Used 1994 Isuzu Amigo Consumer Reviews
my review
I have had my vehicle for a while and have only minor repairs to deal with
The go anywhere two wheel drive vehicle
This has been a great car for the last 4 and half years. It is slowly declining in performance, but has given me no big problems from the time I got it. It will take you anywhere.
Lost my Amigo in a Wildfire
I bought my Amigo XS used in 1994 and used it to explore EVERY dirt road in Anza Borrego State Park. I even created a website around my adventures! Although it was only a 2WD, I managed to do almost everything a 4x4 version could do. Snow and ice (on the other hand) no so great. I totaled it in 1999 and rebuilt the body in 2000 -- and then drove it for another 100k miles. Overall this SUV was super fun and very unique and I wish they still made them. Didn't have many mechanical issues until around 200k, which is when I should have replaced the engine. It sat idle in my driveway for years, while I attempted to find a new engine and afford to rebuild my project rig. But nature had other plans, as a forest fire moved through my neighborhood and took out 2200 residential homes. We didn't loose the house in this fire, but we lost our 2 garages storing our off-road rigs.
AMIGO muy despacio
I've had this car for about a year and a half... It has been very reliable but it it's very slow, only 96 hp.. and a very simple dash, no rpm meter, no drink holders.. etc..
Bad News for this Owner
I had an Amigo for about two years and I should have done a buyers check first before I bought it! I had a flywheel/starter problem that made me have to pop the clutch many times in order for it to start. It rode rough, got average gas milage for an SUV and I wanted my old car back again! The oil pressure dropped to the point that the oil light would come on every once in a while because, as I found out when I sold it, one of the cylinders had water in it. You do not have to be a mechanic to know that this is not good news! The soft top is tough to get on and off (try it before you buy it), and not really worth the trouble. This was probably my last SUV.
