Used 1994 Isuzu Trooper Consumer Reviews
excellent reliability
I bought my Trooper new back in 1994. It has been a real pleasure owning this suv. It gave me zero problems. All I ever had to do was change oil and tuneup. I never had to do a break job. Every time I took it in for the break checkup, mechanics have told me that rotors and the pads are in good shape, amazing!
Good Value SUV
I have used this SUV for several years and I bought it used. So far no major problem other than brakes, oil changes, etc.
Isuzu Fun
Bought this truck three years ago with just under 100,000 miles on it. I have not had to put a penny into it as far as repairs are concerned. At 140,000 still starts on the first crank. Tons of room for band equipment and GREAT on long trips. No for those concerned with fuel economy (17-19)MPG average, but will go ANYWHERE anytime. Easy to work on/ Easy not to have to. I love the truck.
Who made the transmission?
Other than the transmission which I fixed twice @ 110000 and then at 115000 this has been one of the best cars I've owned.I would by another one. BTW the best 4x4 I've ever owed was a 1987 Ford bronco II Engine went @160000 great size for off road and ground clearance.
Sad to say goodbye
I purchased the love of my life, the Trooper in 1994. I've had this car for 10yrs. It has 168,+++ miles with the original clutch (and I tow a boat!). I've changed the brakes twice. Two starter motors, steering pump, shocks, tires and air conditioning clutch. Nothing major. I have been plagued with a noisy lifter from 500 miles that comes and goes. Now i'm starting to get noise from the rear axle and gear box. Nothing bad yet but concerned. I am looking for another Trooper but can only find automatics, I'm a diehard manual transmission only. I'm blown away that Isuzu doesn't make these wonderful vehicles any more.
