Used 2018 Hyundai Tucson SUV Consumer Reviews
The neighbors envy.
LOTS of cargo space. Surprising acceleration for non turbo. Car is a head turner in white.

Don’t walk, RUN!
I had bought my 2018 Hyundai Tucson in 2020. When I bought it, it had about 40k miles on it. It was still rather new so all I could find were good reviews due to all of these model years having low miles still. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I was driving down the highway, check engine light comes on, and the vehicle won’t go over 40mph. The car eventually died on the side of the highway. I get my oil changed religiously every 3k miles. I still had about 1k left till my next change and the dipstick said the engine had NO OIL!! Well turns out the engine blew. Oh, my Hyundai only has 95k miles on it by the way!!! These engines are absolute garbage. Do research on the class action lawsuit that has forced Hyundai to fix MILLIONS of these engine when they blow due to excessive oil consumption and connective rod bearing failure. My engine is being fixed under recall, but anyone who didn’t get a specific knock sensor recall before the engine blows, is being left out to dry. I would strongly consider against buying a Hyundai or Kia since they are the same company.

Stay away from this vehicle
We bought the car with 45,000 miles 2 years ago. Last weekend we were driving on the highway and heard a noise that sounded like a fan blade rotating that seemed to get louder with acceleration. No indicator lights came on so we figured we would get it home and call the mechanic in the morning to have it looked at. As soon as we exited the highway and came to a stop the noise changed to a very loud banging noise. Still no indicator lights. Started to turn onto our road as we were only a few blocks away from home and we had almost no acceleration. Mechanic says it’s a knock in the lower end of the motor and the motor needs replaced. The dealership can’t even look at it for almost a month to decide if the warranty will cover it. They don’t do loaner cars anymore so “if” they approve the warranty claim, then another department can try to help us get a rental covered. We had no indications there was a problem until it was catastrophic and from many claims it seems like Hyundai is well aware of the problem but does everything they can to deny the warranty coverage they brag so much about. Run do not walk away from this terrible vehicle as fast as you can

My first new car after 13 years! 2018 Tucson SEL+
I am very happy with my purchase, a bit pricey considering I could have gotten a Subaru for the simple fact that it retains its resale value better but I think that the Tucson SEL Plus 2.0 looks more luxurious and feels more secure. It has tons of extras that are included in the price (standards) which make it easier when you are compare shopping. I drove out of the dealership with 9 miles on the odometer and am still getting used to the ride, the only fault I see is that I wished it had a little more force when accelerating to go into the highway for example, but that could just be me driving too slow. The fuel economy is better than I expected, it really did not change that much from my old 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. It has a bigger tank and therefore I pay a little more at the pump, but it lasts me that much more so it evens out, almost, I get about 22-24 mpg City. Another feature I love is the ride, it is smooth and you don't feel the bumps on the road, the construction of the car feels solid. One thing I found a bit odd is that this model SUV does not have a CD player and only 2 USB port :( Other than that, I am satisfied with my purchase and I look forward to having this car for many years to come!
Stay Away from this Vehicle!
This is the fourth (and last) Tucson I've leased from Hyundai, and it appears something has slipped. I picked another Tucson after my last one was in a wreck; this one has been an altogether different kind of wreck. The gas mileage estimates listed are not in the neighborhood as the car's actual gas mileage, which is significantly lower. On the one I have, the transmission can't seem to find gears, so when you try to accelerate, the car locks up for about a half a second before slingshotting forward. This is major problem; it occurs when starting from a stop, too, but at least then it's easier to recover the car. I've already had Hyundai look at the transmission and claim it is fine; if so, the Tucson's "fine" doesn't pass for "driveable" on most cars. I would advise anyone to stay away lest they get stuck with a clunker like I have.
