Good Car but it has some bugs

Overall I generally like my 2013 XF AWD. It drives well and handles the snow with ease. However, I have had some issues with the electronics. The overhead lamps sometimes just turn on by themselves and when I put the car in park and remove my seat-belt it will sometimes just turn itself off completely. The dealership has been unable to resolve the issues.

A Jaguar for all seasons

I bought the car new in July and now have 9,000 miles on it. It is fast, handles very well and, with all wheel drive, suits my driving requirements. I spend time in Los Angeles, but live 100 miles away in the local mountains. The all-wheel drive works flawlessly. (My last car was a Subaru WRX and the Jag is faster and works just as well in snow). I've always driven manual transmission cars, but the 8-speed auto has won me over. The car is roomy, the interior is elegant and the dash and console design are simple and straight forward without the multiple buttons, dials and lights in German or Japanese luxury sedans. The use of leather and wood trim rather than plastic is a pleasant change.

Bought my Silver AWD '13 XF New Year's Eve 2013. I believe I got a fairly spectacular deal, although I had to trade in my spectacular '09 XK to do so... Only 3600 miles so far, but I am impressed with the XF (as I expected). Great ride/handling combo, other than some wind noice around exterior mirror, quiet. For a large, heavy AWD, acceptable mpg, overall I'm getting ~20mpg. Drives smaller. While it may not be as modern as other infotainment systems, the XF is fairly simple and logical in operation. Very "cool" interior with the use of wood, aluminum and the phosphoresent blue lighting. My biggest complaint is driver seat comfort, had I gotten the Portfolio pkg, probably no complaint

I had some reticence in going with my first Jag due to reports of reliability issues. However, the design and the feel won me over to give it a try. Got a very nice deal off the window sticker. Range Rover / Jaguar Houston Central was an awesome group to work with and their attentiveness after purchase has been awesome. The feel of the Jag is simply something to savor. The "sport" mode has great pick up without the annoying lunge/lurch of me BMW 535. The 3.0 Portfolio upgrade is supercharged, it takes off immediately from a stop - something I didn't like about the standard model. Interior is incredible by design and the finish is beautiful. The BMW is so bland in comparison. Seat comfort is better in the Jag and it just feels like it fits the driver like a glove. Technology is good and far better than in the 2013 BMW I traded in. All in all, I couldn't be more satisfied, 3 months and 5000 miles in. Cheers!

Cat Chat

Rear vision is hampered by the stylish low roof line. That deficiency is compensated for to some degree by the cars passing vehicle warning system. The Cat's V-6 supercharged engine provides instant acceleration - a true performance pleasure. Unfortunately performance comes at a price - lousy gas mileage in the 14 to 16 mpg range around town. Though the car doesn't need much service the cost of having it done is extortionate- try an oil change in the $200 range!! On the positive side the Jag dives like its on rails. Its interior is well appointed with quality materials. The controls are logically placed within easy reach. Instrumentation is good, but misses some of the gages you find on older performance cars - but, then, I'm a lover of the old Jags and other British cars. The driver's seat steering wheel combination has more adjustments to it than Carter has little liver pills. Leg room is abundant. If you can't find a comfortable driving position you aren't trying very hard. Bottom line: I love the car; hate the dealer imposed cost of ownership.

After owning Audi and BMW, we decided to try something different and the Jaguar has exceeded our expectations. From the moment you enter the car, see the start bottom start to pulse, and hit the button, you get this adrenaline rush as the car starts to growl, ready to pounce on its next road victim. Power at your command, with great handling and cornering without sacrificing luxury. The sound system is second to none and with an instrumental and navigational panel that is simple and logical to use. We are dog lovers, but we are extremely pleased with our new cat!

Great car, former Audi driver. A6 got boring. Beautiful design and head turner. I have Black on Black Portfolio package. This car needs a 3000 mile break in - suspension is stiff early. Great in the snow. BUT - why they put Continental All Season Tires on this as an OEM tire us beyond me. I've had to have them balanced no less than 4 times. This is not the ride you'd expect from a $65,000 car.

Bought this XF AWD used with 29000 miles from the dealer. Service every 15,600 miles and I now have over 72000 miles and have never had an issue! 26mpg around town and up to 33 on the highway, AWD is awesome in the snow. Highly recommend! Update: I now have 84,000 miles and have needed one repair, that was covered under warranty. There was a leak in the coolant line. Other than that, all is good. Scheduled maintenance at 80K (replacing the supercharger belt) ran $800, but that included an oil change, tire rotation and thorough once-over. I still love my car!

Be prepared to have both a sporty ride as well as luxury with this car. It even growls like a jaguar (the animal) when you accelerate! I love it 😊 very well made and handles exceptionally well on my 120 mile commute everyday to work. So glad I bought this car. It’s made a difference in my drives regardless of the length.

This sedan is quite peppy with the 2.0- engine, I wouldn't want any more power and was a dream to drive home from a 250 mile trip when I bought it. I am still learning about the car, but it is exactly as advertised and the reviews of other buyers made shopping quite easy for me.

First, I should explain why I gave this car only 4 stars for performance: I'm used to the 5 liter V8 that was in my 2010 XF and my 2012 XK. While the 3.0 liter V6 SC is peppy, it's not the big V8. However, it's nice to get 18 mpg around town instead of 15 mpg the V8s get. Otherwise, it's a pleasure to drive and to look at. Creature comforts abound. Best of all, it's not a BMW nor a MB so you won't see yourself coming and going. November, 2017 update: I’m still very happy with the car. It has performed flawlessly.

I can tell you from experience, if you have ANY issues with your Jaguar, the Dealerships and more importantly, Jaguar Land Rover North America, will NOT help you. If your car's engine blows up due to an internal oil leak, at only 48,000 miles!! they will not help you with the costs! Even if it is a faulty engine. You are better off with a Kia, believe me! I need a $12,000 engine/turbo replacement due to the engine blowing up due to lack of oil. They only wanted to cover 30% of the costs. We only owned this car for 3 months. This corporation is only out for what money goes into their pockets. They do not care that their vehicles tear up and cause customers extreme financial distress. The will not own up to their crappy workmanship. This has been a living nightmare for me and my husband. In the end when they want you to stop emailing them (or rather the 3rd party who deals with all customers, a customer called Percepta) they put their corporate lawyers onto you to leave them alone. BEWARE of Jaguar Land Rover North America, they say they value their customers but they do not, sadly.

I bought this car in 2015 and still love every second in it. The performance and personality of the XF steals your heart as soon as you experience it. I've always been a fan of the traditional Jag look and this model is a departure from that, but it grows on you and the performance beats the Jag touring coupes I've owned hands down. The dealer service is absolutely second to none. I have owned other luxury cars and Jaguar Land Rover service is the best I have ever experienced.

I own a 2015 Jaguar XF 5.0 Supercharged. So far I have had no problems, just regular maintenance. I have 41.000 miles and the car is holding up like new. Understand this is a fast car and rarely does traffic understand that equation. This particular model is showing to be a favorite on it's looks alone. I already have people wanting to buy the car from me. turns out the sleeper model is going to show more demand when it comes to resale time. Jaguar did a lot of things right with this one. Go try one out for yourself, they build these cars to sell themselves. make sure the previous owner kept the maintenance up, as with any entry level high performance super car. An additional source you might consider is the Jaguar forum. I had previously owned a BMW M5 and it turned into a money pit. Don't get me wrong I liked the BMW, but I love the JAG.

I have to say that this car so far has exceedeeding my expectations. I am coming out of a 2011 BMW 535I and the Jag handles much better. I have the 3.0 AWD and I have to say much impressed with the power and handling. This car is a lot more sporty handling than the BMW (even though I had the uhp package) In my opinion, this is an absolutely beautiful machine ,it's tight, taught and perfectly balanced - get the premium package at least - you will not be dissapointed- but, this car does ride tauter than a Lexus, the 535, A6,etc. So, if you are looking for a cushy ride - not. That's not to say that the ride is tough, it's just a little firmer than the prementioned cars - excelent imo

The best of the XF models: XFR

ranger3bn, 01/08/2019
2013 Jaguar XF XFR 4dr Sedan (5.0L 8cyl S/C 8A)
3 of 3 people found this review helpful

If you are going to get a XF Jaguar then the XFR is the one to get. I test drove the 2013 XF with the smaller engine and was very disappointed with the level of performance. I already own a Jeep with AWD so I kind of knew the V6 3.0 AWD model was not going to meet my needs. However, once I enter the cockpit of the 2013 XFR I was very well impressed with the level of comfort and performance the car gave me. Most options were already on the car so no need to be left wanting and why would you with 510 HP? The fit and finish on this car is top notch across the board. As I said before it you want the best that Jaguar has to offer in this model then the XFR or XFR-S is where you want to put your money. Not really sure why Jaguar did away with the v8 model that was from 2009-2012 on the XF and the XF Super Charged and replaced it with a v6 that has less HP then the older models. However, thank God they still make the XFR and XFR-S to compete with the M5, CLS 63, and Audi S6 and S7. Without the XFR you will definitely be left behind if one of those car pulls next to you.

Purchased a previous owned 2015 XF in emerald green and sort of orange interior. While I was a three BMW, 1985 E30, 1988 E30 M3, 2001 E46, I was inclined to try something different. This is an animal. The 3.0 supercharger is phenomenal. Love it and will keep discovering this car until I know it like the Palm of my hand. Never thought I would go this route.

I purchased my 2015 Jaguar XF brand new. I ordered it through my dealership directly from England with only 16 miles on it. I loved it the first time I picked it up in July 2014 to today. I owned the very first 2015 XF on the east coast in 2014. I have absolutely no complaints and I get compliments about the sheer beauty of the car almost daily.

2015 XF 5.0 Supercharged

I now have 60k miles on it. No issues at all, period. For those saying Jaguar is a lemon, I disagree. I do however think that any brand of cars occasionally has a lemon come off the line and I do agree that American Jaguar dealership service is high brow, expensive and not consistently top quality. With that said, I love my car. It has never let me down. It is serviceable by competent local shops. Personally, i do my own work, except I farmed out to replace the automatic transmission fluid filter. It is a beautiful and comfortable car which, in the v8 supercharged versions, can at least keep up with M5s - you wont be embarrassed. I have owned a lot of american muscle cars, a 2003 RX7 sport, a previous 2006 xkr (no issues over 3 years), a bunch of Lotuses (elise and Exiges)(only issues due to track use), and a Maserati Grand Tourismo (temperamental money pit). The jag is all I could ask for and just as reliable as any recent corvette. My opinion is that it is one of the best in its class for that year, period.

600 HP 4 door family car for 24k!

WillEks, 02/21/2022
2015 Jaguar XF Supercharged 4dr Sedan (5.0L 8cyl S/C 8A)
3 of 4 people found this review helpful

Was looking to buy a 400+ hp 4 door vehicle to drive my kids to school and retire the 'minivan'. I looked at Jeep STR8 but at $55,000, it's a lot to spend on a 'Jeep'. Looked at Lambos, R8 and even a 911 but the only way to fit my kids in the back was to cut their legs off. So i googled 400+ hp cars and this Jag came up last in Top 10 for some reason, and then it all came crumbling down; Top Gear UK season 13, episode 5 where they test a XRF! After almost buying a 2009 Benz S63 (bad rear main oil leak), i went to Tampa, FL to see a 2015 Jaguar XF 5.0L Supercharged with 62k miles on it. Snow white with 2 tone beige/truffle interior sitting on XFR-S wheels. Price, $24k! Why so cheap i wondered, after googling, most complained about ride quality and MPGs. Ride quality is perfect here in florida, not so good in city like NYC. As for MPGs, i make 22.6 combined after VelocityAP tune for 605bhp/526tq. Before tune i made 24.5 MPGs combined using XFR base ecu file. (XF, XFR & XFR-S all have same drivetrain front to back) Few things that suck: --Ford touched Jaguar and introduced cheap chinese plastic cooling tubes that last few days in a cramped engine bay. --No engine coolant/oil temperature gauge on cluster. --Climate control has a mind of its own. --Sway bars are from a honda civic. --Front bumper should be 6" lower to reduce nose lift at speeds above 160mph. --Adaptive suspension should have Soft/Hard switch like XKR. --NO FRONT FOG LIGHTS! Plenty of fog in England and in Florida, why no front fog lights??? --Infotainment is from 1976, but Jaguar figured that the horsepower will compensate for the snail slow and horrid device. Leapfrog tablet would be much better.. --Body panels don't align well making this XF, not a quality design car for OCD people. --Central locking/anti-jacking system is nice but, when i open drivers door, i want the rest to stay closed! How anti-jacking is this? Also, can't lock vehicle while its running with keyfob outside of vehicle.. WHY NOT??? Leave it running with AC on, lock it, go buy cold beer, come back to a cool car! --Front heated windshield. Why you ask, because we get snow here in south florida, 11 months out of the year.. First thing i did is call Safelite, pay $400 and have a proper windshield installed. BTW, my Jag was sent to south florida straight from Englands factory. --Last one is cheap ford/chinese parts on this Jag like front shock upper mounts disintegrated after just 5 years, steering rack bushings almost gone, rear E-Diff input shaft seal went bad 2 times already. Seal is $30. Line the diff with black silicone and push the seal in 6mm deep. Overall, for $24k it's a bargain, has bunch of things in it that i don't care for but kids love it when daddy floors it and the blower whines while helping them regurgitate their school lunch :)

Don't buy this car, they are lemons.

This car is full of defects from noise due to some plastic below when you turn right, to the point where I taught my transmission froze in the middle of the road only a couple weeks after taking it out brand new from the delearship, they couldny replicatw what happened but all the people at the intersection where my new jag got stuck were baffled as to why this luxury car stopped working like this. I was lucky that after 10 mins the car decided to start working again. My car is turning out to be a lemon. From faulty tire pressure sensors and faulty tires, terrible roadside assistance, the worst. Terrible support from the delearship. From my most current situation where my car cannot be properly be fueled without disengaging the gas pump every two seconds when it's being fueled, that makes it almost impossible to refuel at the gas station. Took it to the Jaguar delearship and they told me they fixed the problem but they didn't, mediocre service up to the point that I want to report this car as a lemon. Don't buy these Jaguars, there are full of defects and roadside assistance is the worst.

I bought my 2014 Jaguar XF with 112,000 kilometres when I was 21 and had it for 2 years. Drove it everywhere, It was my daily car for work, commute, grocery shopping and 2-3 day road trips, etc. Car excels in everything and for the price, it is the best car you can have. The comfort, performance, audio system and other features are the best for the price on the market. My car was very reliable and the only thing that broke was the lower back support (could inflate but instantly deflated afterwards). Other than that the car never leaked anything, was superior in the snow (especially with the snow mode on) and was very fun to drive. Insurance was expensive for me but that's because I am under 25.

Bought XF Sport new and couldn’t be happier. 5 years and 45K miles later only service has been scheduled maintenance. Forget about the old reliability reputation, and performance is outstanding! 50,000 and still great! No service issues at all and still tight and solid as new. Love this car👍🏻👍🏻 XF Sport now 8 years old and nothing but recommended services done. This has been a great car! Still looks and drives like new!
