Used 1994 Isuzu Trooper Consumer Reviews
It's a real Trooper!
Probably the best value in the used SUV market! Paid 13000 in 98 from a dealer with 44000 miles. Has 82000 now with zero problems, and dealers say it is still worth 7500. Pulls a 2800 lb bass boat around Michigan with no problem.
Solidly built, reliable
This is my third Trooper...each one has been of superb quality, with fit and finish second to none. 136,000 miles and no squeaks and rattles; I drive this vehicle pretty hard too. My only complaint - the 175 hp V6 doesnt cut it! I tow a tall, wide snowmobile trailer that weighs only 1,200 lbs. and the Trooper cannot tow it in Drive at highway speeds, going into the wind. I have to leave it in '3' and let the engine rev over 3000 rpm to maintain speed. Other than that, highly recommended vehicle. Oh yeah, it has good compression, oil pressure but it is thirsty for oil, especially when towing...keep checking your high mileage Trooper's oil level!
Odesa
Since I have first purchased my Trooper, I have only have to make repairs on wear and tire stuff. Like new tires and front end repairs (this was the first time it had been repaired since 1994). I have found my Trooper to be very reliable, but not very cost effective in mileage. It is a great SUV though for the true outdoorsman / woman/ family.
one of the best cars I have owned
Bought second new Trooper (Japanese assembled)in 94 for wife's interior design business. Also bought 98 Mercedes C class and an 03 BMW X5 during these years. This Trooper has been absolutely outstanding(as reliable as the germans) for over 10 years- Only had to replace the starter and battery. We think we ought to buy a new SUV but every time we look at and drive the Trooper (washed and polished) we marvel at how new its still looks and performs. The seats on the 94 model were so well made that they still look and feel almost brand new. The cargo area is big and tall. This is an SUV you just can't justify selling. Talk about getting your moneys worth!!
300,000 Miles and Still Going Strong!
Bought new in 1993, and 300,000 miles later is still going strong. One of the best vehicles I've ever purchased in terms of reliability. Solid, strong and sturdy; handles well and very maneuverable. Simple, uncomplicated interior features, dashboard full of "on/off" knobs, crank window handles, radio/cassette player, no electronic door locks, no security alarms...nothing to break! Tremendous amount of storage capacity. Kept on regular maintenance schedule since new, and though some old parts have been replaced with new factory parts, it's all to be considered part of it's long life. Lots of people look and wave while driving, especially other Trooper owners. Thanks Isuzu!
