My ownership
I love my new car. It's performance and gas millage have exceeded expectations. I have had many people come up to me at stores gas stations and neighbors compliment me on the look of my new Tuscon. It rides so smoothly and steers like a dream. No complaints in that department.
Disappointed in MPG and temp gauge
For the most part I love the looks of the car inside and out. It is fun to drive but is a little rough and noisy. Wish they would have put 17 inch wheels instead of 18 on the Limited. I'm still waiting for the good mileage to kick in. Dealer says wait for 5K then it will, geez, really? The best I've had is 24 on freeway going flat and straight. In hind sight I would have paid a little more for a Honda CR-V.

Customer Service:
I was quite pleased with the purchase proposal that was delivered to me for this car. I'm very pleased with the design of the Tucson, they really have stepped up the game with this car.
Excellent! And love it
Attractive design was why I chose this car but it was much much better in all aspect than the CR-V and rav4 I test drove
Great car
This car is great, with the 4WD I consistently get 33 HWY and about 24 around town, when I drive normal. Very comfortable to drive even on long trips. Since my car is fully loaded people have mistaken it for the Lexus or other high end cars until they see the Hyundai H. Great choice, I would pick it again.
Tucson 2010 GLS
My purchase experience was nice. The dealer gave me a great trade on an 07 SF Limited with 58000 mi. I got $3,500 for it and no money out of my pocket to drive this baby off the lot. My monthly payment decreased $25 per month with $18,800 drive off financed, including t,t & l. I'm impressed with the motor pep, interior package quality and ride. I love the bluetooth and I have no complaints with it. My first trip was around 800 mi and I averaged 27.7 with the air on and cruise set at 75 mph.
Noisy engine
Very good design, both outside and inside of the car. Feels a little on the smaller side inside, not too much room in the back but OK. Very good dashboard layout. Visibility is OK but I've seen better. Ont the downside, the engine is too noisy to my taste. The power is sufficient for this small vehicle but engine noise is intrusive. I'm more used to Buick and Lexus-type serenity.
Great Small SUV for the price
I recently bought the AWD GLS with the preferred package, and I could not be happier with my purchase. The car is fun to drive, and very nice for long trips. I will say I have some trouble with visibility, but not nearly as bad as some other crossovers I have driven. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone. Please note that the AWD is not always on. The car operates in FWD on normal terrains, and AWD will activate if more traction is needed, so you still get great fuel economy.
Tucson 2010 Rocks
I purchased a new limited Tucson 2010 for a 4 cylinder has good power, I am specially happy about the transmission changes gears as if it was a Cadillac, I noticed the gas consumption is not exactly what they say it is. But overall so far I am happy, yes I would recommend this vehicle to any body.
UPDATE
My first review of the new Tucson was on 1/5/10 w 300 miles on it. Now, with 1500, my opinion is the same. A great car in all respects. Only negatives (which I can live with) are the small gas tank (would have liked a 16-17 gal as on my 05), a door bell for a horn (they should have charges another $10 and it would be heard). The third is the front seat could have been wider. Maybe the leather is the confining aspect. aLSO, I do miss the rear window washer. I get 24-25 local but have not had it on the road for a long trip. This will come in late May. All in all, still very thrilled with the vehicle. Can't wait for the C&D report.
Electronic issue or just bad parts
I liked 31/23 mph (but since only getting 26/17) also liked dual moon roofs and style of the dash and interior. But a week after a/c compressor broke & was replaced right away. Then the speedometer intermittently stopped working or read wrong. I took back a few times before they could concur that it was bad. Blue tooth would connect and then kick me out Bluetooth & speedometer repalced. I opened up a case with Hyundai-consumer that something might be wrong with electrical. They replaced and now a month later the blue tooth did the same thing going to replace again. I opened up case suggesting electrical, but they say nothing is related. using up sick days to go to dealers once a month.
More Noise than is acceptable
So far I am getting reasonable mileage on this vehicle. My only major complaint is the Road Noise. At 110KMH you may as well turn off the XM Radio because there is no way you can hear what is going on. Otherwise, it offers surprising power, a very good transmission with good shifts (I hardly ever noticed any jerking on a downshift) and it is quite comfortable on long trips. My back no longer hurts when I drive 250 miles.
Bare boned fun!
You certainly do not need all the extras to feel good in the Tucson. It rides well, feels safe, (I haven't had to test the safety features!) looks and has been mistaken for a more expensive vehicle. There is plenty of leg room, front and back. I have driven a small car for years and was completely comfortable with the transition. This is the best upgrade I have made in years and recommend the Tucson in more ways than one. Happy Driving!!
my second Tucson
I loved my '07 Tucson so I got another one this month. I really like the '10 design and I got the full add on package with navigation. This navigation system blows my garmin away. It is very accurate and the hands free voice input for nav and phone lets me keep eyes and hands where they need to be. These Tucson's are excellent vehicles and the value of their product and accessories beat the competition hands down. The only things I do not like are the timing belts that have to be replaced. Also, the 'subwoofer' that they brag about in my upgraded sound package is not even remotely noticed. My standard system in my 07 sounded just as good. Very disappointing.
Two surprises
Imagine my surprise when I found that there is no warning device for the front seat passenger to tell them their seat belt is not fastened. Vehicle has the wimpiest horn I've ever heard.
Lil Black Hyundai
Very pleased, looked at Venza but reviews on 19" tires killed it. Tucson good get up and go, comfortable and nice tight handling. NAV system a real pleasure and easy to use. Most important is my wife likes it, her car! Back up camera nice feature, very useful in parking lots. Really liked the design and this was deciding factor vs. others in this size. Rides well, it's firm which my wife and I prefer, and for this type of vehicle is pretty quiet on all roads. No sqweaks, rattles etc, well built. Transmission extremely smooth best I've ever experienced. I have an Elantra and if the Tucson is comparable I have two great cars. Gas averaging around 24-26 all around, will take on a trip soon.
Love it.
After much research, and test driving a Ford Escape, I decided my give up my fully loaded Expedition for this sweet little ride. Compared to the Escape, the Tucson is a better ride, better interior design (no need to dismantle back seats to fold them down), it looks more expensive especially the interior, gets better gas mileage, a better warranty (plus road side assistance for 5 years), seats are more comfortable, and it has ample leg room for backseat passengers. What kept me with Fords for the last 3 car purchases was the keyless touch pad on the door, my all time favorite feature, however I will just have to learn to take my keys out of my purse before getting in the car.
Stiff and loud
This car for the $27k msrp is suprisingly loud and uncomfortable. You can feel every crack in the road and the ride feels as if the car had no suspension. You have to pretty much yell to be heard by your passengers on decent quality concrete pavement.
Simply impressed
This is my 2nd Hyundai. the first one was a 2004 Santa Fe V-6 3.8 , excellent Vehicle. i traded it for a 2008 Jeep wrangler, i still regret it; not that the Jeep is a bad car but Chrysler cheap manufacturing process and Dealers that don't know what they are doing ruined a great product. So i am back to Hyundai. the Tucson is fast, quite silent and very well build.its electric power steering is amazing , the suspension is firm but comfy. the interior is very functional, there is quality everywhere. the paint job is really beautiful; looks like a more expensive car. Gas mileage is 22 in city and around 27 in highway driving.
Looks good, Drives better
My Tucson is well put together and fun to drive. It has more pep than I thought it would have and the AWD is a boon here in Buffalo. The options and quality in the SUV remind me of more expensive models. Dual climate control works well. Car defogs quickly. Radio/Navigation system is impressive. Bluetooth and voice command on steering wheel works well. Car is quiet even with the sunroof open. Interior is nice and roomy and the seat warmers are wonderful. It is a pretty car.
A good choice
After going through the nightmare of a Jeep wrangler 2008 unlimited, I came back to Hyundai with the only expectation of a good vehicle. Was I for a big surprise. This little brute is amazingly fast, frugal on fuel and quite fun to drive. It brings attention and I get asked "what car is that. A Lexus, m3 or what. Quality is everywhere, the price and features. Unbeatable. I really don't know what kept me away from Hyundai after my wonderful, never forgotten 2004 Santa Fe
Great car!!
I just purchased my new 2010 Tuscon and I absolutely love it!! Edmunds.com helped me pay the price I wanted to pay and the whole experience at the Hyundai dealer was great!! The car is much more than I expected. It is fun to drive, comfortable, and the interior is dazzling, touch screen and voice activated commands are a plus!! Great stylish exterior. Get one!!!
Hyundai Believer Now!
I wanted to post a quick review of how this car handles in the mountains. My wife and I recently purchased this vehicle in Denver and drove it up to our home in the Vail area. That is an elevation gain of over 5,000 ft so there are plenty of hills! The Tucson handled the hills amazingly. We have owned several 4 cylinder Subarus and the Tucson is so much faster on the hills and the transmission is flawless. I was skeptical about hyundai, but I am now a believer. The car is so stylish and so well appointed that I don't know how you could consider any other vehicle in this price range. It also has a lot more room than you would expect looking at it from the outside. Amazing car!
LOVIN MY HYUNDAI
I love driving my hyundai...enjoy the smoothness of acceleration, transmission and turning radius....the color red and the upholstrycoche Premium sound system is not...a great disappointment....Blutooth not so great....I keep my cars for 10 yrs but this baby may see a new owner much sooner due to a crummy air- conditioning system....its slow to start and i dont believe it will cool our summer days--hasnt done well now in the spring...gas mileage at 24 mpg with 10 percent city90 highway long trip did make it to 28mpg
Very Happy With My Tuscon
I love my new Tuscon. It has great pick up on the highway, the air- conditioning cools the car off fast, it handles well around town, and the styling is great. The only thing I am disappointed with is the gas mileage. It is not getting the advertised gas mileage and I only get about 310 miles to the tank. I wish I would have upgraded to the Limited however because I am not super happy with the leatherette seats. They are comfortable, easy to clean and don't look bad, but I wish I had gotten the leather.
2010 Tuscon Limited
This car drives like dream. The inside is fully loaded and the outside looks like a car that could cost more then 10k what we purchased for the car. The car is beautiful!! Best car we have owned better than any Toyota we have owned for the last 17 years.
great auto
I bought this vehicle about 4 months ago. Traded in Lexus RX300. Compared to what is offered on the Tucson and the new Lexus(which is about $15,000 more) i am very satisfied with the Tucson. It really fits our needs
Best Vehicle I ever owned
Build quality , fit and finish all top notch the style and mechanics of this vehicle is second to none very happy
Wow! Get this SUV that drives like a car
I Love, Love, Love this car. It's amazingly nimble and drives like a car. This is like driving an Acura TL, but in an SUV version and with better gas mileage!!! everything about this car is amazing. You can really see that a lot of time and effort was put into REDESIGNING the 2010 model. This car should be priced at roughly $10,000 above what it currently sells for. If your in the market for a small, luxury SUV, then I have only one advice for you.....GET IT!
Love Mine!
I've had mine for a month now and drove across the desert to Arizona in the rain. It handled beautifully! Fun to drive. I love all of the features, and I didn't have to spend a fortune to have them.
Smoothness while driving Tucson-2010
I bought this vehicle in Feb 2010. The serious problem with this CUV is its smoothness in accelerator. It would suddenly stiff and may cause smooth running. I am still observing but would like HYUNDAI to please resolve this soonest possible, else, they may have to call back the vehicles. Someday it is smooth with av of around 10 L/100 km some day 12 L/100 km and stiff Accelerator/Sometime it hinders the smooth running the vehicle's speed.
Our first Hyundai
Nice SUV, when I first test drove it, it felt like a mini Lexus. I was impressed, and the same night we leased the car. I wish I can drive it every day but is my wife's car so I have to drive our 2001 Honda CRV. We also test drove the 2011 Sonata, it looks like a BMW and it drives great, wish I have the money to purchase the Sonata too. I am very impressed with Hyundai.
Overall Excellent Value - Very Happy!
We've had the Tucson for one week. Traded in 2005 Ford Escape. Checked out VW Tiguan and Honda CRV. Tucson design inside and out won in our book. Interior fit and finish is excellent and options for the money are fantastic. We have 600 miles on the vehicle so far. Hwy. MPG=29.1 and mix city/hwy.=25.2. We think the ride comfort is good compared to other models tested. Transmission is excellent - very smooth six speed makes the four cylinder engine suprisingly snappy. Steering responsiveness seems right on as well as turning radius. Again for the money this seems like an excellent investment considering AWD, heated leather, navigation, panoramic sunroof and overall vehicle design.
Love it!
I am very impressed with this car. I haven't had a new car in 10 years, trading in my 1999 Honda Accord, which was a great car, and I made a great choice. I drive a LOT for work and this is a comfortable and fun car to ride when you have to be in it for long periods of time. I'm impressed with the leather, I use the bluetooth ALL the time as I am constantly making work calls - people say they sometimes can't tell I am on a bluetooth. Little unimpressed with the speakers. My first tank avg was 24 mpg, second was 25, third was 28. Just seems to go up! GREAT car! My dad, a picky car mechanic, even loves it!
Suspension system
Driving my new at low speed Tucson is like driving on a railroad track. The suspension system is terrible. There is a terrigle clunking which the company rep says is there because the "magazine buffs" want it that way." According to the rep enough people complained so that they went back to Korea which said that's the way we want it even though the buyers disagreed. In addition it is poorly sound insulated so the spare tire chamber acts as a sound amplifyer. The dealer has tried to fix it to no avail. The company rep on the east coast is only willing to sing the company song! By the way my mileage is not what they advertised!
Disappointed
We really like the car but so far have been BITTERLY disappointed with the fuel mileage. For a mix of 60/40 freeway/urban driving, we are averaging about 24 mpg. Even on a highway trip with very favorable conditions, we only got a bit over 26 mpg. We know that we won't get the EPA-certified 31 mpg from the window sticker but it ought to do much better than it is doing. We had the Hyundai district rep look at it and test drive it. He got only 24 mpg too so he confirmed what we have claimed. He said the car is operating properly and there is basically nothing they can do. This seems very ironic when Hyundai is now advertising themselves as the most fuel-efficient cars in America.
Awesome!
I just purchased my 2010 Tucson and it exceeded my expectations - I love it. Although it was hard to get (GLS with Popular PKG in Bronze) it was worth of the 3 weeks wait. There are only 2 things I would add as standard to this vehicle: 1) Outside Temperature meter 2) Two way console (deep and shallow) right now it's only deep. If you're on the market you have to take a look at that car as it's probably currently the best buy on the Market
Love my Tucson
Had my last Hyundai Tucson five years with no problems and was waiting for a style change. Wow! Bought the 2010 the minute I saw it and it didn't disappoint. Driving is easy, ride is comfortable, voice controls perfect, mileage is as projected. People stop me and ask about the car. Hyundai hit a home run with this vehicle. Congratulations to the design team and engineers who delivered a luxury automobile at an affordable price.
Fun transportation
Having owned KIA and Hyundai automobiles since 1987 I found the Tuscon to be one of the best built. I expect that the Tucson will match or exceed the quarter of a million miles that I and my family have put on each of our other Hyundais. Well made, great value, as well as great looks.
Excellent with one exception
This vehicle is fun to drive and an excellent buy as long as you don't actually expect the Bluetooth to be functional. You'll hear your callers but they will have a horrible time hearing you as it picks up all road noise, etc. Dealership didn't believe me but I gave them the blogs from the internet. They checked with manufacturer who said they have received many other complaints and were looking for a software upgrade to solve the problem.
Visually great but have had problems
Purchased in January. I made a huge mistake by not test driving the one I bought (test drove others) and it turned out to have a defective tire. Once that was replaced the ride was still very uneven and choppy. Dealership service department (West Broad Hyundai in Richmond, VA) treated me very poorly while trying to resolve this. Ended up at another dealership (Gateway Hyundai) that was much more customer service oriented. They rebalanced the tires but the ride is still not what it was in the others I test drove. They have also had to replace the entire XM Satellite Radio/Navigation unit because it stopped linking to the satellite radio.
Exceeds Expectations!
Traded in my trusty 2002 Santa Fe and went from a really good car to a great one. The Tucson gives you incredible value for your dollar. Am very impressed with both the crisp steering and the smooth ride. The build quality seems very solid. Have the Limited black exterior / black interior and it continually turns heads on the road. Well done Hyundai!
Great Value
Shopped almost every CUV out there. Dealership, Key Hyundai in Florida is big part of reason we purchased. Warranty and way the car is put together are other reasons. Very comfortable on short or long trips. Interior rivals that of more expensive cars. Only have 1600 miles on it and only disappointment is the MPG. Average is 20.8 MPG. Was hoping to get an average of 24.0 MPG. But understand that it is Limited with AWD. First non Jeep we drove in 20 years. We are retired and this vehicle fits our needs. Coming from a car background I would recommend Hyundai to any consumer.
Hyundai's New CUV
Its a very well put together truck. The designers did a great job with the new 170 hp engine very fuel efficient! The navigation system is touch screen and it also has a back up camera with grid to show if you are too close. I own a 2010 Veracruz and am very impressed with this 2010 Tuscon that I borrow it on a regular basis from my wife(its her car). I have owned many Hyundai's with very few dealer issues. After all in the beginning Mitsubishi was Hyundai's engine and transmission suppler with many problems ans now Hyundai makes all there own cars with very few problems. I have owned 10 Hyundai's and this is the best one ever!
Quality if you can get over the name
Getting over the Hyundai name was my biggest hurdle. In the past the design was so bulgy and bloated. It is obvious they out sourced the design of this car. It is so clean! The lines are smooth and strong, the fit and finish are the best in the business. The driving experience is fantastic. Not as plush as our Lexus RX 330, but I feel for the price, it is the best value by far.
Easy driving and high fun factor!
Too soon to evaluate reliability with 500 miles. Once you get used to the power steering in about 150 miles -- no issue AT ALL. Hard bumps are noticed but overall driving is nimble and sporty. Accelerates smoothly with little hesitation when your foot is squarely on the pedal. Drive sloppy and you get sloppy. 31-35 HWY but city driving, oh my!. I get off the highway and almost immediately go from 31 to 18-ish with little transition (I drive with the eco light on 90%). Test carseat before purchase. My 1 Britax in the middle makes seating for 2 more people VERY tight. Understand it is a SMALL cuv. Trunk hydraulics move up easily once you pop and nudge. Overall, VERY satisfied with purchase.
First Impression
Car (Limited model) is totally better than either my '05 GLS or "06 GL in every respect. The ride, quietness of engine under normal driving or demand was surprising. It appears to have as good (power) as my '05 w 6 cyl engine. Economy far better about 24+ in city and about 26-27 @70 mph. Car has only 300+ miles and fuel economy should improve. Interior done very well. Exterior beautiful. Handling very positive. All in all, Hyundai did one heck of a job on this new Tucson!
Finding excuses just to drive somewhere
I am loving my new Tucson! I've been finding reasons to go out just so I can drive it (i.e. more coffee runs, sightseeing). It's very zippy and I am super comfortable driving it. I've seen some people mention in other reviews & articles the tightness of steering is hard to get used to or seems rigid. I got used to it really fast. I think it handles great. The steering is sensitive, but I find I don't have to turn the wheel as much to make a turn, change lanes, etc. My friend came over and walked right past my car. She said "Oh, I thought for sure that wasn't your new car. It looks like a luxury SUV." She didn't believe it was a Hyundai. I was all smiles.
I Love my Tucson
I bought this after my Murano was totaled. I loved my Murano, but it couldn't touch the Tucson price or gas mileage. Bluetooth is great, very clear. Exterior and interior design is beautiful. Acceleration is incredible. For its class the ride is decent.
very satisfied
I have only had this vehicle a little over a month, and after trading in a Subaru WRX, was not sure but what I would find this change less exhilarating. To my surprise the Tucson is a fun SUV to drive and offers all that I was hoping for in comfort, gas mileage, zip and style. After a long history of sports car, I think I will be an enthusiast for Hyundai.
