR
Excellent, car is solid powerfull and sinfully goodlooking
The Jaguar Experience
I recently purchased a black Jaguar XKR Convertible, and have had the pleasure of driving it around, although mostly on the weekends. The overall performance of the car is overwhelming and it has proven to be both an elegant and a great sports car, both at high and low speeds. Fuel economy's not so good, but you forget about it once you're cruising.
The jaguar for me
This car is fantastic the engine knows no boundries it is stylish and the best of all british.
Janets' XK8 Kitty
I've owned this type vehicle for the past 14 years, buying annually to semi- annually. I have that much faith & love for these machines. Not much maintenance, just menial things like oil changes, filters & maybe a computer glitch this year on the transmission (first time!) Overall, because I don't have a dealership in Corpus, it still doesn't concern me much about repairs. They are all small enough to extremely enjoy this great car that sounds like it purrs when you're driving into your big garage! I love the feel, elegance, drive, reliability & social status you receive when buying this vehicle. You can't afford to miss out on this car!
xk8conv
great car . love the handling and the "j" gate shifter
2003 XK CONVERTABLE
GREAT CONVERTABLE SPORTS CAR HUGS THE ROAD AT HIGHER SPEEDS THIS IS OUR SECOND XK CONVERTABLE WE FOUND THE CAR TO BE RELIABLE AND FUN TO DRIVE
XKR Better than the new SL500
I have purchased both cars. I like the XKR better for two reason. Its much roomier, and it is much more stylish in my opion I guess you can sum it up by the word "class"
SuperJag - 2004 XKR Coupe
I recently upgraded my xk8 to a 2004 xkr - what a machine! The growl of the supercharged V8 alone, is worth the ownership fee. The Jag is an almost perfect mixture of grace and pace, its truly lovely. Its nice to see people still taking such an interest in the car when you take it out - it just oozes sex appeal.
Awsome speed with class
This is no plastic interior corvette or cheap plastic viper. Interior is wood with leather, very classy, with 390 horsepower it beats anything on the road less than $100,000 (except the 500 hp viper) Great bargain for great speed and class
Very Impressed!
It was a present for my wife. The criterior was elegant, classy and a convertible. She fell in love with immediatly and after the test drive was convinced. The same day we had driven a Mercedes 500, a Boxer,a Vet and a Saab. But in the end as much as I may have settled for another car she felt the XK8 was the one! The dealership was terrific and we took delivery the next day.
Just traded
Five months ago I traded my 2002 XKR conv. for the 2005. The only available was the same color: black. I can pass it off as the same car, if I want. The upgrades are subtle but significant. I thought the 2002 was the best car I ever owned, the 2005 is now the BEST. More power, more torque, 1 more gear, better handling, better looking exterior. I really look forward to driving every day. This car has the power available when you want it. It is also very comfortable on long trips. The 2008 may be next, when my warranty expires in two more years.
Very pleased owner
This car is an extremely pleasant car to drive. It has the combination of power and luxury (something hard to find). The V8 twin supercharged really comes to the party!
